I drive a 2000 jeep xj & I was in the front of a lane at a red light.. light turned green, put some pressure on the gas pedal.. some dude in a M3 was trying to show off. Pretty much cuts me off while coming to another red light. What's the point? Lol. Bet he wouldnt have thought he was so cool if I didn't give a crap about my jeep & hit the back of his car. Or what if my brakes were bad? People do so much to show off. Haha, pathetic.
I had a mustang try me and they got pulled over lol like really a state trooper was right in front of me so i moved over and laugh. My ass off. Because the idiot drive passed the cop in his mustang and got pulled over and i drive a fusion.. Guess my car does look like an austin Martin lol
I drive a mustang and my dad told me what’s the point of showing off if most people don’t give 2 damns what you drive but it’s true I got a new mustang 2020 but sometimes you gotta show off for yourself my opinion but true ain’t no point of showing off in front of someone lmao
1) Always respect the power of your vehicle 2) Never put other motorists or pedestrians at risk 3) Understand that RWD vehicles have certain limitations 4) If you wanna fuck around, do it in a desolate area where you're not going to crash into a person, car, or wall 5) Be extra cautious if it even looks like it's going to rain and don't be that asshole attempting to drive it in the snow.
@@Bikencarguy Glad your okay....we all learn. I did dumb shit too that had lead to many close calls when I got a Pontiac Trans Am GTA as a 16 year old. I mean frankly, I don't even know how I made it unscathed.
I've driven front wheel drive sporty cars, big diesel truck most of my life. recently finally got me a nice older Cobra mustang. It's got enough power to easily break lose the 315's in the back on dry pavement in second gear. Just gotta not get too over the top. I guess driving in snowy conditions in WI my whole life have made me better at understanding rear wheel drive sliding.
Wow. I found this video by accident. As a 51 yr old with 2 Hellcats, who grew up on RWD V8's, I'd have to say you're quite accurate. You offer a refreshing, knowledgeable, and mature response to many things we see both on the streets and UA-cam. Great work! 👍
I don't knock the kids who go out and buy new ponies. They want to get in with the "other boys" and make an imprint on the car scene. The problem I have is that a lot of them are not willing to put aside their pride and learn how to drive. They want to believe that the car will do all the work for them. I'm not at all completely knowledgeable in cars. I still have a plethora of questions for all kinds of random people I meet at a car meet. A little humility/humbleness goes a long way in the car scene, no matter if it's Muscle, JDM, or Euro.
Jinlel where do you go to actually learn how to drive one? I live in Georgia and would like to learn more about my mustang from dudes that know what they're doing
@@tnunited30 im 23, went from driving a 90 pickup to a V6 mustang, maybe not as powerful as the V8, but it has enough power to show how shitty these cars handle lol. Fun to drive, but they really do handle for shit. For anyone new to driving something rear wheel drive, i'd recomend finding some less populated roads with some turns, etc and just kind of work your way up in speed, you can feel the reat end start come come out and just don't freak out, stay cool and you'll be good. don't immediately give it hell and just kind of stay comfortable as you go. when i first started driving my truck i caught a wicked fish tail on accident just driving around one rainy day, was a real wake up call on how to handle anything rear wheel, few years later and i drive the same truck in the winter for fun (it's rear wheel, street tires) and its' great. so, long story short, take it slow, have caution when driving and just take it easy, let the car do some work, but the real work comes from your head disclaimer: 2012 V6, manual and i could barely afford the base model, so don't knock me lol
@@chickenby No knocking man. We get what we can afford, as long as we enjoy it my man. V6 can still put out and yes rwd is a whole new world lmao. Especially without traction control on a wet road. Man those suckers will spin like crazy 😂😂
I'm looking forward to getting my pony. Trust me I'm getting to know that car before I do cars and coffee here in Dallas. I hoon failed in my 1999 tahoe. I was very lucky it was late at night and in the dead of winter. I was blessed that me and my truck made it out with a popped hose.
I appreciate the hell out of your videos. Not a lot of guys out here in these channels that are actually in the know. The people that really know about the strip and car setups are too preoccupied with living life. Thanks for taking time to make the content and put out good information. I lawled at the exhaust part
one of the biggest issues i've seen is when the car gets a bit sideways they let off the gas and the car hooks and goes wherever it's pointed. Glad you referenced the foxbody crowd. The fox however would spin you 360 most of the time if you didn't have a clue what you were doing and gassed it. Been foxing it up for 20 years now.
