More About 'American Gods': American Gods is a Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novel by English author Neil Gaiman. The novel is a blend of Americana, fantasy, and various strands of ancient and modern mythology, all centering on the mysterious and taciturn Shadow. Several of the themes touched upon in the book were previously glimpsed in The Sandman comic book series. The book was published in 2001 by Headline in the United Kingdom and by William Morrow in the United States. A special tenth anniversary edition, with the "author's preferred text" and including an additional 12,000 words, was published by William Morrow in June 2011. The text is identical to the signed and numbered limited edition that was released by Hill House Publishers in 2003. This version of the text has also been in print from Headline, Gaiman's publisher in the UK since 2005.[2] The tenth anniversary edition marks the first time the author's preferred text has been available in wide release outside the UK. Gaiman also did a very extensive sold-out book tour celebrating the tenth anniversary and promoting this book in 2011.

Can’t believe they fired him. I’m never watching that show again. Smh
Agreed.
What cant you believe? This aint new shit. I agree with not watching. I never seen the show, just clips. But I'd never think that anyone brown under the direction of anyone white is a garenteed win. Come on you know better.
I'm late. THEY FIRED HIM???!!!
@@marvinhunt117 yeah they did smdh
I’ve never watched the show so I’m only going to watch the first two seasons then im done. It’s fucked up that they fired him because he is telling the truth and as usual WS don’t want the true message out.
great performance he nailed it
yes, one of the best tv performances ever. I see Orlando in a whole new light.
CookieMaster101Kayleigh Orlando 🙌🏾
Facts!
Orlando Jones is such a phenomenal actor. Whether it was the comedy in sprite commercials or dramatic roles he always nails it.
I like him, his performance last night pulled me back into the show because I was teetering on the edge. I look forward to more scenes with Mr Nancy
He got fired and i liked him when he was on the screen so much passions and feel to his acting on. Nancy was phenomenal.
He is the best actor on the show! Hands Down!!!
KEMETE101 Hells yeah! Same with Paul and Emily!
Same in the book too
Orlando Jones is a marvel and so talented that show is definitely missing out their loss for sure😒
Speaking of Marvel i can see him playing the Blue Marvel
Great actor and smart about his craft and how to conduct himself in an interview.
Mr Jones is a tremendous actor....much love and continued success

orlandos representation of ananse is amazing. He never got the acknowledged in my opinion for his amazing acting
Thank you for the soul you put in the role and speech.
Incredibly powerful and heartbreaking. So many comments on his performance, but nothing about the message.
Truly an amazing scene. Brilliant acting
YES! HIS ACTING WAS ABSOLUTELY:
*S U P R E M E!
*FLAWLESS!
*EXQUISITE!
TOTAL OSCAR PERFORMANCE! ! !
SHOOK ME TO MY SOUL! ! !
BUT TOLD:
TOO MUCH TRUTH! ! !
It's beyond amazing! The words and the delivery together paint a perfect picture!
I love his scenes, but didn’t realize Mr. Nancy was a trickster God🤯. Either way, like when he shows up!
Look into the Anansi stories. He’s very mischievous and they’re a very good read.
Yup Anansi Stories will tell ya. He's definitely a wise trickster. Lol
Trickster is just one of element to his persona. Most of the tales about him involved trickery. However, most of the trickery was used to accomplish task to gain an power or knowledge.
Gave me chills...
Agreed.
Me too
Jesus!!!!! The performance was spot on!
Mr. Nansi is the reason I started watching the show. I hope they reconsider. The writing of his episodes were so well written.
When your so good that they are frightened into firing you. He was great and his words were truth and the truth hurts.
That clip completely caught me off guard. Powerful performance Mr. Jones!
Going to miss you Orlando.
Going to miss that show Nobody will be watching
Yes! I can't take my eyes off of him on American Gods.
Anansi❤
One of the Best Performances. Respect.
I can’t believe he started out on the sketch show MadTV as a comedic actor...his performance blew me the F&$k away!
I believe his name Nancy was derived from the (African) story teller and trickster Anansi from my childhood.
Grace Art you’re correct.
So you are Ghanaian
True
@chocobonita u need to go to Africa... It's still fertile full of awesome tins to know... Make a research on Ghana and u will be enlightened. We all live in a virtual world....
