This is indeed a great find, I was shocked at the low price. A lot of homes of this style in poor condition are priced much higher. You could literally move right in, it is in excellent condition. Loved the tour and the home, the neighborhood is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
That's the first thing l noticed inside was HOW BRIGHT & WHITE it is in place of all the usual beautiful woodwork that' makes the interior 'darker' but not in a gloomy sense. The wood is rich & warm
I bought a 1917 home that has the natural wood exposed on most of the doors and window frames. The bank who owned it before I bought it sent in contractors to give it a face-lift. They painted some of the interior woodwork, then stopped. My original intention was to paint the woodwork, but then I kept reading comments about NOT painting it. So, I put it on pause and I have struggled for 5 years on whether to finish painting them or not. The wood is in horrible condition with holes and splinters. Sometimes, it's best to just fill in the gaps and paint it because it wasn't properly cared for. Wood filler is obvious when it's restrained and looks ghastly. Some houses just present too dark with everything in natural wood, especially against wood floors. White woodwork looks so much more elegant to me, personally. But I could never paint over those beautiful tiger oak fireplaces. That's what kills me. My frames are not tiger oak... now that would be tough to paint.
It might be easier when you know that it’s been done so so long ago. But I am watching people remodel homes that have woodwork that is not that old and the first thing they do is get out the paint. I just hate it. I don’t think word is meant to be painted. Even the videos you watch on UA-cam, where people are refinishing old, antique items and then even quite often. They are getting out their paint brushes. I think that is quite disturbing.
@Joanie S It is your home. If the trim is ruined, there is only so much you can do. Certain era and style painted trim from the get go. Why pretend? Do what you want. Be fearless!
I'm not sure why I am addicted to punishing myself watching these videos of gorgeous houses that I will never see never let alone own, but it is my guilty pleasure - love love love this home - especially the bathrooms!
Sorry Laine, this is not your house, it's MINE! So beautiful and the rooms are perfect for showing off period furniture and pictures. You're right about the FP surrounds, it's doable. Lovely neighborhood. Looks move-in ready. Would be so much fun to live there. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, energy and love of these wonderful homes.

Beautiful house and I love the white woodwork! I wouldn’t change a thing. I find that dark woodwork is depressing. It makes the room dark and closed in. I do a adore the original dark woodwork in older homes but for me it would not work. I’m sure there are others who have the same problem I do. This home is so bright and light and inviting and uplifting. I love it.
This is a dream house. Each time I see your videos I ask my husband, who’s a pastor, if he hasn’t got a calling to America. While he’s waiting to hear please keep up the videos. These properties are stunning - it even has a pool. In our U K climate it’s not realistic 😢
What a Treasure!! I Love the Victorian and Vintage Era. I Wouldn't Change a Thing. This House is Perfect!! The Woodwork and Those Beautiful Glass Windows are to Die For. Love That Large Pocket Door and All the Nooks and Crannies that Make Up This Home. If I Was Alot Younger, I Would Make a FULL OFFER on This Property. I hope whome ever buys this House will Appreciate all the Victorian Architecture and Not Change a Single Thing.
Laine, what a gem. Love your sweet smile and great personality. Can’t purchase this lovely property but I’m sorely tempted by your great “marketing” ability. Watching from PA.
So glad y'all are giving so much attention to the Clifton Heights neighborhood- it's beautuful and unique in all America- also historically was one of Natchez Jewish neighborhoods of the later era- many of whom started the local preservation movement during The Depression- the fact that the whole are is perched on a cliff overlooking the sweep of the river is langiappe!
That is a very beautiful house. I love that people are maintaining these older homes and keeping them looking gorgeous as the day they were built. Someone put a lot of time, effort, money, and love into this one. I love everything about it except for the price tag. That's a bit too steep for my wallet. But whoever gets it will have a really nice piece of real estate and a beautiful home.
Beautiful. I had a huge victorian farm house in Illinois. We moved to New Orleans, houses like these are a fortune in New Orleans. Not so in Illinois. I never painted any of my woodwork up there .
I love this house, love the large entryway. I do not think there is anything I didn't like about it. The 1st floor maid quarter would also make a wonderful sewing room for my quilts.
Hey! Could ya'll do some 'Top 10s'!? Top 10 favorite products...cities...tools... memories...etc, etc. You could even do your dogs! 😆 Just a thought. I'd be super curious!
@@messinalyle4030 that’s awesome. I always get this extreme inner warmth, once completing one, I think it’s mostly because I know how beautiful it is in my mind.
@@robertturosik416 I know exactly what you mean. Mind you, I'm not a professional architect or anything like that, and have had no formal training of any kind. How about you?
Thank you for the tour. For this home being so pretty, the fireplace surrounds are nothing compared to that house that was selling for $79,000. That home had beautiful surrounds.
I love everything about this place. The fact that the basement and attic is already finished and usable is huge. The only thing I would want to change is a tall fence around the whole place for privacy. Under five hundred thousand dollars. If this place was in Washington state it would be more like a million. So beautiful.
This is a lovely and charming home with an air of elegance. Strip the woodwork back to original and add some beautiful light fixtures and enjoy. I personally like the kitchen and baths. Enjoyed.
I have been searching for a home and this is stunning! That marble bath vanity is stunning! I would not do a thing to it other that make sure to preserve it. Such a lovely home! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, energy!❤ This artist would feel right at home here. So many lovely rooms to call a studio!
Another lovely treat. You look fantastic in hot pink! For some reason, maybe the way the details are done and the Neo-classical feel to the rooms, I don't mind the white paint on the main staircase with this one. The outdoor ironwork is beautiful! I've learned more about Jewish neighborhoods in southern cities from ancestry shows, and I appreciate you including the extra history about the neighborhood. Here the original 1889 Temple Beth Israel building was moved to Heritage Park and restored. Currently a wedding/event venue.
THANK YOU for pointing out the value of "vintage" appliances in the beautifully built out kitchen. The cabinets are high quality. It makes me sick when I see high end cabinets ripped out for off the shelf Big Box Store cheapest line of cabinets. Of course, the owner has the option unless historic designation limits changes. Hopefully a new CareTaker will take their responsibility seriously? Yes, find appropriate tile for the fireplace surrounds! TY again.
Wonderful house. Probably built in the teens. The iron work could have been added when they rebuilt the porch floor in brick. The marble sink in master suite was missing its soap and toothbrush holders. I can just imagine how this house looked the 60s with tons of modern furniture to reflect those modern bathrooms. They certainly were not afraid to mix styles here.
I’d keep the damask stencil and continue it upstairs. The fancy French mirror downstairs can go; that house is an awesome example of that 1909-1910 transitional style and May have been a lot simpler inside. Love it! Thank you dir showing us this house!
What a stunner! Those tiger oak fireplaces are to live for! The price has come down $30k since this video. Honestly, they should put your video in their listing! While I'm glad they photographed the rooms staged, or before the estate sale... their images are dark because the pics were taken with no lights on. Your video shows the home much better. 😉
such gorgeous cabinets! I hope they keep them. I personally hate when you have solid wood cabinets (not so common these days) and people paint over them! :(
Dang it! Funny you said it’s not a tower! At the begging I said-that’s a tower not a turret -from one of your previous lessons. Now you throw a “bay” into the mix! 🤣😂🤣😂
At 14:28 you see the small wall heater it looks like there is smoke soot on the wall above the heater or it could be the shadows i would remove that heater i don't think they're that efficient love your videos as usual

I CANNOT TAKE IT when they paint over the original woodwork. 😭 I adore adore adore this house. Seriously dying.
Painting over oak or any wood should be illegal. 😅
