Bit of a shame to see such a drivers car just sit. Doing 600km in 6 years, it'll start to have serious issues soon - cars need to be driven more than that or the seals will start perishing, electronics will start developing dry solder joints etc. I understand it's an investment though, and it was great that the owner let Ross drive it.
@@Beer_Dad1975 I have the XR8 Sprint auto and used as a daily driver in my business with 139,000km on it. Now parked up. Some say I'm crazy putting that many k's on it, but the absolute pleasure of driving the car with the occasional foot down to hear it roar is worth it.
0-100 in 4.7s in my XR8 Sprint. Only possible after changing stock tyres (which are rubbish) to PS4 S's, which actually grip. Night and day difference that transformed the car from good to great. An insanely cool review Ross. Very well done on both cars man, I'm with you, desperate to see what a launch in that XR8 would've been like, but total respect for the fact it has such low ks on it too. P.S. Not sure if you know, but as a kind of half-aftermarket/half-factory final flourish for the Aussie Falcon, there were some cars built out of standard XR8 Sprints, called the Premcar Holy Grail. If you can somehow find one of these to do a review on, I would highly recommend it 😃 Premcar was effectively born out of what was Prodrive Engineering after Ford themselves bought FPV fully in-house in late 2012. So in reality, it was a factory standard conversion done to OEM spec. Apparently they have a slightly firmer suspension tune than an XR8 Sprint too, so they should handle slightly better too. Only 100 were ever made, so it may be tricky to find one. But I would totally expect you'll have the time of your life Ross, just as you did reviewing these cars.

In the Automatic version of XR8 Sprint and XR6 Sprint there was one Issue. 4.0 Barra Engine performs well with 6 Speed ZF Auto Transmission ( I can't write Tranny as UA-cam may get offended ). Wow mate what a privilege you had driving these fords especially the xr8 sprint with so low ks. I am actually surprised that the owner let you drive it and give it a bit of a boot. But yes it will back in the shed after this good run and parked up i think. It should be driven not hidden but i could only just imagine the value of this thing in the future 👍
I'd love to own either, unfortunately they're still balls expensive 😪😪 FG's by themselves are still mad overpriced atm, 2010 XR6T's going for over 40k, but even a stock FG-X XR8 with over 100,000km on them are all over $50,000 😅😅 even non turbo FG-X 6's are over $30,000!
Such a shame the XR6 is auto only. That obliterates the desirability of the car for me, as a special car is all about the involvement factor. The XR8 sounds awesome and would be a fantastic drive I am sure. Visually though, I have never fallen in love with the FG-X, even in XR guise. Thoroughly enjoyed the review thanks Ross
As a normal auto XR8 owner, I drove a manual XR8 Sprint before. Personally I don't feel much of refinement between the two. But with some Sprint badges, the Sprint holds the values well which Ford Australia pi_ _ me off so badly☹
Its funny. Dont know if it's just but these cars seem like they got no recognition. No one talks about them. I completely forgot they even existed until like a week ago. Seeing one drive around is rare occasion.
XR6 sprint for me.. Imagine if ford thought "geez the barra was so damn good with a turbo strapped to it, let's put a pair of them on the Miami V8!!" They're still a great car, not trying to knock the blown V8s but turbos could've taken it to the next level for sure
Please try the last of last of Holden also. You did the best of the best last Holden do the same for Holden. VF GTSR LSA & VF GTSR W1 LS9 The almighty LS9 you need to try that engine. Yes LSA is amazing amazing engine but the LS9 is on another level. would love to see drive that bro. Also it blew my mind when the W1 ute sold for a million dollars. But even over here the gto and g8 and ss and Caprice are all rising up. New was about 50k USD for a SS. In 2020 I got mine which is a 2017 last year model with 12k miles on it for 40k. Today ppl are selling there older higher mileage SS for 60 to 70k USD. And it's just gonna go up from here. Also the WM & WN over her were import as police cars only. So when they got to us Holden enthusiasts they needed some work. I got the rare 9C3 detective package which is fully loaded like a normal Caprice in Australia. The early years you use to be able to grab for 4 to 5k USD. Now my 2011 WM I can sell for 22k easily. And it's going up from there. Love my Australian cars. Need you to visit one day and review my Australian icons in America
i would love to see your cars one day mate in the land of the free! good to see aussie cars represented over there! if i could find a W1 i would be in it right now! lol very difficult car to get into because a) the price $$$ b) the rarity :( im confident tho one day it will happen!
