The main point of doing a Keto diet is to constantly announce to friends and family that you're doing Keto and so can't eat something specific when you're spending time with them. They absolutely love that.
Also loosing 15lbs of glycogen and water in one week and feeling like keto is the best thing in the world.
"Attention family and friends: I AM IN KETOSIS."
Gotta keep those Vegans in check bruh
Then cook meat not pastries
Same with vegans..
It’s 2024 and humanity can’t figure out what’s good to eat and how much. Fascinating
I mean, we have. It's just that different people thrive with different diets because of genetics and such, but pointing that out makes you racist.
It's not complicated . If it's' processed 'don't eat it ,and try to eat organic ,if possible. Food companies have over complicated things because of 'greed'.
I think another comment explained why keto helps us see things a bit differently. The average American diet is just piles of carbs every meal, many added for no reason except to make the food taste better, but it makes it more caloric.
Keto isn't sustainable for most people but if you do it you see just the massive piles of carbs you have to avoid every single meal. And coming out of that, you might learn some moderation. Suddenly not every ingredient needs added sugars or bread to taste good
Well said😂. Never thought about this simple statement. I believe everything is a lie or perversion of the truth. From authority. So they know but won't tell. I had a buddy that went into the Marines at 18 at 5'4 and weighed like 130lbs. Seen him a year later on leave and he's 5'9 maybe 5'10 and probably weighed 150lb. Was built and ripped like Bruce Lee. We called him Bruce for years after that. He says that he and other little dudes were giving unknown suplaments pills and a extra meal a day for all of basic training. He says that's how he grew so much. He went on 2 times to try out for navy seals. But didn't make it either time. But to be picked to try out is a thing of pride. It makes you the 1 percent.
Because the same does not apply to everyone im a skinny guy with high metabolism if i started on keto diet id be a toothpick it just wouldnt work for me
I remember this guy shouting my ears out in the middle of a grocery store while having his sunburnt chest out hahaha, needless to say that I like him much better this way
LoL, was that when he was a keto guy.
I remember him selling me some fentanyl behind wallmart
@@yipperdeyipi remember buying some fentanyl from him

Keto is good to wake people up to just how much they're binging on carbs and are addicted to sugar. Most people these days don't even know what actual hunger feels like and misinterpret sugar cravings for hunger. It's good for changing people's mindset and establishing a baseline 'healthy' lifestyle to which you can eventually just reasonably add carbs in moderation back onto and eat an actual healthy and balanced diet from. Keeping in mind the majority of people are trying to lose weight, not gain it. Long term Keto is dumb as hell. Ketopeople are also insufferable and that's coming from someone who lost 100lbs doing it.
Very well said bother ❤ i see people do carnivore for years lose hundreds of pounds and they supplement with electrolytes and im like are they afraid to eat fruit cause they feel they will binge on sugar ice cream. I know people who have done just that. I think food addiction doesn’t get the attention it needs. Proud of you for losing that weight and having the mindset that you have !!!
So is a fast from time to time. It teaches the difference between hunger and cravings.
100%. I lost 50kg eating Keto (well, basically, I ate a sort of low fat keto). I found it way harder to overeat, and almost impossible to snack while out. perfect for a complete reset. Although everyone told me i'd bounce back and put all the weight back on, i've kept 95% of it off and now exercise more, and eat better from a wide variety of foods.
I did the carbs mostly from fruit thing, still got increased joint pain, reflux, anxiety, brain fog etc after a while. I know not everyone’s the same, but it does seem to be the case that some people do best with little to none. They don’t deserve to be written off as obnoxious or dumb. Now obviously if they say dumb stuff or promote it as the only way for everyone, that’s different.
It’s not even just sugar pretty sure burgers and fries don’t have any sugar or pizza. Keto is good for people that don’t want to count calories and really have trouble with cravings
Keto is the reason I dropped 10 pants sizes and a shirt size. It's the reason I can bend down and touch my toes. It's the reason I have hair on my chest, arms, and legs. It's the reason I'm not about to pass out at 6pm. It's the reason I don't have as massive mood swings. It's the reason I'm not as constipated through the day. Is it for everyone? No. But bodybuilding isn't for everyone either. People just need to eat less sugar and starchy carbs, though.
U were obese...we are not...don't make stupid statements
Lmao eating less calories is the reason why
@@ryand589 True true true...but these morons won't agree
@@ryand589 and losing water weight from the lack of carbs. Keto is not sustainable, so that will come back instantly once he starts eating carbs again.
So many people think water weight = fat it's kinda funny.
