I have been drawing just over 2 yrs, starting at 61... I am the first to admit that I cannot draw, but by profession I am a Scientist and researcher. I started drawing after calculating ratios of the relation of eyes, nose, etc to the face. I'm STILL no artist, and will never be in your league... but your advice is exactly how I do portraits & other sketches that people will pay for. Thanks for the advice & encouragement!

Come on man! You really think because of how good his art is you’ll never get to his level? Look. We ALL started off bad. My art I made when I was starting off was really bad. But even when I don’t feel like it, I try to draw often and find tips and tricks to improve my art while also studying the human body. That’s how my drawings got better. Yes, sketching in the anatomical structure can avoid surprises at the end. However, I am always amazed that no one seems to focus on the mouth. Get that right and you have a likeness. Don't and it's just another head. The mouth is key.
In a Stefan Baumann video on UA-cam, he claims that the most important part of the face is the eyes. When people look you in the face, the first place they will always look is into your eyes. He always states that you only have to have one perfect eye as in that you can only focus on area at a time.
Not that i’ve tried to capture a person’s likeness ever before, but imo it’s the proportions of the face first and then all of the other nitty gritty bits of details.

@@madmantheepic7278 I have tried many times. The only time I am satisfied is when I get the mouth right. Of course the proportions are vital. So are the eyes, but the mouth is what's crucial. The most famous eyes I can think of are Elizabeth Taylor's but a picture with someone else's mouth would make people say, "Whose the pretty woman with the great eyes?" Now take a picture of Elisabeth and use someone else's eyes, Natalie Wood or Catherine Zeta Jones for instance. More often than not people will say, "Elizabeth looks funny." Just sayin'
He's right I already knew this, yet I have been annoyed by the slow pace of my current work. I have been getting arrogant in believing I was now good enough to skip these basic steps and it takes me longer thusly. Ive seen people who skip them but these people are usually professional artists who have been doing this for 12 hours a day as their job for 30 + years, dont skip out on the basics until you dont even have to ask yourself if you're confident enough to do so, as you'll have it down to a muscle memory
Agree, and you ask the professional artists of 30 years and they would say they still mentally have the shape model in their minds (even if they don’t need to draw it out due to experience)
This is SO helpful. I struggled a lot when I draw my character's eyes first. What I drew looks weird. Yet drawing the head first immediately makes my character looks correct. Thx and also thx for the subtitle!

This is a great way of helping beginners and making sure you don’t give up on a drawing. Alongside this, though, I want anyone following this advice to keep in mind just what stands out to you in the reference at first glance, in your peripheral vision, or what it’s doing in your memory. If the reference picture has a straight-edged crisp look you should ask yourself _why_ it comes across that way. Maybe it’s the way the nose points upwards or how the brows are raised and pointing the eyes forward, maybe the shadows are chiseling down the actual structure into something else. Whatever it is, it’s important to recognize what your first impression is and study why it is, because you can’t keep measuring every angle and every point of distance-you’ll go insane! And if something doesn’t look like the reference and it makes you frustrated, this is a good way of trying to find out the _why._
@@jordan4835 This same rule can apply! Whatever you imagine will still have some key elements you’d like to include, and sometimes those may be just the emotion they convey or personality they allude to. Usually working on it from the foundations of shapes helps me through something purely imagined, like evaluating what a different angle of a smile could do to the rest of the face and vice versa in a game of trial and error. At the same time, I highly recommend finding reference first when drawing if you feel as though your connection to proportions and realism needs strength. Making sure you can draw someone from reference first is a certified way of improving your art so you CAN work on a piece solely from imagination. Other than that I say just experiment until you find the groove of what’s right
tips sounds more easy, something quick and concise, and techniques take more time to perfect, so you get more views calling it a tip of hack, i guess. you have a very good point

Because for younger/beginner artists, it easy for them to overlook fundamentals and foundation lines and they're trying to improve quickly. Using the word "trick" catches their eye because the word "technique" or any other similar words keeps getting thrown at them when they ask how can they get better. Think of it as cleaning your room, if your parents/Guardians tell you to do it then it won't be fun. But if you put on some music and turn it into a game or something then it will be more enjoyable.

