8:15 The cool thing about the placement of these flowers is that the player is likely to hit them with Cappy while trying to defeat the Goombas. The player will probably only hit some of them, showing that there is more intractability and secrets hidden in the environment than the player may initially think. This is further solidified with the Bowser posters in the back
Absolutely deserved. When I left the Cap kingdom for the first time and entered the Cascade kingdom, I was in pure awe before the level's aesthetic, music, design and overall vibe. I felt like a kid again with the stupidest smile on my face. Everything about the Cascade kingdom SLAPS.
The 3D mario games as a whole all have incredible first levels but Mario odyssey goes above and beyond with unique vistas like Cap kingdom or putting a unique spin on a usually generic theme with a bombastic orchestral score that is now a Mario classic. And both of these levels teaches you all the mechanics of the game flawlessly, while still being fun for veterans
100% completion of this game is one heck of an experience! I finished the game without 100% and it was good but missing something. But I redid the game with 100%, it was everything I wished for and even more. Finding all of the moons and overdoing the level is something truly awesome.
I actually got Taxi Flying in Bonneton by accident when I used the binoculars to zoom in on the moon, thinking it would do something (when you do that, the moon just about takes up your entire FOV)

He’s also a much better gamer than me so I also just want him to play through & do the post-game moons & help me get some of my stragglers haha.

I'm someone who's firmly on the camp of the galaxy games being better, but I find a speedrunner's opinion on Odyssey harder to contradict, as speedrunning is pretty much the only thing that works really well in this game thanks to the great movement. Anyways, it's the first time I see a video from you, it was interesting and also really funny at times:''What, you think I actually do research?''. I've been thinking about making a long post to praise Hollow Knight's opening for a while now, and this gives me further motivation to actually do it.
Let's go, more Level by Level videos! I've asked this multiple times but I was hoping you could analyze the Super Mario Mash Up Pack on Minecraft, maybe basing it on the "levels" with the parkour castles, Bowser airship, Boo Mansion and stuff like that, and maybe the giant characters and overall aesthetic. Great video Odyssey!
I actually like The Forgotten Treasure, it makes the Cap Kingdom feel more lived in by showing Cappy trying to remember where he hid a Power Moon all those years back, exploring Bonneton while Cappy talks about where he thinks he put the moon. I feel like just letting the player go and ground pound the moon immediately would remove part of what makes the mission special, as you'd be skipping over the Power Moon's backstory and it'd just be a matter of ground pounding a random spot. Still not as good as the flawless masterpiece that is Next to Glasses Bridge obviously
Yes the 2 first levels are brilliantly designed, they gave us the more linear and articulate first 2 levels before giving us the most perfect mix of both in almost every other level. (Why on earth did bowsers kingdom have to be so sectioned off?) Mario odyssey is so good at this which is only one of the reasons it makes me so happy and is without doubt my favorite mario game and my second favorite game ever made. (Smash ultimate is first for me) id say mario odysseys only flaw is its lack of length in the main story. I also love how the game makes you not use cappy in certain sections. It makes me realize how much i rely on it.
I put it up there in my top 10 games along with Super Mario World, Gravity Falls and its sequel, Assassin's Creed Origins, Kingdom Hearts 2, and the Sly Cooper series.
I’ve had a special place in my heart for Mario 64, galaxy 1 and 2 and 3D world. But none of those beat Mario odyssey for me. At least, not in replay ability. Mario 64 has janky psychics, Mario 3D world has shorter levels, the stars in galaxy are done in such a way that makes Mario galaxy feel to linear, and feel free to hate me, but I never really liked sunshine. And I never got a chance to play 3D land Mario odyssey needs a sequel! Even if my joy con drift is so bad I literally can’t use my joystick anymore, I’d pay extra for it
19:56, I did that on my second play through of the game and whenever I replay it I never fight Madame Broodal just because she is the only boss that you can 100% the game without fighting. (You automatically get the multi moon upon returning to Cascade Kingdom)
For years I’ve had a lukewarm reception of Mario Odyssey because when I first beat it I only really played through the game trying to beat it, but a few days ago I played the game for the first time in so long I had to download an update that came out 5 years ago and restarted my save with the intention of actually going through and experiencing the game checking every small corner of most kingdoms even getting all purple coins from just looking around the kingdoms and I beat the game with just under 300 moons and I still can’t put the game down, this game is a masterpiece and I wish I realised it sooner

Makes sense that you'd have already started ranking the moons in Mario Odyssey. If you waited until you hit 100K to start, we wouldn't be getting that video for a long time.
Sand felt like the whole game to me. Cap and Cascade definitely did a good job of helping me understand how the game might go, but Sand Kingdom being the largest and longest kingdom made me forget that there would be more kingdoms after it. I went from being like, "okay I think I know how to play the game" to, "this better be the rest of the game" I just can't put into words how good a level Sand Kingdom was I freaking LOVED IT!
This isn’t really a complaint because I enjoyed this video a lot, but I definitely feel like you aren’t nearly as harsh on odysseys short comings as compared to galaxy or any other game really just because you love odyssey. Again since this is an odyssey based channel thats fine and I definitely still enjoy this channels odyssey content.
I LOVE this game but theres only one thing that bothers me more than anything in the game and that is the fact That when you throw Cappy onto a capturable enemy/character it isnt the hat your wearing its only the basic mario hat and it annoys me