Most people end up unhealthy on keto due to chronic dehyration from lack of carbs which hold water and electrolyte imbalances. And no, drinking more water doesn't help.
Could have achieved all of that with a healthy balanced diet.
I loved my mental state on keto but god damn was it bad for the gains.
Same, mental state was perftect, i think it's because your body has to produce a lot of noradrenaline to break down triglycerides.
Interesting. Were you eating healthy before keto? Im assuming you weren’t?
@@Bigmommashouse317 no it wasn't but after finishing my keto diet, I started to reconsider my diet for the better.
There I am on Ligandrol and I eat like shit, I think the first thing I'm going to do at the end of the cycle is a little keto diet to be shredded, I'm going to see what that gives but I'm optimistic.
When you say keto do you mean high fat-moderate protein-low carb OR simply High fat&protein & low carb?
Interesting cause before keto i was exercising 3,5 year and my gains was slow but after adopting carnivore i grow up way faster
I’m pre diabetic and not even fat, I’ve been consistently lifting weights for 16 years since high school. We’re just more sensitive to sugar and carbs in my family, doing keto has helped me keep that in check.
Derek, it's so good to have you back!!! Thanks for the content!
I would be dead or having had a kidney replacement right now as a type 2 diabetic if I did not start a keto diet - I’ve been on keto / carnivore for almost a decade and my health and bloodwork has never been better. I also have a history of ALS in my family. This guy swings from one extreme to another without providing alot of evidence to back it. It’s very easy for someone who has a healthy body to say there’s no issue eating carbs . . . I can handle them now that my body has healed but I simply feel better and am healthier in every way when I stick to this lifestyle. That does NOT mean the same is true for everyone - but to almost blanket say most should avoid it is misguided.
did he ever say keto has no uses? As he said, keto isnt ideal for most healthy people
He wasn't on IV or in the hospital, but he was getting potassium and yeast supplements and "non caloric" liquids (coffee and tea without additions).
I’ve had digestive issues since I was a child (I’m 28). My mother has Crohns so I’ve always assumed it was connected to that.
I was introduced to keto when my girlfriend tried it to lose some weight. She had a terrible experience- diarrhea, heart palpitations etc. I’ve been on and off keto for 6 years and I’ve had an AMAZING experience. Normal bowel movements, good energy, good sleep, etc. My cholesterol is a bit high but that’s the only negative I’ve experienced. Everyone is different. No diet is perfect for everyone.
When is the full interview?
I tried keto, couple times for wieght loss, and i was mostly feeling amazing.
if you do it right it can do wonders I feel like
losing a lot of water weight must feel great
i did a keto cut, i felt amazing, strong, my endurance was at my best when i showed up to bjj/kickboxing but once i broke keto i binged super hard and gained 10lbs in a month, i dont think its sustainable i was doing the dishes one time and the dish soap started to smell like candy which was crazy to me
How was the Sparring aspect? I mean the endurance and the Focus to evade or Dodge shots?
Was the sugary food even tastier after keto?
@@bras7855 yup, they gave me 4 donuts instead of one cause i ordered a meal near closing time and them shits were gone in about two minutes
@@xspawnx83 felt strong, fast, switched on, i genuinely function better without carbs they make me lethargic, however i wasnt really getting a pump
@@bras7855 no, i uncontrollably binged though youd probably of had to put me in a psych ward to stop me eating
Since you can’t snap instantly in an out of keto it’s hard to realise some changes. After keto flu when you stabilise and feel really consistent with good mental clarity and energy you feel great. But you also feel flat. I thought I felt incredible but when I ate carbs again damn I felt much more energy when exercising and much more ‘good feeling’ than just the flat keto state
I just can’t take any advice from a guy that lived and died on the side of keto/carnivore and now it’s harmful long term?? Maybe for him but whole foods keto for the severely overweight and food addicted population, is the best solution and/or cure for these issues. Personally it cured my sugar addiction and for many others. Do what works for yourself. Period
I mean, I think everybody eventually realizes this. Like if you've been carnivore or keto, you eventually change your mind. Everyone does. Unless you plan never to eat anything that's not keto ever again. Because it's really not sustainable. I did. Keto got healthy. Lost a lot of weight. But I like carbohydrates. I like bread and stuff like that and as soon as you start eating that stuff again of course you'll gain weight. But you have to eat healthy to balance it out. If you just eat cookies and ice cream these high fat high sugar foods they send signals to your brain that your never full even though you ate like three times as many calories as you should have.
Amen. Three months a year.
It can definitely wreck your thyroid. You're relying on stress hormones to run the conversion of fat and protein into blood glucose.