@@larrystuffs6762 I was told about Anansi as a child too...i'm Jamaican tho
Can you trick someone by telling them the truth? I don't think so
Beautiful Statement... Truth to the Power♥️🕷♥️
Beautiful Statement! ♥️🕷♥️...TRUTH TO THE POWER!
Hassan Thomas I think Orlando Jones proved that when they let him become a writer on the show. He took that character in another direction. A direction that would be considered a red herring. They had no idea what his agenda was until after Mr. Nancy aka Anansi had revealed his true intent. It never crossed their mind that the truth from a trickster God could wake up so many people that usually don't pay attention to the subtleties of info in movies or tv shows. He fooled them all by simply telling the truth.
@@hakimmuhammad0073 right I was shocked to hear so much truth on a show
I watched one screen, now I have to watch the show up to his firing
Performance so Awesome, I had to watch every episode...Twice...Mr. Jones, PURE BRILLIANCE.
Orlando Jones ROCKED that scene!!!!
Mr. Nancy told powerful truths. Such a wonderful, colorful character. Wishing Mr. Orlando Jones mad success.
Loved his A.I character in The Time Machine
Chilling performance
I'm here because he got fired!
Orlando Jones the great actor he is, gave Mr. Nancy story telling was of truth that made you not just listen but hear him, this truth was his power as a God, he made you act not react. It's ashame that they fired him, I was really looking forward to more of what Mr. Nancy had to say!
Mr. Jones OWNED that scene, and every scene he was in thereafter. Unbelievable they let him go from the show!
He is a fantastic actor.
Love this interview, Orlando is very well spoken and educated.
I loved Mr. Nancy in the books and while Orlando Jones isn't what I had in mind for him, he is absolutely amazing.
Very well done...
I haven't watched Episode 2 yet. I'm looking forward to see Orlando Jones's performance. I assume he's one of the "Old Gods", right?
he is Anansi the spider from west african mythology.
Yes, the Ancient God Anansi----which later became Enki the trickster of the Anunaki of Babylonian times
in that scene, he wasn't just a trickster, he was right about slavery and 300 years down the future
yeah so he wanted his revenge against the slavers for what they would do but in a very underhanded way
He didn't tell them the whole story, only the bad parts. Deliberate half-truths and obfuscations.
It was kind of weird because he is a different Mr. Nancy than the character from Anansi Boys, who I felt was essentially benevolent. Although the brief mention he gets in American Gods suggests he is ambiguous but not underhanded.
I hope Marvel take note of this guys skills and cast him in the upcoming Blade.
It is such a shame that they got rid of his character on the show. He was the perfect embodiment of the character. And he is also my favorite character from the book. I really hope that Netflix makes a show of the spin-off books from American Gods, "Anansi Boys" focusing on Mr. Nancy and characters related to him and cast Orlando Jones in a main role.
Still going to watch the show. I find it highly disappointing they fired Mr. Jones. The mans acting and portrayal was superb.
I enjoy her line of questioning great job
That was an awesome part × 🗣all facts👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Mr Jones performance as Mr Nance was outstanding..i was ready to set the ship on fire..
Well even with him being cancelled I never heard of the character or the story until I heard about him being removed from the show. So either way an impact was made. Much respect to Brutha Jones. I checked out some clips and that shit was intense. Thanks for the knowledge...✊✊💪💪
it's interesting how orlando put that - moving commas and periods where you want them to be.
Powerful and truthful monologue...
He is a very talented intelligent man, I can't wait for the next season.
No more American Gods for me. Should have kept the season 1 format. Anansi was the reason I came back.
I still can't believe this is the guy that made "Make 7-Up yours!"
whats the one played when Anansi gave the monologue, the saxophone one?
Bravo that scene was brilliant 🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰.... you will be missed ✊🏾✊🏾
The best scene I have ever seen.
He’s an excellent actor
I just stumbled on some American Gods UA-cam clips and got a bit hooked... It seems seriously bizarre, very creative, and the casting is brilliant. Two of the clips I watched had monologues by Mr. Jones (who I had never heard of or seen before) and I thought they were both riveting.