You may be trying to run before you can walk - even very experienced artists find symmetry difficult. It's like the old "I can't even draw a straight line" - well, neither can anyone else, without a ruler. If I were you, I would abandon symmetry for a while and work on subjects and poses that don't need it. Full-frontal symmetrical portraits are a bit boring, it's more interesting if the head is turned a little. Loosen up and stop worrying if it's symmetrical or straight or perfect. And you know what? Faces aren't remotely symmetrical anyway. Take a selfie, mirror it and compare. You'll be surprised how asymmetrical you are!
I struggle in symmetry it's really hard my tip is don't be hard to your self I tried digital drawing and saw mirror and I used it and I got to say 2 MUCH SYMMETRY IS WEIRD ps your face is not symmetry Try this make a grid search it on UA-cam for more info grid helps me slot and when you use it eventually you can doit without a grid hope this helps and I'm so sorry if I suck at english it's not my native language
I've watched a few videos by Stefan Baumann on UA-cam and when it comes to things like Eyes, you only really need one good eye and you can ignore the other one. When people look at an eye, they usually can only focus on one at a time. i would suspect that this could be used for all symmetry.
im a cartoony artist so i never do realism but my art teacher insists we do realism. i didnt think this would help much but i never really thought of these methods. much appreciated 🙏
Yessir, starting with a simple structure that accounts for the major landmarks and planes of the head will help the drawing maintain the proportions necessary for a realistic final product once the later stages are applied. It’s not an easy path, but a very effective one if one sticks with it. The alternative, in my experience, is trying to pin everything down without a frame of reference, which can lead to small, subtle misplacements without any roadmap to trace back to where exactly things didn’t come together.

I thought when you rely on grid lines, outlining proportions or even using carbon copy when come to drawings especially in Portraits you feel yourselves like cheating... I have been doing lots of Freehand drawings avoiding measurements and so forth and always find the finishing is not perfect. I think using the proper tools as shown is a good way or a discipline for a good artwork. Thanks.
I think if you use a proportional divider/compass it will help make you more sensitive towards proportions and than one day, you don't really need one (I'm hoping anyway). Better than tracing or using projectors though.
@@salsa6402 I do freehand too...Sometimes I achieve the likeness in minutes but for some portraits, I have to redraw several times before getting a promisable look...I believe one must do art in whatever way makes one happy but when you got clients and all, spending too much on one thing may harm your productivity so artists tend to "cheat" with tools
Thank you for the help! I have been finding myself "stuck " when drawing certain characters/people and was not quite sure why they looked a little...off. Basics! Just being reminded to start with the basic shapes and dimensions has made a world of difference! Tools! I have never used a measurement triangle (I don't know the correct name for it) but I am going to purchase one now! I used to think it would be "cheating" or that I wasn't as talented if I used them. Now I see that that type of thinking is nonsense! A carpenter wouldn't think less of his work because he used an electric saw instead of a handheld saw. Or a block of wood to hit a nail if he had a hammer. Thank you for helping me to grow as an artist. May God bless you and your family ! ✌🙏❤

Yes! :D These tricks might make us go slower, but that's often the key to great artwork. One of the main things about art is going slowly. Don't rush it. It's hard to remember, but it's worth it. I don't always remember and get annoyed at myself lol.
I’ve noticed this. On the days when I just sit and spend 3-5 hours on a drawing, it’s great. On the days where I’m just trying to get some quick practice in because I’m busy, the results are much less consistent and universally worse than my less “time-efficient” work.