I had an SN95 that you could almost think about and it would do it. My fox on the other hand is a belligerent little thing, she wants to go violently back and forth.
My 82 Fox body was quite predictable. Student Body Right every time it hard launched over 2500 RPM. (Manual Tranny with Center Force 2 clutch) It was a very controllable glide and would straighten out quite nicely. I also put many hours of seat time in the car to get it's personality understood before I went hunting for Porche's and BMW's in So Cal. The weight distribution for that year was 60/40, so it made it easy to pivot on the front and hold a circle. It would get away from you if not careful. J turns were a real gas.
The 82 was only 140 HP from that 5.0, had one in black on black. All show, no go. TRX wheels were ruinous to get the Michelins and there where no other options.
Joey Galluzzo The small amount in there will make no difference compared to the amount of 93 in the tank. On top of that octane ratings are minimum. They can be higher than listed. I wouldn't stress it at all.
Steve Pounder yeah true, your right. TBH I only throw a splash in to get me to a cheaper pump if I have too and there's always at least 4 gallons in the tank. 👍🏻
Do what I do, even if you're only putting a few gallons in, always add octane booster/fuel treatment (I use Lucas which is a injector cleaner/octane booster). I also try to do at least 4-5 gallons minimum whenever I'm filling up though.
Joey Galluzzo I've worked in gas stations many years...the pumps have a system that pulls everything back and returns it to the tank....california is strict with this...other states don't have the environmental laws....I get people from other states and countries that don't know how to put gas because california gas nozzles are sensitive to vapor release and they'll shut off automatically if you don't hold the nozzle in the car....
Im in highschool in 11th grade, and 3 of my friends have crashed their stangs. Im the only one that has not, but I drive way safer, and I used to race go karts alot when I was a kid so I know about pushing my limits lmao. Main thing for me is, think before u act. And dont do anything stupid to show off.
Nathan Bearden 💯💯💯😴tru, the main reason they crash is bc it’s the cheapest car wit the most horse power so hella inexperienced drivers buy it,I won’t be one of them
maxibon actually, if you raced a kart on slicks in the rain, you’ll have VASTLY more car control than most people. A locked rear axle promotes massive BULK understeer on turn in followed by BULK oversteer once the turn is commenced. Combine that with an ultra short wheelbase and you have the perfect recipe for a SAFE training tool.
Couldn't agree more when you say that you've gotta get to know the car, gradually if you're smart, by taking it off the mainstream roads and start hitting back roads and parking lots. Get a real feel for the powerband, wheelbase, tranny...the car... so it gets to feeling very natural in almost any driving situation and road condition. Almost like an extension of your body, a limb, and the driving experience for a domestic will become second to none. Either that or prepare to be thrust into chaos when you least expect it. Maybe wear a diaper, buy really good insurance and pray you don't kill someone. For a domestic, I love the Stangs. FUN...when you know your cars limits, capabilities and most importantly, your own. Short wheelbases, rear wheel drive and tons of torque is a magical combination when you're in full control.
I remember back when I was around 19 years old I had bought and 89 5.0 mustang. Before that I had 2 front wheel drive cars. The third or 4th day I had the car the pavement was a little wet. I stomped the gas medal around 25mph and the back end came around to meet the front end. I nearly hit the curb but managed some how to steer out of it. So long story short I learned a valuable lesson that day. I never got that close to losing control again. I learned to counter steer and know where to draw the line when the car was starting get out of my control.
Great advice. Take it from a 62 year old dude that has owned all kinds of fairly performance cars, done some rally and slalom racing, drove truck, millions of miles accident free but none of it was in one of these babies. I started with a new 21 GT, successfully put 8,000 miles on it and traded it in for a Roush. With great power comes great responsibility. It took me a month of driving to get up to the point of trying a burnout with the GT and how right you are, they do like to get snaky. I got the Roush just before snow and only drove it about 200 miles, but it demands a lot of respect. They are incredible cars, but you got to get used to what you are dealing with just like the man says. Right on the money!
bro.. props on this channel👍 i been subscribed for a month or two now. Im a gen6 camaro owner..never owned a mustang, yet i just appreciate the way you talk about your car shit... keep it up..
