      A LOT of people use crayolas because of their ability to get better line variation than some “professional” markers. They really shine if you ditch crayolas ink and refill it with something like copic ink. They also have a wonderfully flexible and thick nib that you can still get a solid point out of.

      Sharpies aren’t as good as Crayolas for this believe it or not. At least not unless it’s their brush pen. Crayolas actually have a really flexible and wide nib that allows for some really thick and decently thin lines.

      That’s mainly because of the superior line quality you get out of them. That’s said if you work with something enough you can get solid results out of it. Problem with crayolas I’ve found is that unless the ink is swapped out for something better, the Black is too light for my tastes.

    • @1977moonchild1
      @1977moonchild1 7 років тому +8

      Michael C I decided for no reason to also watch this video and I went through the comments to see if anyone had the same question! Which is " what's the point of the tracing of the shapes after he had the drawings done"! ?? There is no point to doing this. Am I missing something?

    • @michaelc3977
      @michaelc3977 7 років тому +9

      Yeah the guy in the video likes to think of himself as an instructor, when in reality he is working subconsciously and then trying to fit a formula to explain what he's doing. Entertaining as any mediocre street artist, however, he's not a teacher.

    • @rddsknk89
      @rddsknk89 7 років тому +11

      He's doing it to show you the basic shapes he is looking at while drawing. It would be kind of difficult to draw the shapes and THEN draw the person, don't you think? Especially considering the shapes would ruin the look of the picture.

    • @Analuisardh
      @Analuisardh 4 роки тому +1

      Pretend the light is coming from one side, like the right. The shading would then go on the left side. Try it with a lamp shining on one side of some still life objects. Look for the light; look for the shade.