Repetir, repetir, repetir Eventualmente, con tanto dibujar, encontrar perspectivas diferentes, y observar como funcionan las sombras en diferentes superficies, tendrás autoconfianza y podrás pintar todo lo que quieras Pero este no es el punto final, eventualmente tendrás que estudiar teoría de color y valores para hacer tus obras más vibrantes y consistentes.
Si pero también es descansar ya que el cerebro tiene que asimilar todo lo que dibujas los trazos y eso ya que todo lo que toma de información y más el dibujo aveses no es capas de procesar lo entero
@@xfelixowo4710 El descanso es muy importante tambien, y tambien se me olvidó mencionar la anatomia también, pero en ese caso tambien puedes deconstruir la misma anatomía, aunque se requiere un estudio más extenso y no puedes simplemente usar esferas. Ahora, hay veces en el que no toda la información del dibujo se procesa, por ejemplo algunos estilos de animación no muestran todas las sombras posibles, pero lo que importa es comunicar visualmente lo importante y no enfocarse demasiado en los detalles, a eso se le llama composición.

My mum had many art books that i would copy and study, everything was drawn starting with shapes, i started to stop that and do things free hand, which is probably why im never satified with my work, so i might start using shapes again.
Also remember to utilize a full value range, make sure that your darks and lights are representative of the reference you're using. That seems to be a big part of the realism in your 3rd drawing as opposed to the first two, not just proportions

@@Jerusalem656 Así como al principio realiza una abstracción de la figura del cráneo utilizando formas geométricas reconocibles, podes delimitar los lugares que van sombreados con figuras geométricas regulares o irregulares. Por ejemplo triángulos para la zona del cuello, la zona de la comisura de los labios o la sombra que proyecta la ceja. Espero te sirva. Saludos!
This is actually quite interesting, because I have seen a study that focused on exactly this. People were shown three pictures: one of a boy's face, one of the same boy's face but slightly stretched to be longer, and one slightly stretched to be shorter. They were asked to point out which one seemed the youngest and which one seemed the eldest. The majority found that the longer the face, the more mature the boy looked. It's also of course true for most people that as they mature, their face gets slimmer. Quite interesting!

So true! Thank you for this. It was a pleasure to watch. You didn’t quite get a true likeness on the third portrait though. That’s the tricky part. How do you capture that subtle difference between the drawing and the photo to get that face to really look like the model?
The best way to replicate a person through drawing is to focus on the unique, stand-out features of said person, whether facial or bodily. If you nail those core characteristics, the rest doesn't have to look perfect because the model is already easily recognizable.
I believe that a reference is exactly that, a reference. Likeness isn't really that important because at the end of the day, your painting hangs alone, not next to the reference! But that is simply my opinion,,
when drawing, people tend to soften out features of a reference, even unintentionally. i find it useful to identify anything that's unique- the shape of the eyes, the length of the nose, the height of the cheekbones- and almost caricaturize them when I draw. almost every time, when I come back to it later, it's never as extreme as I thought it was when I drew it.

