Thanks to your video, I was finally able to learn the boxer step! And, I've rather quickly gotten to the point where I can actually do a minute of it or so without screwing up, so yay!
If my 53 y.o. self can learn this, so can anyone else - thanks so much!!

FANTASTIC VIDEO! Turning 60 this month. Just started learning to jump rope and I am obsessed! I had the hardest time figuring out the boxer step, until today! I just went outside to “figure it out” and ended up jumping longer than I have been able to so far!!! Great explanation..I was trying to lift my knees up, like I was shown on another video. I would invariably end up tripping after just a few jumps. I am sweating and grinning and falling in love with jumping rope all at the same time!

I went to a Kickboxing class the other day and we jumped for 9 minutes (3 sets of 3 minutes). They were all doing this box step and I couldn't figure out how they did it or how they could jump for that long. Thanks for the info.

He's good! Its like he knew what Im going thru lol. Im so used to the regular bounce its the only thing I can do with minimal mess ups but eventually I get worn out.. I just can't coordinate my jumps to include boxer step. I tend to focus on getting the rhythm down on my feet but forget to swing the rope.

I have watched so many videos hoping to finally learn the cool, loose boxer step. That it's not that easy, we all know who found your video. Your approach with the big side step was the key and helped me to break through. Today, thank God, I forgot my sneakers and tried the boxer step barefoot for the first time following your instructions. Barefoot is much easier for me than with shoes. Thanks to your great explanations, I finally understood the rhythm and was able to sway briefly in the Boxer Step a few times. Olé. Thanks a lot and greetings from Switzerland!

I have been following CrossRope tutorials and you people motivated me to a great extent.I want to share an incident when two people were pro in skipping where I used to go for running I approached them to teach me as well which they rudely denied. That very incident made me watch videos on jumping rope right from basic jump to pro levels.
Thank you once again...And all of you viewers and their positive comments on their part of struggle during jumping rope. For many others it might be miniscule thing but for jum rope lovers doing their 1st Crisscross...Boxer alternate...And..Double unders is golden moment...Which I am also experiencing now after 3 months of Jumping rope.....I am still learning....

This is the only video which helped me get the boxer step. I always messed up my timings. The catch here is to practice the hops without rope first. After few drills like 10 mins without rope now try with rope. Suddenly your brain and body will catch the timing on when to hop with the rope. Then onwards daily practice the boxer step u will keep getting better. In 3 days your form will improve and you will do it effortlessly. Practice !!

Thanks for the detailed steps of doing this. My big problem is simply getting both feet off the ground. Doing the double bounce and then putting more weight on the outside foot. Also only do five skip sessions. Hoping to be a one foot jumper; it's looking possible. This is such a fun exercise, I carry a rope in my pack, to pull out at the first chance.

For me it came naturally to me after 2-3 weeks of doing the basic jump, it just tires you out to do the same jump all the time and your body tells u to do some variations and then u kinda naturally start doing the boxer step (and some others). at least that's how it worked for me

@@luca-uc9qu - Due to lack of practice I have made no progress with the jumping rope.
I have instead been practicing a similar exercise that does not require a rope.
Basically you find an object a few inches up to half a foot high from the floor. Eg, any road side curb, any type of stairs, a lump of wood, ect.
And you perform low jumps by taping the top of that object with the front part of the soles of your shoes, as fast as you can.
It is the same as jumping the rope.
(Must avoid looking down, and must keep a straight neck, chest forward. Otherwise you get pain in the neck).