I still think that FPV should have used Shelby engines instead of done-up regular Ford engines. Just imagine the 5.8l from the GT500 in the 2013-14 GT's it would have been insane. Or even if they did the last Falcon in 2016 with the voodoo engine from the GT350R, supercharged it, and carried over the transmission as well. I know we can play the game of 'ifs ands or maybes' all day long but it really would be insane to have a performance Falcon platform based on Shelby engineering.
Yes the xr6 sprint didn't come until the FG while xr8 sprint was first with the ED then was absent until the FG just like the Falcon Futura was absent after the XB and didnt return until the ED but they then dropped the Falcon Futura at the BF and the Falcon Futura is pretty much an XR6 Sprint Before an XR6 Sprint.
$100,000 k very fair considering it’s manufacture numbers Plus it’s a piece of FORD CLASSIC . IM VERY INTERESTED AS WE ALL KNOW ANOTHER VERY IMPORTANT PART OF FORD AUSTRALIA WAS THE FAIRLANE AND LTD. BOTH CLASSIC 10 times better than the Statesman series.! Now only 153 BF G8 230 kw 320 to 330 hp stock. But I can push the G8 on the very very rare occasion. 6am cold 6 degrees she run a 6.2 sec 100km. However I broke traction with traction on ? But turn it off put it in sports mode. She still performs well for a long wheel base. But sadly people are struggling to get $10,000 for a very rare beauty to drive. Shannon’s insurance they are good. Insured for $30,000 right off payout. So Shannon’s is aware they are rare! My question is, ? Is it worth it. I brought a magnificent example. 1 owner age 70 when he brought her. Sadly he passed away 5 years later. And the G8;with 54,000 kms sitting in a shed with car cover. Lighting Strike SILVER. THE COLOUR IS VERY COOL!. It’s like it has a Pearl in the paint? But I’m certain it does not have Pearl base. I paid $9,000 for her. Evan tho they were ok. I changed all the suspension to everything brand new. Interior 100% FAULTLESS. ID BE HAPPY TO SWAP THIS CAR FOR A VERY NICE BF XR8 290 kw. Worth $15,000 +. I’m in WA. LOVE THE FGX SUPERCHARGER. ALMOST C#m in my pants.👍👍🇦🇺😂
to be honest i would rather buy a fgx turbo for 30-40k and invest another 12-15k in performance parts. i truly believe when it’s comes to 6’s ford australia is the king but when it comes to v8s holden is the king.
Hi, can any one recommend a good, reliable and honest place to get my XR6 fully serviced (Perth) including a gearbox/transmission inspection (ZF) I’m not willing to service my car myself as I’m not experienced enough currently. I have previously taken my ford to a place which doesn’t service automatic gear boxes which isn’t ideal. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. Many thanks.
Having owned a Sprint 8 manual, and an F6 ZF6 at the same time, the F6, and Sprint 6, is better than the 8 in EVERY way, other than the sound of that V8. The manual box is not great unfortunately. It great for nostalgic reasons ONLY, but the driving experience is far from what you hope. Slow and clunky. Horrible driveline vibrations and axle tramp too. So many will hate on this comment, but it's the facts. I kept my F6, zero regrets.
I would keep the F6 yes.. but the V8 is more fun in some ways.. engagement and noise I would say.. in the manual.. but for sure power and speed zf + Barra ✂️
Haha, I have the opposite experience as owned both XR6 Sprint and manual 2014 FPV GT at same time. XR6 disappeared as always found the GT to be more engaging, sounded great and better looking in my eyes. Dare I say it, XR6 Sprint was kind of boring unless you applied more than 90% throttle.