Te quedó con mejor estructura en el tercero pero tienes más ojo para dibujar de vista porque las proporciones de barbilla,mejilla y nariz son casi parecidas a las de la foto de referencia. Es decir, la primera imagen se ve mejor que las otras 2 en proporción aunque los típs son muy buenos para pasar el dibujo.
@@gretathunberg8038 por lo poco que se las proporciones es el tamaño de ciertos elementos de nuestro dibujo en relacion a otros elementos. Por ejemplo, imaginate que dibujamos una mano. Definimos que el grosor de los dedos de la mano sera de 3 cm (por poner un ejemplo) y luego, sin darnos cuenta, uno de nuestros dedos en el dibujo mide 6 cm (mas grueso de lo que habiamos definido). En ese caso, estariamos hablando de un dedo desproporcionado, puesto que ese dedo de 6 cm no respeta las proporciones de nuestro dibujo (es decir que en relacion al resto de dedos, ese estaria mal proporcionado). En resumen, las proporciones son las relaciones de tamaño entre los distintos elementos de nuestro dibujo y la fidelidad con la que los representamos.
@@gretathunberg8038 el concepto de bien hecho o mal hecho es relativo a lo que tu quieras hacer. Si tu intencion es hacer un dibujo desproporcionado a proposito, estara perfecto siempre y cuando quede como tu deseas. Las proporciones se suelen utilizar para generar imagenes coherentes y fieles a la "realidad", es decir que se utiliza para que la imagen tenga un cierto sentido y relacion entre los tamaños de sus elementos. Si tu buscas romper estas proporciones intencionalmente esta perfecto, pero si estas dibujando realismo o algo semejante, las proporciones son las que permiten que la imagen se vea coherente y "armoniosa". Tambien se me escapo destacar que las proporciones van de la mano de la perspectiva, y por ende, dependiendo de el angulo, la distancia, la inclinacion y otros factores, los tamaños cambian (pero manteniendo la proporcion). En resumen, las proporciones le dan coherencia a la imagen, hacen que todo se vea en su sitio y que nada nos chirrie por como fue dibujado, pero esto, como todo en el arte, es una regla que puedes perfectamente romper a proposito, siempre y cuando seas conciente de lo que haces y porque lo haces...
@@gretathunberg8038 Si tú pones un dibujo bien proporcionado y le pones en el otro lado de la simetría (esto digitalmente se hace muy bien pero no sé cómo se llama a eso técnicamente) el dibujo queda simétrico. Sin embargo si no está bien proporcionado al hacer la simetría se nota muchísimo las desproporciones. Tiene que haber vídeos por ahí que sirvan de ejemplo porque yo no sé explicarlo bien ya que no tengo los conocimientos. Lo sé porque soy curioso y me gusta ver todo tipo de cosas y un día estuve viendo ese tema. Cuando hablo de simetría es cuando coges esa cara y tal cual está la pones mirando al otro lado. Para hacer una línea "imaginaría" en el centro y dos dibujos "simétricos" a cada lado. Si haces bien las proporciones sale simétrico y eso a primera vista no se nota al menos no para gente que no está entrenada
it really does help. I didnt used to draw them because i thought it was pointless and took up time, but you'd be surprised how quickly and efficiently you can draw when you get down the basic shapes first
What's funny is that yesterday I decided to finally use that one trick where you do the circle and then the triangle to do the head. I had been overlooking this technique for so long simply because I didn't think I needed it. Months before this I had been struggling with my style and art, and this was the piece to the puzzle that I was missing!

Este consejo es aplicable a tantos campos... Los músicos a veces creen que ya no necesitan el metrónomo, o afinador, cuando da igual el nivel te van a facilitar la vida y mejorar tus resultados. Incluso en la vida, en las relaciones, seguir siendo agradecido, comprando regalos en navidad y dando perdón y compresión, son cosas sencillas que sabemos que nos darán un camino más bello, pero que por alguna razón a veces dejamos de darles importancia. Da igual que creamos que ya lo saben. Seguir diciendo TE QUIERO y GRACIAS son las líneas guía de nuestra vida que no debemos pasar por alto con el tiempo.

Te felicito porque me acabas de explicar lo que ningún profesor de dibujo me enseño en toda la secundaria, lo único que me ponían a hacer era dibujar frutas, figuras geométricas y demás sin siquiera explicarme las perspectivas, los planos, el claroscuro,etc. Muy buen vídeo
Es impresionante, a veces el dibujo es como la vida, hasta los más pequeños detalles son muy importantes, y muchas veces el pasado nos enseña lecciones para ser mejores
Dibujar es como ir al gym, si no eres constante y disciplinado no veras resultados, por eso los ejercicios nos ayudan a mejorar. No se desanimen esfuercense.
Gracias, es súper útil. No había pensado que podría cambiar tanto el dibujo final con las estructuras, ni que esto es lo que le da más grado de realismo o cartoon a un personaje.

I have been drawing just over 2 yrs, starting at 61... I am the first to admit that I cannot draw, but by profession I am a Scientist and researcher. I started drawing after calculating ratios of the relation of eyes, nose, etc to the face.
I'm STILL no artist, and will never be in your league... but your advice is exactly how I do portraits & other sketches that people will pay for.