I thought I was going to be a squid when I purchased my first mustang (21 GT), but it turns out that driving v8 trucks my whole life prepared me pretty well. In the sense of never disrespecting your vehicle's power, always expect an unexpected loss of control, and never swoon without practicing. I only started losing the rear end on purpose recently, but was surprised at how controllable it is. Honestly, I'm a little surprised at how soon Ford wants its traction control to take over, even with it off. Advanced traction control being off might resolve that, but just tapping it off once gets the job done if I'm trying to skirt. Tested out 19x10/11 wheels on Nitto NT555s and installed my lowering springs yesterday. Love me my country roads.
I acted like a mustang driver the other day. my manual g37 I dropped the clutch then WOT on a cold wet road and I'm still spinning in 3rd gear exhaust screaming then rear end goes left and lost it. Skidding totally sideways eventually ending up backwards. The force debeaded a rear tire so it was flat. Then I drove home 120mph not knowing I had a flat rear tire lol.
I don't get you at all man. I've been racing for 20 years and carry a few different types of racing licenses, and I'd never advise anyone to go "hoonin'" on the streets - that's what the track is for. The street is where the bad accidents really happens. If you put your car into the wall at the track, well at least you only hurt yourself and there's usually a medical staff. When people go out on the street in cars they can't drive, that's where it usually ends really bad and spectators are hit. Fact is this. Sometimes you go to the track and there are newbies, and so what? We've all been there. Instead of making a video that bags on those who don't know how to use the waterbox, why not make a video that shows how to use it, and tells those that run tires with treads to stay out of it all together, as they don't even benefit from a burnout. When you see a new guy at the track, do you shout at him and make him nervous for not doing the right thing, or do you help him stage and do his burnout the right way? Think about it buddy.
I’m glad you said it unfortunately he won’t ever read this and his ego is to big to realize how stupid of a comment that is. He acts like he is the all knowing and that it’s beneath him to have someone that doesn’t know what they are doing be around him.
@Laurie I didn't restrict it to mustangs. Note I stated "muscle cars." And do you find it odd that the parking lots at kkklan rallies have no Audi, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Lexus, Volvo, Subaru,...,... brand cars, but no shortage of muscle cars and lifted trucks. Hmmmm? I'm not a fan of safe driving either. Life is far too short to waste it going the speed limit from A to B. I'm usually between 10 and 60 over the speed limit, and haven't been in an accident for 20 years. You should read up on how speed limits are arrived at. It has nothing to do with safety. Why do you think the same cross country highway changes speed limits many times between LA and NY, when road conditions are the same.
Great vid. Just picked up a manual GT and I’m 26, it’s a lot of power I’m not used to and the last thing I want is to lose control. Think I’ll take it to the track to learn how to handle its power before getting too giddy on the streets
I'd say that Fox body is possibly the best car ever made to go in a straight line, factory. S197 is my favorite look so far. The new ones are definitely the sportiest, almost a mix of a New Age and a S197 or something, but definitely a cool looking car. Right now we are in a great era of muscle cars, maybe 2nd only to the 60s.
Honestly I’m 19 and have had a 14 mustang for a year now and this is so true. It was my first car and I’ve driven the hell out of it so I’m glad I started on a RWD mustang.
LMAO You are so right Alejandro, Im in my 50's and me and a good friend use to drag race back in the day and have saw alot of squids. except we called them wannabe's. And after owning a Mustang GT for about a year now, they do have different characteristics, not like an old Monte Carlo or Chevelle at all. Really enjoy your video's. Maybe see you around somewhere sometime and buy you a coffee .
On my second mustang at the moment, working on my 3rd, 99 SVT Cobra, own an 02 V6, and recently sold my 97, I've been working up to the power of a V8. Dont wanna be dumb and become a Crowd Killer. Got to get a feel for the car before pulling some crazy shit. I drive my car in the winter time, it's not easy but I manage.
I knew about Mustang crashes before I got mine so I slowly eased into the power after I got it. Car came equipped with nitrous and I still haven't used it. Took the bottle out until I know the car well.
@@RogueSniperGaming Ya ya,... I'seen nitrous in '79 camaros with no TCS or Stability Control.... All about the driver and how much you know your car and have good tires..
I've owned four GT Mustangs, including my current 2018 GT and the rear ends on all of them snapped when l floored it. Luckily, I've been able to correct the spins and have never had an incident.
