My imagination couldn’t conceive of someone such as Emmylou. Her voice is so provocative and packaged so well within a true blend of beauty and melody. She has captivated my taste for music 50 plus years now. Emmylou shivers my timbers!
Love Love Love Emmylou Harris, she was the heart of country music for me in the 70’s 80’s 90’s & continues to be. ❤ And Americana, she helped birth Americana with Rodney and Roseanne.
I met Emmylou at a meet ‘n greet after the first appearance of her with the Nash Ramblers in Sanford FL. I stayed up till almost 3am to get her to autograph my old copy of “Grievous Angel”. Happy Trails!
Happy 75th Birthday to a wonderful lady! Hard to believe that this video is from 40 years ago and that such a great singer songwriter is still going strong and so loved! Emmylou is a treasure! Again, happy 75th!
10 years ago I took my wife and my daughter for her graduation from high school to Ireland - a trip we talked about taking for many years. In the little village of Doolin, in a little shop filled with paintings I heard the old familiar songs of EmmyLou Harris. I talked to the painter and shopkeeper about EmmyLou Harris for a good 15 minutes. Amazing how the love of the music could bring two people together in shared admiration though normally separated by 4,000 miles!
Emmylou has the voice of an angel I’ve seen her many times and have Never been disappointed. I have to say there’s not one song 🎵 I don’t like/love. Emmylou you enriched my life so all through high school to present day 50 years later. 😮❤ Oh, we share the same Birthday, too with 10 year difference. Aries rock. ❤
There I was accidentally booked on one of those rock cruises with all of these terrific "Women of Rock." I didn't even realize it was a chartered ship, with venues all around, blocked off from us regular cruisers. One night I was grooving to the band onstage in the lobby, where everyone could go. As I danced on one leg (my broken ankle was in a walking boot) I noticed two women wearing western clothes and hats, dancing right next to me. I looked straight into the eyes of the older, prettier of the two. She looked right back into my eyes and smiled. The song ended and so did the dance. They disappeared. It took me a minute to realize that moment in heaven was with Emmylou Harris.
I am an agnostic/borderline atheist but God, SHE favored you that night. I would pay you money for that smile. When Emmylou came by her ethereal platinum she became like the younger sister of my late wife of 62+ years. Yes, God, SHE was good to me too. 15:53
She's just a fabulous artist. I've been a fan since 1975 and her music still holds up. I admire her for never chasing trends and especially for growing old gracefully
Fantastic! From VHS tape in 1983 to a perfect digital transition nearly 40 years later! Audio and video both retained at highest quality, remarkable and greatly appreciated. Thank you! ❤ 🎉
Met Emmy backstage in Phoenix during Yellow moon tour with Rodney Crowell. Both lovely, gratious people. My mom played Emmy at her small town restaurant in the Chilcotin/ Cariboo country in BC, Canada in the 80's . This lady lured me away from rock to country. Huge fan.
Hardly strictly bluegrass just finished up with Emmy Lou as closer, as usual. It's hard to make Golden gate Park prettier than it already is, and Emmy Lou manages to make it glow. 18 songs from a span of her entire career. What a professional. We'll keep coming back if she does. Long may she run❤
What can I say its all beautiful music, beautiful Emmylou and a great band. Watching now in Philippines while typhoon Soala hit northern Luzon. August 27, 2023...
Emmylou Harris has been making my heart skip a beat and do a back flip since I was 14 years old. I had a huge epiphany around that time, I became re-acquainted with country music, and it came about because of Emmylou Harris, and Asleep at the Wheel on Austin City Limits. I heard it on a deeper level than when I was little. Those sentiments remain until today. I am eternally grateful to Emmylou for providing not only great music, but for educating me by playing so much of the old stuff and revitalizing it.
Loved dancing with Emmylou back at the old Quiet Knight in Chicago back in the early 80's to Burning Spear reggae band! She was thrilled with the vibe and amazing music from the band and she and I danced a whole heap until the last note! The band played until 2 or 3am! She danced with her hands on her hips, country/reggae style with a huge smile on her face! Best night of my life! :)
I'm turning 75 this year also. Have been enjoying this wonderful woman's music since the 1970's... have seen her in concert and done many road trips with her amazing voice blasting in the vehicle. She's my favorite?!!
I'm happy I found this clip of Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band on Austin City Limits in 1982. Season 7 was a great year for the show, with a new set and a polished opening theme.👍
My Mom's last time out of the house on an adventure is going to be to see Emmylou in concert with the symphony. We both are looking forward to it and I will treasure this upcoming memory for the rest of my life! Thank you Emmylou!
22 years ago..and she's just as beautiful now as in 1982. Happy Birthday Emmy. I watched Emmylou when she was an unknown back in 1971 singing at bars in Washington DC. I knew then she would be a super star cause her voice was so beautiful. The Hot Band made it even better. Thanks Emmylou for the memories.
I still remember, as though it were yesterday, when a friend dropped by with a cassette. He said, "you have gotta hear this song".He played me Boulder To Birmingham.Times have changed. Now I listen to her on the iPod.Like you, I still love Emmylou.
Excellent footage. Going to see her April 22 in Dallas at the Longhorn Ballroom. I can't wait. I just finished 20,000 Roads. I need it. Fallen Angels forever.
As a testament to Emmy’s talent and devotion to country music, look at the musicians that have been in her band. Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell, James Burton, Albert Lee, Buddy Miller, Ricky Skaggs. To name a few
And that Damn Yankee Barry Tashian from famous Boston garage band The Remains who toured with the Beatles - tearing up those harmonies ;) He was good friends with Gram Parsons from his Harvard/International Submarine Band days.
I saw Emmy Lou and the Hot Band at the Pipeline Tavern in Seattle approx. 1977. A great show, like this one, that also included Albert Lee on lead guitar. Emmy's such a great performer and gives it her all.
Absolutely love Emmylou's music and her performances are just wonderful. I've been a fan since I discovered as a young lad in high school which was right around this time of this recording. Boy oh boy oh boy, did I have a crush on this pretty lady. I guess I still do. Thanks for posting this.
Emmylou's greatest gift to Country music besides all of her fantastic recordings, is convincing Vern Gosdin to leave his glass business in Georgia and get back into music again, helping him to get signed to Elektra.
Thanks to the killer harmonies of HERB PEDERSEN. He's been kind of an unsung hero of country, folk and bluegrass and been on countless albums over the decades.
Unbelievably talented and beautiful to this day! Terrific ACL session as she was in concert when I saw her about a year prior. Great memories. Keep on keepin'!