Come on man! You really think because of how good his art is you’ll never get to his level? Look. We ALL started off bad. My art I made when I was starting off was really bad. But even when I don’t feel like it, I try to draw often and find tips and tricks to improve my art while also studying the human body. That’s how my drawings got better. Yes, sketching in the anatomical structure can avoid surprises at the end. However, I am always amazed that no one seems to focus on the mouth. Get that right and you have a likeness. Don't and it's just another head. The mouth is key.
In a Stefan Baumann video on UA-cam, he claims that the most important part of the face is the eyes. When people look you in the face, the first place they will always look is into your eyes. He always states that you only have to have one perfect eye as in that you can only focus on area at a time.

Not that i’ve tried to capture a person’s likeness ever before, but imo it’s the proportions of the face first and then all of the other nitty gritty bits of details.

@@madmantheepic7278 I have tried many times. The only time I am satisfied is when I get the mouth right. Of course the proportions are vital. So are the eyes, but the mouth is what's crucial. The most famous eyes I can think of are Elizabeth Taylor's but a picture with someone else's mouth would make people say, "Whose the pretty woman with the great eyes?" Now take a picture of Elisabeth and use someone else's eyes, Natalie Wood or Catherine Zeta Jones for instance. More often than not people will say, "Elizabeth looks funny." Just sayin'
He's right I already knew this, yet I have been annoyed by the slow pace of my current work. I have been getting arrogant in believing I was now good enough to skip these basic steps and it takes me longer thusly.
Ive seen people who skip them but these people are usually professional artists who have been doing this for 12 hours a day as their job for 30 + years, dont skip out on the basics until you dont even have to ask yourself if you're confident enough to do so, as you'll have it down to a muscle memory
Agree, and you ask the professional artists of 30 years and they would say they still mentally have the shape model in their minds (even if they don’t need to draw it out due to experience)

This is a great way of helping beginners and making sure you don’t give up on a drawing. Alongside this, though, I want anyone following this advice to keep in mind just what stands out to you in the reference at first glance, in your peripheral vision, or what it’s doing in your memory.
If the reference picture has a straight-edged crisp look you should ask yourself _why_ it comes across that way. Maybe it’s the way the nose points upwards or how the brows are raised and pointing the eyes forward, maybe the shadows are chiseling down the actual structure into something else.
Whatever it is, it’s important to recognize what your first impression is and study why it is, because you can’t keep measuring every angle and every point of distance-you’ll go insane! And if something doesn’t look like the reference and it makes you frustrated, this is a good way of trying to find out the _why._

Whatever you imagine will still have some key elements you’d like to include, and sometimes those may be just the emotion they convey or personality they allude to. Usually working on it from the foundations of shapes helps me through something purely imagined, like evaluating what a different angle of a smile could do to the rest of the face and vice versa in a game of trial and error. At the same time, I highly recommend finding reference first when drawing if you feel as though your connection to proportions and realism needs strength. Making sure you can draw someone from reference first is a certified way of improving your art so you CAN work on a piece solely from imagination. Other than that I say just experiment until you find the groove of what’s right

One word “gimmick”
Because for younger/beginner artists, it easy for them to overlook fundamentals and foundation lines and they're trying to improve quickly. Using the word "trick" catches their eye because the word "technique" or any other similar words keeps getting thrown at them when they ask how can they get better.
Think of it as cleaning your room, if your parents/Guardians tell you to do it then it won't be fun. But if you put on some music and turn it into a game or something then it will be more enjoyable.

The one thing I heavily struggle with is symmetry.
You may be trying to run before you can walk - even very experienced artists find symmetry difficult. It's like the old "I can't even draw a straight line" - well, neither can anyone else, without a ruler.
If I were you, I would abandon symmetry for a while and work on subjects and poses that don't need it. Full-frontal symmetrical portraits are a bit boring, it's more interesting if the head is turned a little. Loosen up and stop worrying if it's symmetrical or straight or perfect.
And you know what? Faces aren't remotely symmetrical anyway. Take a selfie, mirror it and compare. You'll be surprised how asymmetrical you are!
I struggle in symmetry it's really hard my tip is don't be hard to your self I tried digital drawing and saw mirror and I used it and I got to say 2 MUCH SYMMETRY IS WEIRD ps your face is not symmetry

I've watched a few videos by Stefan Baumann on UA-cam and when it comes to things like Eyes, you only really need one good eye and you can ignore the other one. When people look at an eye, they usually can only focus on one at a time. i would suspect that this could be used for all symmetry.