@@williammclean6594 You’re right. If you go back to eating a high carb diet you gain it all back but I look at it like an alcoholic can’t just have one drink and I can’t eat one Kit Kat. It’s not even just the weight. I was able to come off my depression meds. It gave me energy like I had never felt before. If being in constant ketosis doesn’t make you feel good then up your healthy carbs for awhile but yea, it’s a life long commitment
Eating fruit whenever you have sugar cravings cures sugar addiction.

Yo I'm gonna be real, the only time I've ever been able to eat a calorie deficit and cut below 15%bf was keto, otherwise I just feel like I'm fucking starving all day every day. Keto has its place, especially if it's just a loose guide and u are comfortable throwing in 1 meal a day thst has some carbs
Man this is so interesting. Because zero carb carnivores look great in the beginning but then after several years, they kindof look like dried raisins a little bit.
I did keto for about 4 months when I was 310 pounds. It is very effective for drastic weight loss for extremely obese individuals. After I lost the fat keto provided too little energy to run or build muscle consistently so I went to a more balanced diet. I say it does have a purpose, at the very least a mental strategy to prevent people from overly snacking at other people’s house when they want to lose weight and they have a long way to go.
Please do a video on the G Fuel protein+energy soon🙏
Keto for epilepsy or bipolar is vital. For any other reason it has to be very carefully considered, due to the health risks.
How long before he swings back the other way?
He will be vegan next month and sell veggie pills instead of liver king pills
A healthy diet is basically this - eat mostly minimally processed food and everything in moderation unless you have allergies. That’s it…the minimalist diets worked for some people because it allowed them to eliminate their allergies…..
This is why you don't listen to zealots.
Paul has explained before that the ketogenic diet tanked his testosterone levels and he had heart palpitations (his "Why I QUIT keto" video). For men, any diet that caused a drop in testosterone levels should be considered a red flag. Heart palpitations an even bigger warning signs. Even if everything else is good.
But having said that, that was his experience and reaction to a ketogenic diet. If you are in a ketogenic diet and your testosterone is still good or even better, no heart related problems, just continue doing what you do.
But always do blood work every year, but if you on gear you should do that every 6 months anyway.
I’m not a low carb fan, but Paul said his insulin sensitivity lowered on higher carb. So if your insulin is lower on high carb, how does that make your electrolyte balance better?
He doesn't know. He just uses buzzwords my Dr oz and liver king
I started keto as a way to bring down chronic inflammation which it's worked well for. My workouts on this diet have improved because my joint pain and chronic tendonitis has largely disappeared. Not only that, I'm not constantly hungry the way I used to be. Keto has worked quite well for me.
I trust Paul’s opinion as much as I trust Dr. Oz - not worth even considering his opinion
Liver king 2.0
Yupppp 😂😂😂 I was thinking the same thing
4 days in a row upload is crazy
Problem is people go only 1 way at 100% taking the best of each diet is the best way
Vertical diet gang
My bare minimum rule of thumb personally is my first 1-2 meals are always vegetables, meat, eggs, beans, fruit, etc. (luckily I actually really like vegetables unironically) then for my last 2 meals I have more bread and foods with worse macros.
The worst thing you can do is start the day with mostly carbs and no protein or fat because insulin resistance is lowest in the morning so it’s kind of a waste imo if you make your first meal have a lot of carbs. I always start with 3-4 eggs first thing.
The problem is most peoole don't know which ingredients to avoid
I argue we're almost dumpster fires. We can burn all sorts of stuff. And I don't think most American's move enough to tell the difference in performance.
How many carbs are in methamphetamine?
I would love to have MPMD, Dr Anthony Chaffee and Dr Shawn Baker have a talk. Most people that do keto aren't really doing keto, they're eating crap labeled as keto.
I hear this guy mention raw milk every time he talks about his diet now. I understand the fear of over processing from pasteurization, but isn’t there also a risk of infection from bacteria in the milk? I have a pretty low intake of milk myself so I’ve never been concerned about pasteurization.
nope, healthy cow, healthy milk
Interesting, because my mental clarity, energy levels, sleep, and libido drastically improve in ketosis..
It's how i can tell im in it without a glucometer.
I dont think it's for everyone, though.
I wouldn't be in it all the time either.
Even when i do it, I come out of it a day or two per week and usually stay out of it in the summer completely.
This dude generalises his own experience about it too much.
I've done keto for a few month stretch and it felt great. I didn't notice any electrolyte issues, and I felt way more serene at baseline. Maybe Dr. Saladino is doing so much exercise that he needs carbs to sustain it, but I don't think it's reasonable to extrapolate that to people with more modest levels of physical activity.