@@Rooster1717 Each to their own. If you want the nostalgia, cos it makes you feel good, then go for it. The manual 8 ticks that box... BUT, If you want an actual performance car, because you actually drive it fast, and are able to use the car at its limits, then there is no comparison. The 6 wins in every way. But, we can take our pick. Aren't we lucky. ;)
What a shame that the owner of the XR8 isn't driving it, no mana, at the end of the day it is just a falcon, it's made to be driven and enjoyed, especially being the last falcon, it should be enjoyed and cherished. That being said, I understand the financial gain, but man, it's the end of a legendary nameplate, and even if he did drive it, he'd still make a profit.
Really? ... that the best you can do? And with only three grammatical errors in your four word comment. Good going you drongo!. Jealousy is a terrible thing aye?
Great video on comparison I own an fgx turbo had it from new, just clicked 100,000km no issues.just done cooler and piping and just got a gtx 3582 to wack on it with injectors and a venom turbo back and street fighter twin intank pump ( tho the jury is still out on that one). My son owns a vf 2 hsv sv black edition with a 6.2L with a trans braked turbo 400 and a 3800 stall, cam and heads only 59,000 on the clock, both nice cars but I must say the vf is insane to drive with a turbo 400 trans, no traction and instantly sideways. My son told me if I beat him in a drag race he is going pro charger. I'll beat him hands down and he knows it, so pro charger it is, my problem is which car to drive when he is away working. I look at both of them and think fuck it, the wife's zr corolla instead. It's great to have the luxury of having the last model of each brand in the garage. Other rides we own are a xe fairmont ghia v8 and a vl calais turbo with factory leather that we have had for years and no they are not for sale and never will be. They just keep going up in value

Cool vid mate as usual, pity you couldn't do the 0 to 100 test, maybe when the xr8 sprint cracks a 1000k's you can redo the review again👍
Let’s hope we can do that later down the line!
Damn i was so looking forward to you being proved wrong and doing a slower 0-100 than that barra lol. Great review man.
Well the holy grail I tested did 4.5 so I think both pretty spot on
@@RossReviewsau that holy grail must hook up really well for having that much power. It would probably dyno 400-430 rwkw.
XR8 for sure but damn that XR6 is nice
Both amazing
Hi Ross, great video mate 👍
Cheers Brett
Literally earlier today I saw a white XR8 Sprint
They are so nice
I'd love to own either, unfortunately they're still balls expensive 😪😪 FG's by themselves are still mad overpriced atm, 2010 XR6T's going for over 40k, but even a stock FG-X XR8 with over 100,000km on them are all over $50,000 😅😅 even non turbo FG-X 6's are over $30,000!
I can’t see it changing anytime soon.
Didn’t that bog standard FG XR6 turbo run the same 0-100 those smaller turbos make a big difference
Yup pretty incredible tho that run was slightly down hill
Sorry Johnno! My wifi went out. Hopefully catch ya on the next one!
All good brother
Such a shame the XR6 is auto only. That obliterates the desirability of the car for me, as a special car is all about the involvement factor. The XR8 sounds awesome and would be a fantastic drive I am sure. Visually though, I have never fallen in love with the FG-X, even in XR guise. Thoroughly enjoyed the review thanks Ross
I doesn't look like you were in launch mode in the 6. Mine holds @ 2000rpm for up to 10 secs in launch mode and sends it !
VF GTSR LSA & VF GTSR W1 LS9
The almighty LS9 you need to try that engine.
I would pick both of these cars if I had the money
Agreed both epic
@@RossReviewsaudefinitely
I’m going to look for that crystal ball
Haha me too!
I've been thinking of buying an XR8 Sprint. My mind is made up after seeing (hearing) 10:59.
Also, where'd you film this at? Doesn't look like the usual locale you film at 🤗🤗
Was a little further out on this one 😅
to be honest i would rather buy a fgx turbo for 30-40k and invest another 12-15k in performance parts. i truly believe when it’s comes to 6’s ford australia is the king but when it comes to v8s holden is the king.