While I agree to an extent with some people's criticism that there are too many moons, at the same time it is so satisfying finding them by accident by interacting with the envirment in ways you aren't expecting to give you a reward or exploring sub areas for their second moons. The koopa races in particular were alot of fun because by watching the Koopas I learned about hat moves I didn't realize I could do that are basically speed run strats.
@@Odyssey_Central I decided to play it because people would not stop saying how good the game was. I'm not saying that Smb3 is bad or something like that, but Kirby's adventure hits different.
I agree with everything in S except that stupid ramp track in MK8. It's a good reference but the other half of the track is... the track. I personally dont like baby park but it's fun sometimes. Landing item hits on excitebike is impossible due to the physics. The player character goes much higher of ramps than a green shell making green shells basically useless. It feels like getting a coin when I get one. Red shells and bullet Bill's get a massive advantage because of this and that just makes the tracks in fun. Also, two straights and a bunch of ramps, seriously? In a game like Mario kart 8 which I consider to ride on momentum (cuz I play 200cc unlike little timmy who loves jumping off his baby ramps.) Shroom Ridge for example,e works as a track because every item has value (except the coins for obvious reasons), it's fairly balanced where u can frontrun but also u can catch up if someone is frontrunning. Mushroom are extremely well utilized on shroom rodge as, due to mushrooms being the majority of items u get cuz of mk8 item balance, they need to be useful and shroom ridge has lots of mushroom shortcuts. The ending one on 200 being rlly well due to its risk leading too some hype races. Excitebike however makes them fell useless and also stars as well due to the lack of any shortcuts. I guess u could on the sides but THEN WHATS THE POINT OF THE GOD DAMN RAMP GIMMICK!!! Someone said something on a discord server which I think accurately describes what I mean, "Hyrule circuit uses its gimmick to enhance the track and add a new layer to it instead of being a marketing gimmick." The opposite is for excitebike as its main feature sounds interesting but is really only something that they use to make the track seem cool but if u look much more closely, u can CLEARLY SEE THAT ITS JUSTA BUNCH OF RAMPS!! Dragon driftway has many unique shortcuts, interesting shortcuts and away better flowing jump boosts and MANY PEOPLE CONSIDER THAT TO BE WORSE!!! Oh yeh, that's another thing, it doesn't even feel nice to go of the ramps. These ramps just ignore all of 8's physics engine. Most ramps make the game feel 'heavy' but these send u way up in the air, meaning that, like I said earlier, it's best to use a mushroom to avoid the ramps but it makes the gimmick pointless. So if a courses main gimmick isnt fun, THEN WHY IS IT A FAN FAVOURITE!!! I have had to play this track 5 times in a row once when playing online. 200 makes it bearable but I had to play these on 150 and 100. 3 minutes of mindless waggling the controller and getting useless green shells. I just thought I should say this as you are one of the best youtubers when it comes to saying ur point about something but this is something that I feel is never spoken about by anything and ur point for defending the track was like the one time I didnt get persuaded by u. Everything u said about galaxy, its slower pace compared to odyssey, even if galaxy is my favourite 3d Mario, I completely understand ur view on but saying that a track is good cuz it is a good "reference" doesn't cut it for me. I am sorry if this sounded rlly negative, I know I sound like some annoying moaning commenter right now but I just wanted to say my thoughts on excitebike and what u said one video where u would actually read my comment. To end it off on a happy note, u did an amazing job with this video. Ur comedy is funny as always and ur points were explained very clearly and I understand what u mean by most of it, even if i have to disagree with caps placement on the tier list being so high. I swear if u read this entire thing then I will go insane XD

I swear if u read this entire thing then I will go insane XD
you could’ve shortened this entire comment into one or two paragraphs
@@alabamii there is a reason why there is a read more button. Also, it looked like the size of two paragraphs when I was writing the comment. I do see what u mean tho 😅
I know right non skip able cutscenes are so annoying kirby and the forgotten land did it perfectly
So did Odyssey.
And most Sonic games and older LEGO games.
This game would've been PERFECT if Luigi was playable :(
He has his own game on the Switch Luigi’s Mansion 3. That’s explains why Mario isn’t playable in Luigi’s game.
@@traviscunningham7062 cuz Mario's a noob, he got trapped in the painting in both games how stupid you gotta be to make the same mistake twice that's why he's not playable, but Luigi in odyssey is perfectly fine so why he's not playable????
@@deadicatedtryhard2170 I told you this twice. He has his own Switch game: Luigi’s Mansion 3 so that explains why he isn’t playable in Odyssey.
@@traviscunningham7062 if he can still jump, run, and save the princess then he must be playable, also Mario had a lot of titles where Luigi wasn't playable
@@deadicatedtryhard2170 Luigis games don't have Mario playable.
Video 1878 of commenting #BringBackDislikes on every unique video I watch in 2022 (this does not mean I dislike this video).
I can’t believe you insulted my beloved Super Mario Galaxy. I am ashamed that anyone would do such a thing.
Galaxy 2 is much better though.
He talking bout tutorials without mentioning the signs
Did the coins do anything in levels if coin rush with Luigi and the balloons gives you 600 every time?