Yessir, starting with a simple structure that accounts for the major landmarks and planes of the head will help the drawing maintain the proportions necessary for a realistic final product once the later stages are applied. It’s not an easy path, but a very effective one if one sticks with it.
The alternative, in my experience, is trying to pin everything down without a frame of reference, which can lead to small, subtle misplacements without any roadmap to trace back to where exactly things didn’t come together.

I thought when you rely on grid lines, outlining proportions or even using carbon copy when come to drawings especially in Portraits you feel yourselves like cheating... I have been doing lots of Freehand drawings avoiding measurements and so forth and always find the finishing is not perfect. I think using the proper tools as shown is a good way or a discipline for a good artwork. Thanks.
I think if you use a proportional divider/compass it will help make you more sensitive towards proportions and than one day, you don't really need one (I'm hoping anyway). Better than tracing or using projectors though.

@@salsa6402 I do freehand too...Sometimes I achieve the likeness in minutes but for some portraits, I have to redraw several times before getting a promisable look...I believe one must do art in whatever way makes one happy but when you got clients and all, spending too much on one thing may harm your productivity so artists tend to "cheat" with tools

Basics! Just being reminded to start with the basic shapes and dimensions has made a world of difference!
Tools! I have never used a measurement triangle (I don't know the correct name for it) but I am going to purchase one now! I used to think it would be "cheating" or that I wasn't as talented if I used them. Now I see that that type of thinking is nonsense! A carpenter wouldn't think less of his work because he used an electric saw instead of a handheld saw. Or a block of wood to hit a nail if he had a hammer.

These tricks might make us go slower, but that's often the key to great artwork. One of the main things about art is going slowly. Don't rush it. It's hard to remember, but it's worth it. I don't always remember and get annoyed at myself lol.
I’ve noticed this. On the days when I just sit and spend 3-5 hours on a drawing, it’s great. On the days where I’m just trying to get some quick practice in because I’m busy, the results are much less consistent and universally worse than my less “time-efficient” work.

La mejor forma de practicar y mejorar tu dibujo es:
1. Coger una referencia
2. Deconstruir la referencia, simplificar el modelo con figuras geometricas y una especie de cuadricula para cada figura. Los puntos de fuga son bastante importantes tambien para darle dinamismo a la pintura
3. Repetir, repetir, repetir
Eventualmente, con tanto dibujar, encontrar perspectivas diferentes, y observar como funcionan las sombras en diferentes superficies, tendrás autoconfianza y podrás pintar todo lo que quieras
Pero este no es el punto final, eventualmente tendrás que estudiar teoría de color y valores para hacer tus obras más vibrantes y consistentes.

@@xfelixowo4710 El descanso es muy importante tambien, y tambien se me olvidó mencionar la anatomia también, pero en ese caso tambien puedes deconstruir la misma anatomía, aunque se requiere un estudio más extenso y no puedes simplemente usar esferas.
Ahora, hay veces en el que no toda la información del dibujo se procesa, por ejemplo algunos estilos de animación no muestran todas las sombras posibles, pero lo que importa es comunicar visualmente lo importante y no enfocarse demasiado en los detalles, a eso se le llama composición.

Guys this truly works because I had been drewing this way for almost a year know it helps alot because I always use shapes in my art and not only the shapes he tells in the video
My mum had many art books that i would copy and study, everything was drawn starting with shapes, i started to stop that and do things free hand, which is probably why im never satified with my work, so i might start using shapes again.
From left to right, I think that the three drawings resemble Elvis Presley, John Travolta, and James Dean.
Also remember to utilize a full value range, make sure that your darks and lights are representative of the reference you're using. That seems to be a big part of the realism in your 3rd drawing as opposed to the first two, not just proportions

@@Jerusalem656 Así como al principio realiza una abstracción de la figura del cráneo utilizando formas geométricas reconocibles, podes delimitar los lugares que van sombreados con figuras geométricas regulares o irregulares.
Por ejemplo triángulos para la zona del cuello, la zona de la comisura de los labios o la sombra que proyecta la ceja.