You see the trick to a keto diet is intermittent fasting where you can eat all your carbs in one meal for proper nutrient absorption and then go the whole day without eating
Thats not A keto diet tho
@@jones172yes it is. That’s how me and some ultra-runners trained. (I was more paleo than keto). It’s great for fat adaption while running long distances to get your body used to relying on fat as energy rather than carbohydrates. I personally wouldn’t recommend the diet to anyone who’s not doing incredibly long distance sports. For general weight loss, the simple calories in calories out is far more practical.
@@JustAnotherArtist123 how do you say yes it is than say it was paleo lol

When I'm in keto for a couple weeks, my chronically bloody gums that I've had since I was a kid go completely away. When I go back to eating carbs for a couple weeks, they come back. And I know in the carnivore community this is a fairly common occurrence.
Makes me pretty skeptical of Paul's take on this.

I’ve been dealing with some severe muscle spasms over the last two years on and off that are excruciating and only resolved when I consume a shit ton of pink salt, Morton lite salt which has added potassium and magnesium and water and literally try to hold myself in place from the spasms until they finally stop. I just got on a keto.diet. a sloppy one. And in 12 days I'm done 13 pounds. The last couple days I've only lost 1lb. So it's normalized. And I'll hope to lose 2 lbs a week now. Started at 243.5 Now 230.5 at 220lb I'm going to take a week off. Maybe 2 then get back on it down to 200, then take 2 to 4 weeks off and then go for 180. Then I'll.try to.settle on 170lbs and try to add 10 lbs of muscle back over 2 years.
If a client/patient has type 2 diabetes and is looking to reverse it through nutrition, would a keto diet make sense?
I personally did exactly this - A1C of over 12 to an A1C between 4.5 and 5.5 for over the last decade - dropped 80 pounds and fixed all sorts of issues. That’s not going to happen except perhaps through serious fasting and rolling back to whole foods on a traditional diet.

How did he fuck up a keto diet? It’s not that hard…
i eat lots of lentils, chickpeas, but despite this i am in sort of a ketosis, because i dont eat much and only OMAD, so i dont give myself a chance to be overweight.
I wonder about brandon carter thoughts on this
I disagree completely with paul, firstly with regards to the supposed insulin spike needed at the level of the kidneys you do not need to take in carbs exogenously, why because of gluconeogenesis so then as long as you get enough protein in a meal you will get a sufficient insulin spike. So prefereably one or 2 meals a day so its easier to get the enough protein in. This way of eating is how most tribal/ancestral people eat. Another point would be that if doing a carnivore diet properly you will have sufficient dietary taurine which is important as taurine is vital for electrolyte homeostasis.
Lastly when paul was doing a carnivore diet he was not doing it ancestrally as he was eating way too much organ meat specifically liver which is very high in copper and vitamin A, now im not convinced that the retinol content from the liver was causing him hypervitaminosis however with regards to copper toxicity it is very possible that was what caused him his problems while on the diet. Of course only a hypothesis but thinking logically the amount of muscle meat he ate compared to organ meat was very out of proportion for example how much muscle meat is there on a cow compared to how much liver. So if you do want to have organ meats only have it proportionally to the amount of muscle meat you eat. Furthermore with regards to ancestral people who have not or were not influenced by the modern western diet such as the inuits (people paul used to appeal to when he was carnivore) they avoided eating organ meats altogether.
@coomerkiller read what I said as a whole, Paul appealed to those people I mentioned and the Pacific Islanders are better genetically adapted to eating fruits. Fruits should only be eaten seasonally according to each persons ancestry however Paul has gone against this. An Englishman should only eat fruits that grow naturally in England when it’s the right season. Fruit has always historically been used to fatten people up during the summer so that they can get through the winter easier.
Hey guys, Derek came back from the store, and he brought the milk!

if you do it right it can do wonders I feel like
Keto helps me control my appetite in a deficit & I feel a bit better. It’s no better or worse for weight loss calorie-wise, just the lack of insulin related hunger/energy issues helps. People hearing you’re doing a ketogenic diet and immediately sh!tting all over it are infinitely more toxic & annoying than people that tell you they’re doing keto imo. I’d never do keto in a calorie surplus, it just helps me in a deficit sometimes. Nothing wrong with that.