Ross real men only use 3 pedals to drive 🤣😂🆒🇦🇺
Love a 3 pedal machine
The loss of the ford falcon is a tragedy. Same with the loss of Holden. Australia should have domestic car manufacturers.
Monster torque or dark horse performance
@@RossReviewsau legend, thank you!
So are we seeing you on the All Ford Day Cruise on October 30 mate?
I should be mate!
Gotta just say the sequential is pretty good
👌
48 for a turbo Ute sprint in Gladstone Queensland for sale at a dealer ship
They never made a sprint Ute mate
No Ute sprints sadly
@@chrissmith9854 am I thinking of the fgx?
@@RossReviewsau am I thinking of the fgx? Cause I seen utes with that front end 2 of them actually
Tickford Australia which has been resurrected should offer XR Sprint owners free Tickford badges to be placed above the XR logo.
Aren't we lucky. ;)
For everyday driving the XR6 Sprint will be more enjoyable and fun will be leaving a silly smirk on your face every time you push that throttle.
That’s fair mate.. probably right for daily duties but my pick was for a weekender
You reckon 60k for a 16 fgx xr6t with 20 000k on the clock is overs?
Stock
Very low kms.. sounds about right as you prob gonna pay what they cost new for a car like that
Imagine an idrive on the xr6 to reduce turbo lag
XR6
What a shame that the owner of the XR8 isn't driving it, no mana, at the end of the day it is just a falcon, it's made to be driven and enjoyed, especially being the last falcon, it should be enjoyed and cherished.
That being said, I understand the financial gain, but man, it's the end of a legendary nameplate, and even if he did drive it, he'd still make a profit.
I love these cars but I wish they made them look abit more sportier like Holden with their clubsport body kit..
Agreed wish we got Fpv ones
Both very sporty cars, I see it as a testament to the FGX design. Still, it would’ve been good to see some variation across the models. 👍🏻
Would love to see ross's reaction to driving something like a model 3 tesla , the instant tourq is not of this world , there wicked fast
I’ve driven 2 of them.. I don’t have much nice things to say about them.. they are fast but to me soulless
I'd prefer the XR6 Sprint any day
Can’t go wrong
Sorry you guys are stuck with the mustang. Its cool, but its common over here.
who maintains fords in australia now ?
Good tuner shops and there is still Ford dealers here
600 k's seriously.. like the engineers who made the car said (on youtube) drive the bloody thing man.
Yeh it’s a bit sad but the owner is lucky enough to have both so
Should of made a 2 door
Would have been cool to see
saddens me every time i think of how good we had it with aussie cars and non of this EV bullshit looming over us
It’s a crying shame eh
I.c.e anyone 😂
I think they're equally as sinfull
😈🇦🇺
Automatic 🤦🤦🤦
Only available in auto
@@RossReviewsau what were they thinking? 🤦
@@RossReviewsau gay.
I had electric cars in my mind till I saw this
🤣 I’m glad you seen this
Electric is not the way of the future!
There both shit box's
Really? ... that the best you can do? And with only three grammatical errors in your four word comment. Good going you drongo!. Jealousy is a terrible thing aye?
How so? Both make great power and both are pretty reliable, don’t have to spend much to get power out of them either 😂 stay mad bud
What do you drive?
Great video on comparison
I own an fgx turbo had it from new, just clicked 100,000km no issues.just done cooler and piping and just got a gtx 3582 to wack on it with injectors and a venom turbo back and street fighter twin intank pump ( tho the jury is still out on that one).
How did the sprint feel in terms of speed compared to your tuned f6 ross?
Pretty similar tbh.. but I think the sprint still has me for sure
B.B.B...
Both Bloody Brilliant !✌👍
Amen brother 👏🇦🇺
The FG was the last true to itself Falcon. This is a Falcon with a Mondeo front its not right imo.
this is the same car lol it just has a different bumper tho
@@RossReviewsau I know its still a Falcon its an ugly bumper, heaps of people dont like the look of that model. Dont take it personal.