I think the face is rounder in his drawing.
I think its partly the rounding of the face. And the less prominent jaw. Plus the lip is higher are collected at the nose.

This is actually quite interesting, because I have seen a study that focused on exactly this. People were shown three pictures: one of a boy's face, one of the same boy's face but slightly stretched to be longer, and one slightly stretched to be shorter. They were asked to point out which one seemed the youngest and which one seemed the eldest. The majority found that the longer the face, the more mature the boy looked. It's also of course true for most people that as they mature, their face gets slimmer. Quite interesting!

You didn’t quite get a true likeness on the third portrait though. That’s the tricky part. How do you capture that subtle difference between the drawing and the photo to get that face to really look like the model?
A video on that is comming.
The best way to replicate a person through drawing is to focus on the unique, stand-out features of said person, whether facial or bodily. If you nail those core characteristics, the rest doesn't have to look perfect because the model is already easily recognizable.
I believe that a reference is exactly that, a reference. Likeness isn't really that important because at the end of the day, your painting hangs alone, not next to the reference! But that is simply my opinion,,
when drawing, people tend to soften out features of a reference, even unintentionally. i find it useful to identify anything that's unique- the shape of the eyes, the length of the nose, the height of the cheekbones- and almost caricaturize them when I draw. almost every time, when I come back to it later, it's never as extreme as I thought it was when I drew it.

Te quedó con mejor estructura en el tercero pero tienes más ojo para dibujar de vista porque las proporciones de barbilla,mejilla y nariz son casi parecidas a las de la foto de referencia. Es decir, la primera imagen se ve mejor que las otras 2 en proporción aunque los típs son muy buenos para pasar el dibujo.

@@gretathunberg8038 por lo poco que se las proporciones es el tamaño de ciertos elementos de nuestro dibujo en relacion a otros elementos.
Por ejemplo, imaginate que dibujamos una mano.
Definimos que el grosor de los dedos de la mano sera de 3 cm (por poner un ejemplo) y luego, sin darnos cuenta, uno de nuestros dedos en el dibujo mide 6 cm (mas grueso de lo que habiamos definido). En ese caso, estariamos hablando de un dedo desproporcionado, puesto que ese dedo de 6 cm no respeta las proporciones de nuestro dibujo (es decir que en relacion al resto de dedos, ese estaria mal proporcionado).
En resumen, las proporciones son las relaciones de tamaño entre los distintos elementos de nuestro dibujo y la fidelidad con la que los representamos.

@@gretathunberg8038 el concepto de bien hecho o mal hecho es relativo a lo que tu quieras hacer. Si tu intencion es hacer un dibujo desproporcionado a proposito, estara perfecto siempre y cuando quede como tu deseas. Las proporciones se suelen utilizar para generar imagenes coherentes y fieles a la "realidad", es decir que se utiliza para que la imagen tenga un cierto sentido y relacion entre los tamaños de sus elementos. Si tu buscas romper estas proporciones intencionalmente esta perfecto, pero si estas dibujando realismo o algo semejante, las proporciones son las que permiten que la imagen se vea coherente y "armoniosa".
Tambien se me escapo destacar que las proporciones van de la mano de la perspectiva, y por ende, dependiendo de el angulo, la distancia, la inclinacion y otros factores, los tamaños cambian (pero manteniendo la proporcion).
En resumen, las proporciones le dan coherencia a la imagen, hacen que todo se vea en su sitio y que nada nos chirrie por como fue dibujado, pero esto, como todo en el arte, es una regla que puedes perfectamente romper a proposito, siempre y cuando seas conciente de lo que haces y porque lo haces...
@@gretathunberg8038 Si tú pones un dibujo bien proporcionado y le pones en el otro lado de la simetría (esto digitalmente se hace muy bien pero no sé cómo se llama a eso técnicamente) el dibujo queda simétrico. Sin embargo si no está bien proporcionado al hacer la simetría se nota muchísimo las desproporciones.
Tiene que haber vídeos por ahí que sirvan de ejemplo porque yo no sé explicarlo bien ya que no tengo los conocimientos.
Lo sé porque soy curioso y me gusta ver todo tipo de cosas y un día estuve viendo ese tema.
Cuando hablo de simetría es cuando coges esa cara y tal cual está la pones mirando al otro lado. Para hacer una línea "imaginaría" en el centro y dos dibujos "simétricos" a cada lado.
Si haces bien las proporciones sale simétrico y eso a primera vista no se nota al menos no para gente que no está entrenada