The thing many people miss is that there is another option besides keto vs a substantial amount of carbohydrate, and that option is a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. Protein is insulinogenic, and as such is capable of promoting the signal of fed-state/abundance. I will concede that it's probably not as strong of a signal as carbohydrate, but there are plenty of reasons why limiting carbs can be worth it for some individuals. People look at protein needs only through the lens of what supports muscle mass, but protein has many more roles in the body, one of which is as a substrate for glucose production. There are multiple glucogenic hormones in the body, such as glucagon, epinephrine, GP73, and cortisol, yet there is only 1 hormone that lowers it: insulin. It just seems like the body is much more used to having to raise glucose in the context of limited dietary carbohydrates rather than having to lower glucose from copious amounts of carbs, evolutionarily speaking. Substantial amounts of carbohydrates don't work well for everyone. For instance, I've suffered multiple concussions. Eating lots of carbs, even if just from fruit, honey, and squash as Saladino suggests, seems to lead to more frequent episodes of brain fog for me, and my memory just doesn't work quite as well. Aside from that, I also get more joint pain, and my skin looks worse. So far, I have not had any cramping in the absence of those carbs, probably because I eat a plenty of protein instead of forcing myself to limit it based on some fantasy of max ketones being the cure-all, as it seems Paul once thought. It really drives me nuts that there seems to be no middle ground with Paul. For the record, I'm not AT ALL against people eating carbs if they do well on them.
Great reply.
its much better to just eat your daily protein requirement and the rest of your calories be fat and carbs
Keto always made me feel like 💩. Could never stick with it and prefer a low fat moderate protein and moderate to high carb diet. Since I’ve cut back the fat macros and increased the protein and carb intake I’ve been finally able to get rid of my spare tire around my midsection and have better sleep and workout performance as well. I’m the biggest and leanest I’ve been in a while too, and while my training has been more consistent, I feel this diet change has netted the most significant changes I’ve experienced
I love these diet talks. Everyone is an expert with a new fad or trend. Diet is easy, cals in cals out. Those calories should be strategic to your energy usage per day. Carbs fats and sugars are all good stuff if your body gets enough exercise to use it properly. If you’re not active, then carbs and sugars should be the least amount of what you eat. Protein no matter the goal or narrative is the largest portion you should be consuming. Too much science and not enough back to basics IMO. Everyone over complicates the fitness industry.
Keto is great for people with diabetes or pre diabetic
Insulin resistance
We may be based on evolution, when people in north hemisphere further from equator will have long winters with meat based diet and then summer with a bit of carbs from berries and wild fruit. People with African ancestry may be different because of better and more starchy fruit availability during the year.
Just eat enough protein to trigger insulin spike. Not that complicated
Cyclic keto is pretty amazing for many types of auto immunity. This isn’t looked at enough, unfortunately.

It’s great for people with Familial Hypercholesterolemia. This guy won’t tell you that because he loves putting out his contrarian view on how LDL isn’t bad. Tell that to people with FH who die in their 30s and 40s
Homie actually posting now
?
this is the guy that doesn’t brush his teeth or use soap right? gotcha
RIP Keto. May we never have to hear from you all ever again.
"Cerebral Pauly" Saladino is on he same Idiot Tier" as Doctor Oz and Doctor Phil.
Please review Tate brothers product “FIRE BLOOD” 🙌🏻
Ahh yes. The "doctor", Paul salad
He's an M.D, just like every other doctor. Why the " " around doctor?
He should have stuck to psychiatry...
@@powerbuilding7044 He's a MD of psychiatry. That's like asking a proctologist to do neurosurgery
@@velcrofishsticks6002 thats definitely not an equal comparison lol
@@QuantumRealmM considering the ridiculous things Saladino has said in reference to studies that have no standing on humans, it absolutely is an equal comparison
Man if you aren’t doing the fodmap diet you are fucked up. That is if you have IBS like me. 😂
I did keto several years ago. Starting weight was 300lb, 37 yr old male, 6’2, bad but not terrible blood work, but felt horrible.
Did it for about 7 months, lost 70lbs, felt considerably better, blood work improved dramatically to fully healthy levels across the board.
The diet was monotonous and I was ready to be done with it. Ketosis does significantly lower hunger levels, food becomes fuel as opposed to something more emotional. Energy levels were very consistent, and cognitive function was less impaired so there are numerous upsides to running off ketones for a short time. Don’t see any reason to go back on it apart from aiding in weight loss. I’ve mostly kept the weight off.
With all that said, I don’t have autoimmune issues and know it has been life changing for many people with inflammatory diseases, just my experience.
Imagine taking advice from a person who likes bacteria in their milk
I feel like Light Yagami on keto though 😢
U have to get on keto if you have cancer
you can do keto healthy and unhealthy that’s the key
Doesn’t Paul Salidino not use toothpaste? Derick can you attest ?? 😂