My 14 GT's rear bounced like a basketball the first time I took it down the track at MIR. I quickly found out that the soft runner bushings that the factory put in for NVH reasons was not good for quick 1/4 mile times. After I replaced the rear UCA with and adjustable one and got rid of the garbage lowers the car squatted better off the line without the wheel hop and deflection and felt more like my old 90 LX did back in the day when leaving the line. I would suggest that anyone with a Coyote GT do the rear suspension first before trying to go faster. The GT500's sound great, I have them with a Lethal ORH and it sounds like a Mustang should. That aluminum corrosion is terrible, I had to have the hood of my 14 replaced by the dealer under warranty back in the summer of 2015 because it was bubbling along the front lip.
Mustangs are a dime a dozen. From what I've witnessed, the only way to separate yourself from the rest of the giant herd is to try to drive or act like a show off.
I was in a friends 2014 gt500 yesterday (reason why I’m watching this) he started to swing at the top of second, I was staring at a mailbox and he no lift shifted into third and somehow straightened it out, looked at me and said “yeah, that happens sometimes” 😂😂
I am 63 years old and what you are saying makes a lot of sense. I grew up driving all kinds of "muscle cars" and hot rods all of which were rear wheel drive. Every car I drove was rear wheel drive for the first 15 years of driving. I was at many street drag races. I never saw anyone lose control the way these new Mustang drivers do. I think you hit it on the head. They don't know how to drive a rear wheel car and then try driving a high powered one really hard. Not good!
I went from a 400hp Speed3 FWD to a 2017 S550 GT. I highly agree with getting used to the RWD, even with IRS it loves to spin. So I added Steeda Stage 2(absolute must). I just added the Stage 3 Ford performance pack. Why didn't I go full Boost? Well, warranty and I want to get used to the power gains. I find some empty roads and learn how to correct my spins and burnouts. Than comes the real power.
I just got my fox body mustang and that thing ain't stock at all lol but when I got it my uncle told me "when you disrespect your car the car will disrespect you". And that's why I don't fuck around on public streets
The live axle is not any different than the S550 around a corner it's only different if there are decent bumps/holes. Every rear wheel car spins out around a corner if the power given is more than the tire traction also. People really underestimate how many mustangs there are on the road compared to other rear wheel drive cars with lots of power and torque. Like in 2016 the mustang sold worldwide like more than all the other cars in it's class combined over 150,000. It's been the best seller in it's class for like 50 years in the US. Remember the Camaro was not even being made for 6 years from 2003 to 2008 so there are TONs more mustangs. On top of there being just more cars, there are more mustang only car shows and clubs etc than any other single car model. What this means is there are tons more situations where there are people around mustangs with cameras video taping at mustang exclusive events not to mention there are tons of mustangs at every other car show so the chance of taping the car accident and it being a mustang is even more inflated. There is nothing different about the mustang causing it to crash, it's just simple statistics. Every rear wheel car with power will spin around the same way if you turn the wheel and gas it. Quite honestly I am tired of the Mustang meme.
@@balance667 she’s not wrong tho tbh😭I’ve seen mustangs, chargers and Camaros lose control in a corner because the driver floored it in a turn and spun out
@@balance667why don't you accept the fact that what she said was 110% accurate and why you see more mustangs crash because there are just way more cars and opportunities for it. Not only that they're some of the cheapest so more people can afford to get in them (most don't know how to drive) and this pushes the number up too. This is the one thing that mustang haters like yourself can cling on to though you can't come up with anything else that is why this overused joke is still being beat to death all these years later, despite the fact you see way more dodges crashing these days. It's just the one thing mustang haters can hang their hat on and they don't wanna let go of it for any reason lol. Pathetic.
You are absolutely correct. These kids grew up with FWD vehicles and buy themselves a high horsepower RWD V8. I drive a Firebird and had a 78 Trans Am back in the day that I dropped a 455 SD in. The F-body cars are known to be squirrelly as they're so light in the back end. I'm gonna assume the newer Mustangs are the same. You have to learn how to control your car when it wants to go sideways. At least let off the accelerator and concentrate on straightening it back up. So many of these crash videos, you can hear they are accelerating up to the point they crash.
and most of the time mustangs are crashing is at stuff like cars and coffee, like the guy said in the video guys that go to these maybe arent as experienced drivers and try to show off there vehicle. if you have been to a underground/ not organized car meet, the mustangs dont crash.
Cool video dude. Right now I have a manual Volvo S40 T4. You didn’t get those in the states, but anyway, apparently I’ll get a good job in a couple of weeks and will start saving for an S197 Mustang. At 24 years old, I really thought it would be good to search “how not to crash a Mustang” haha. Great channel of yours.
