- In 2016, I up-loaded this performance, which was taken from my collection of off-the-air VHS recordings. I only recently found out that there was a picture freeze and audio dropout in Paul Yandell's solo during the performance of "Dance With Me", which must have occurred when I made the tape-to-digital transfer. The VHS cassette is long gone; but, I was able to find an upload of just that tune and "borrowed" a small piece of it to patch over the freeze and dropout.
My first post had been viewed over 96,000 times.
Chet. What can you say? What a player the world lost. Thankfully we still have these performances and his many recordings.
The man is a legend, the first Certified. Guitar. Player.
This man has probably done more for music than any other artist in history. !
He made a lot of mistakes and was the reason outlaw country was successful because he was against it. He didn't want Elvis to make Gospel recordings. Until E sold more gospel records than Chet's best country artists at the time.
What a privilege to have shared some time on this planet with these two masters.
I hope they are still collaborating in the afterlife.
With Austin City Limits in its 7th season on PBS in 1982, the Austin skyline backdrop is introduced, with lights and trees so concertgoers can listen in, because the horse fences set simply wore out. Chairs and tables were added to the set, John Mills composed the opening theme music, and Austin City Limits creator and founder Bill Arhos returned as the executive producer, but we still have the same music format, and the same performances on Austin City Limits. During this season, Austin City Limits nominated and won their ACM and CMA Awards.👍
Chet has been a central figure in my family for many decades, since 1872 or so I believe.... Anyways, my father always told me Chet was his favorite so I caught on real quick. I last spotted him in Portland Maine playing with the PSO and we loved it. All respect and props to the authentic Certified Guitar Player.
I saw this show when it first played on National Public Television. The mostly unsung hero was Paul Yandell who played with Chet for over 25 years. Chet once said, if I remember correctly, that Paul could play everything that he could!! Now that's a compliment!!!🙂 In 2011, Chet's daughter bestowed on him the last Certified Guitar Player award and said there would be no more allowed by the Atkins estate.
So blessed and grateful to have this footage available to watch and listen to❤❤❤
Dankeschön für eure wundervolle Grtarrenmusik Renate grüßt🙋♀️🐘😍😊
Very talented man. I also like his demeanor.
Chet was a true and authentic "country gentleman."
Chet and Jethro weren't just related with their musical careers, they were brothers-in-law. Chet married Leona Johnson, Jethro married Lois Johnson. In the 40's they were a singing duet out of Cincinnati, "The Johnson Twins."
Thanks for these details :-)
Paul Yandell is wonderful in this.
Bravo! Many thanks.
Fantastic.
Thank you for sharing.
Chet and Jethro!

Real musicians. There are so many phonies out there.

This was back when adults going out on the town looked like adults.

I thought jethro would come in on the piccolo part on S&S Forever
Has there ever been a mrs or miss guitar?
I wish somebody would put a 4k of this program on You Tube. I recorded the original show on PBS long ago straight off the TV. That was in the 70's or 80's. I copied it to DVD. I still have the original VHS tape from PBS. I dubbed it to DVD

Absolutely Fantastic! What was the second last tunes played before San Antonio Rose ? Many thanks .
Faded Love preceded San Antonio Rose
That Dance With Me cover was off the charts
What's the name of the second song? That one hits great
Dance With Me, originally a hit by Orleans in 1975.
@@rickharris4513damn thanks a lot
9:31 what is the song?
Burns killin me with the comment about the folks walking in late. Lol. Im dying laughing.
Threw in some sour notes as melding the North with the South, still not a sweet proposition, eh? Haa. Yup !
He should've handed his guitar to Jethro, who was a much better player.
What a great.