it really does help. I didnt used to draw them because i thought it was pointless and took up time, but you'd be surprised how quickly and efficiently you can draw when you get down the basic shapes first

What's funny is that yesterday I decided to finally use that one trick where you do the circle and then the triangle to do the head. I had been overlooking this technique for so long simply because I didn't think I needed it. Months before this I had been struggling with my style and art, and this was the piece to the puzzle that I was missing!

я не понимаю, почему все до сих пор срисовывают,и так ничему не научились. просто не тупо срисовывайте,а запоминайте,как правильно рисовать и что вы недоработали в прошлых рисунках
@@алмщсдвд Тут скорее дело не в запоминании, а в разбиении объекта, который видишь, на более простые формы, и составление этого же объекта обратно из этих форм в своём рисунке

Gracias por el consejo, no se dibujar pero con este tip mi mente como que sentí qué le quite mucha estrés o algo parecido porque tenia la idea que dibujar tenia que ser sin sacar medidas y siempre me preguntaba que como los dibujantes sabían la ubicación de la nariz ojos boca etc . Muchas gracias por tu consejo. Le agradecería si publicará mas vídeos como este hasta luego y cuídese mucho.
Este consejo es aplicable a tantos campos... Los músicos a veces creen que ya no necesitan el metrónomo, o afinador, cuando da igual el nivel te van a facilitar la vida y mejorar tus resultados.
Incluso en la vida, en las relaciones, seguir siendo agradecido, comprando regalos en navidad y dando perdón y compresión, son cosas sencillas que sabemos que nos darán un camino más bello, pero que por alguna razón a veces dejamos de darles importancia.
Da igual que creamos que ya lo saben. Seguir diciendo TE QUIERO y GRACIAS son las líneas guía de nuestra vida que no debemos pasar por alto con el tiempo.

Wow, comencé a dibujar tomando medidas y si note la mejoría, ahora trato de ir calculando al ojo las que puedo y disminuir las medidas que tomo porque siempre pensé que era como hacer trampa 😅 pero ahora veo que no es así, gracias por tu consejo es muy útil, ahora lo puedo ver cómo una herramienta! 😁

Te felicito porque me acabas de explicar lo que ningún profesor de dibujo me enseño en toda la secundaria, lo único que me ponían a hacer era dibujar frutas, figuras geométricas y demás sin siquiera explicarme las perspectivas, los planos, el claroscuro,etc. Muy buen vídeo
Es impresionante, a veces el dibujo es como la vida, hasta los más pequeños detalles son muy importantes, y muchas veces el pasado nos enseña lecciones para ser mejores

Dibujar es como ir al gym, si no eres constante y disciplinado no veras resultados, por eso los ejercicios nos ayudan a mejorar. No se desanimen esfuercense.

Gracias, es súper útil. No había pensado que podría cambiar tanto el dibujo final con las estructuras, ni que esto es lo que le da más grado de realismo o cartoon a un personaje.
esas son bases de como proporcionar mejor el rostro, porque tambien influye el sombreado y otras cosas porque si te das cuenta en el primer dibujo que hizo le puso menos detalle que al ultimo