I am a bit taken aback by people saying that Mr. Jones was "fired". Maybe some can reply to this post and explain why he was, or people think he was, fired. He's clearly a great actor (and I doubt he will have any difficulty getting more work :) ). And was he really "fired"?... Game of Thrones had Ned Stark/Sean Bean's head cut off in the early years of that series but no one says Sean Bean got "fired."

Great and hes a master in that moment.
Anansi probably already cut a deal with the new gods, I mean the browser you're using is connected to the World Wide Web.. lol And the internet is the biggest trickster of'em all.
abcage funny 😄
abcage nice one
Oh! Good one!
Orlando!!!
The dude rocks whatever part or movie he's in, I'm going back as far as MADTV.
I got the american gods, and Nancy books just because of Orlando. It's a shame he got fired not gonna watch this show anymore
This can be be the same guy that played Mr. Anasi....wow the spirit is strong he looks totally different
OUTSTANDING !!!
Excellent, dialogue 👍. They should hire him back. If he'll go back.
Orlando you are like a phoenix you continue to rise out of the ashes
👑Mr Exceptional
Bro please do this character again he need his own story
I’m gonna follow this guy now
Orlando Jones is an amazing actor. Most people have only seen his comedic skills. I think it terrified those in control of this show that he came out of the gate preaching revolt. And that he got more intense as the series continued, instead of toning it down to the voice of everlasting, and unending patience that whites want blacks to have. "Turn your problems over to God, or Jesus". They had to stop him before he used this as a platform for truth and action.
Bring him back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"That was what was on the Page." and they fired him for saying it? WTF!?
If ever we needed Mr. Nancy back it's now.
He Killed it!
Afrakans it's time we Stand Up!!!
The interviewer is annoying with her "uh-huh"ing the whole time.
Is this the first time I’ve actually heard Orlando Jones’ actual speaking voice???
Love to a Madtv Vet get a role.
Mr.Orlando!!!! 😌😌😌
Great 👍🏽
Everyone who called for Orlando Jones to get booted off of the show to apologies to him immediately.
I was first introduced to anansi the spider through African folk tales. I didn't know he was considered a pagan "god".
STARZ IS OFFICIALLY CANCELLED, FOR FKING OVER ORLANDO.
That is a brilliant suit, BTW.
I was in the kitchen and I heard Mr. Nancy speech.
I was curious who is he talking too?
I was in hypnosis.
It was as if I was on that boat.
They wrote it. But he SAID it!
I need this show mr.anansi show
They misspelled that on purpose
This looks nothing like Orlando Jones 👀👀👀👀👀
Lol, them glasses is that cuw
Since he was a writer for the show. Couldn’t he write something on his own and do not a spin off but a show of Mr. Nancy?
The interview should be silent. Detracts from his answer.
ITS HIM.
Bring Mr Nanci back
Scary Truth! Gives the chills! BLM!
Is it me or did this guy get alot Darker than he was on Drumline
I like it ... he played god part right
Why they fired him
Watch the episode s2
5/5
in the spider stories I read as a kid (and still today) Anansi was cunning and manipulative, but not malicious, or passionate. he never did anything like, I dunno, convincing a bunch of terrified and desperate people to burn themselves to death.
Beni Habibi are you serious? They’re dead anyways
Beni Habibi They burned the masters as well.
You missed the point, Beni. Anansi, a legend to the Africans captured by the slave traders, answered their desperate prayers and used his cunning to free them from their shackles. What might be uncharacteristic is the inspired vindication of setting fire to the oppressor's ship, resulting in their double-edged demise. Still, he was not manipulating them when he explained the situation they were in. We can surmise that these people -even if they were able to somehow win over control of the ship from the armed captors- would still be left to a fate just as grave as immolation.
He was the most talented.. when I discuss excellent acting, I show Mr. Nancy monologues along with the other greats. A completely underrated actor silenced by the same fools of this world that prolly claim to support free speech.. but only when it aligns with their post-fact comfortable pseudo reality
Free for who?
Orlando Jones used to be light skinned. Did he get a tan or what ?
He got cloned 👿
They really messed up.
Did he trick her into agreeing racism will continue next hundred and so on is that forever wow
