Thank you soooo very much for this video! You are an excellent teacher, as you show exactly where the hook should go, and you explain everything so very well. You have helped me so much understanding the back loops when crocheting in the round, and you taught me a new stitch. I cant thank you enough for this. It has made crocheting in the round so much more enjoyable for me, as I now can clearly see what I am doing instead of guessing half the time and hoping it comes out ok.
You are very very very welcome. I plan to start doing more stitch tutorials soon. I purchased some yarn with really nice stitch definition for the tutorials. (Not fuzzy yarn.)
Thank you Lynsey. I have two WIPs, very different, but intend adapt closely to this smart and versatile border. Please keep guiding us with excellent tutorials and patterns. Sorry if I have spelled your name incorrectly. Keep safe and well.
If you work all in one direction in rounds then the back of the piece is smooth. If you work in back and forth rows, then the back of the piece looks like the front of your work.
Thank you! I forgot where exactly to find the 3rd loop and wanted to make more hats like one I already have & love but in different colors. I found the pattern even but couldn't figure out how to get it to look exactly like the one I previously made. I needed the version that is worked in the round and has a stretchy, knit look to it. Your video saved me! ^_^ Liked & subscribed!
I do not have a video tutorial for the washcloth but I have a video tutorial for a face scrubbie that is based off the washcloth. If you know how to make a basic half double crochet circle you would be able to extend the face scrubbie. ua-cam.com/video/fkzhV83zX78/v-deo.html
Monster Butters when you reach the end of the row you will chain 2 and turn your work. The you will work the next row of half double crochet into the third loop. Be aware that when turning your rows the third loop will be on the front of your work.
why does it look like you are doing the third loop in front in rows, but in the back when working in rounds? All other videos show the third loop in the back, and this works for me, but I can't get my hook into the loop in front. Confused....
I am. When you are working in rounds the third loop is located on the back of your work because we work on in one direction, but when working in rows you turn your work so the third loop is now located on the front of the work below the front loop. Video that show the loop in the back are working all in one direction.
Thanks, found a nice hat pattern that did this but kept calling it 'single crochet'. There is no third loop in single crochet and it was driving me bonkers.
I’ve read your blog post, but can’t find a video tutorial for your “Yarn Over Slip Stitch through the 3rd loop on the FRONT”🙁 Is the stitch worked the same as this? UNDER the 3rd loop on the front?
The yarn over slip stitch is worked through the back loop only. At least that is how I like to work it. If you want to work it through the 3rd loop on the front then it would be like this.
Here is the link to my channel. There should be a subscribe button. ua-cam.com/channels/pITx_hEoMw0xt5h0P3eBMA.html I just posted my first crochet pattern video! I am not posting in left and right handed.
I cannot stand this stitch. I always get confused on the placement because it seems easy to identify the 3rd loop, but isn’t. Somehow mine always looks inside out. I was hoping this video would clarify that issue, but it was still a little difficult for me, because the yarn is the same color as the hook. And I even enlarged it. Just a thought to keep in mind, for future videos. 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you. This is one of my first video. It can be tricky because after working one row it starts to look like you are working in the back loop only because the front and backloop are twisted forward and the third loop is in the place that you would normally see the back loop.
I turned the sound off and just focused on the visual aspect and that helped me tremendously. You don’t want to go on the inside of the V you wanna go on the outside to make a decorative arrow kind of pattern. I haven’t tried it yet. I’m about to, hope that helps
Your are correct it does look like I am crocheting into the back loop in the round this is because the top 'v' of the loop has turned forward and the third loop is where a back loop would normally be. The difference is the front of the stitch you can see the entire 'v' that would normally be the top of the stitch. If I was just crocheting into the back loop only you would only see a horizontal bar (the front loop) on the front of your work instead of seeing the entire 'v'.
Thank you soooo very much for this video! You are an excellent teacher, as you show exactly where the hook should go, and you explain everything so very well. I loved how you highlighted the parts of the stitches! It makes learning so much easier!
Glad it was helpful!
Have been searching for a how-to video on this stitch. THANK YOU!
You are very welcome!
Thank you. Your tutorial was so succinct and incredibly easy to understand. Kind regards.
I am glad it helped.
Good explanation for 3rd loop hdc crochet. No garish nail varnish to distract. Your attention.
Ok thank you

Thank you! Will do!
Thank you for demonstrating in the round on how to join to the first stitch.😍
You are so welcome!
You are an excellent teacher, thank you!
Wow, thank you!
Thanks for sharing your talent on these different stitches. Rose ❤️🌹
You are so welcome!
SUPER clear explanation. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you…had a pattern for a chemo cap but didn’t understand the 3rd loop….🥰
Yes it is hard to explain in writing. I always include photo instructions in my patterns for the third loop and link to this video.
Thank you for showing both techniques!! Appreciate it and nice video!
Glad you liked it!
It would be good to see how the back of the work ends up as well for me as a newbie. Thanks
If you work all in one direction in rounds then the back of the piece is smooth. If you work in back and forth rows, then the back of the piece looks like the front of your work.
Thank you. This was excellent!
.You are welcome. This was actually one of my first videos. I am glad it was helpful.
Very helpful and clear video. Ty

Hi there I love to see how you did the round blue I think it's a washcloth or pot holder thank you see you soon thank you.!!

I was wondering if you could clarify how to turn and go back when working in rows. Thanks!

@@WindingRoadCrochet ah, oh I was confused about that 3rd loop being in the front. Thanks so much for clarifying!
You are very welcome
So when you turn your work the third loop will always be in the front? Unless you are doing what you showed in you second example correct??
👍🏻 love your tutorials 🩷
Thank you so much for this! ❤
No problem 😊
Great video.
Thank You!
Merci beaucoup, je comprends enfin ce point ! 💐
Merci
Thanks so much!
You're welcome!
Can you make a tutorial of the hgreen flat circle spiral....please
The green flat circle spiral? Do you mean the washcloth using this stitch?
@@WindingRoadCrochet yes, a tutorial of the green flat spiral
That's cool.
Thanks!

You are very welcome.
Do you have a tutorial for the spiral using this this stitch?
Yes and no. I actually just recorded a pattern that uses this in a spiral but I have not edited or shared it yet. It is coming.
Thank you! 😊
You are very welcome.
Thanks!
No problem!
Do you have a video doing this stitch when starting with a MR?
Technically I do with my seeing spiral face scrubby, but I chose a darker yarn in that video so it might not be the easiest to see.
Thank you
You are welcome.
Do you have a tutorial on UA-cam for the folded crochet stitch?
Yes I just uploaded it. ua-cam.com/video/HDFwjCeQ-1w/v-deo.html
Ohhh, I just found it, thanks...
You are welcome
Thanks, found a nice hat pattern that did this but kept calling it 'single crochet'. There is no third loop in single crochet and it was driving me bonkers.
Yes you are correct. I think there might be a 'third loop' for double crochet but I haven't tried it.
❤😊Thanks😊

This looks like using the back loop in the round. I don’t know what you are calling ‘third’ loop.