Sorry Alex, but I finally caught you in some BS . Yes it took me a couple of years but now I got your ass... Haha, seriously though, those single hose pumps have drain back pumps. Older styles did not but the current ones do. When the pump has met its demand it will block and drain any fuel left in the lines. The 3 flavor pump station uses a single pump diafram to pump up to the nozzle and when it stops a metering block turns on the fuel diafram until the line is empty, they don't leave fuel in the hose. Yes, I'm a electrician and I wire these pumps all the time, including the drain back diaframs
You are correct, sir. As a former gasoline delivery driver, I've had people come up to me and ask all sorts of questions that were mostly filled with misinformation. Like, don't buy gas while the truck is making a delivery because it stirs up the dirt at the bottom of the tank and you'll get it in your cars tank. Yeah, that's sooo not true. First, it's filtered before it gets in the trucks tank. Second, it's filtered twice, before it gets into your cars tank. But I digress. As for crashing ANY car, high horsepower or not, fwd, awd, or rwd, it's really all about the driver, their experience, and most importantly, their common sense. I have over 1.5 million miles CERTIFIED safe driving. And probably more than half of that in four wheelers in addition. I used to street race in my '72 Pro-Street Vega, waaaay back in the day. We didn't have all the goodies and electronic gizmos you younger guys and gals have available to you now. It was run what ya brung, and you'd better be on your best behavior with your best skills, both in engine building as well as driving. These days, you just plug in a mini computer, or go down to a local "tuner" and fork over your cash to get a faster car. Or worse, you just buy a fast car. Whatever happened to long nights in the garage??? I still have scars on my knuckles from my youth, under the hood, under the car, wrenching on whatever needed fixing or improving. I now understand what my parents meant, when they said "we didn't have it as good as you kids do today". Damn, I'm old!
Those long nights in the garage are still out there. Just fewer. I am 28 years old, been wrenching on cars since 13 years old. Proud of all my scars , burns, and funny/crazy/frustrating under hood experience. You see the worst on here man. There are plenty of good wrenchers still doing it for fun. Rm
k watched 5 minutes, still just blabber, closed it And this was shared in some website article "the science behind why mustang owners crash their cars". how scientific, indeed
So funny your blend door clicks when you start it up as well, my 2012 had that happening to it.. so annoying when someone gets in your car and you have to convince them it's just a 30$ piece of plastic and something more lmao. Unfortunately, I totaled my mustang in the rain a year ago, and it's insane how you can go for a well experienced driver, to totaling a car and feeling like a newbie with a few inches of water on the road with these cars. slow and steady.
I’m watching this video 2 years after the original post and I’m going from an Eclipse GT to an S550....hit the nail on the head 🤣 I take corners at 45 and scared shirtless to even think of an S550 taking a corner at 45 in the same angles 🤣
One other point is that the regular 5.0s come with 245s. That is just not enough tire and you are going to break loose every time you come from a stop. Great video Alex.
245s? Mine came with 235/50/18 all seasons... they were bad when the car was new and stock at 420hp, they were comically bad when I put a 3700 torque converter in it... I had to look out the passenger window to see where I'm going most of the time. I now have 325s and my main problem is rubbing the fenders... gonna go down to 295s or 275s like this car though... Tempted to go bias ply since in 6 years it's only at 17k miles...
Only a tiny, tiny, tiny handful of stick corvette guys actually know how the really drag their cars, and that's a fact. Good info on the pump, never even thought about it.
Bought my first Mustang last month and yes she likes to swing her bottom towards parked cars, crowds or any kind of group on the side of the road, but i just tell her "no, i need to get to work" and she chills. Good thing i spun out a shit ton of times in Forza on a Shelby500 to learn not to try shit in real life
I learned from project cars 2 that if you go full gas in a mustang, you will spin out. You have to go easy on the gas to control the car. I tried a classic camero and I was able to go full gas and not spin out.
Mustangs inherently have terrible handling because ford cheaps out on premium handling parts, springs, struts, control arms etc. Thats why my first few mods was all handling. I love my s197 but god did it need suspension and handling up grades lol.
I bought a 19 Mustang and it handles brilliantly. I don't drag race, but out on the country backroads, the car is nearly unflappable...and that's with Goodyear Eagle all season tires. I have no idea what this guy is talking about.

saddlebag A brand new car with brand new tires isn’t the same thing as a 10 year old sports car with bald tires and a lead-footed teenager...
@@saddle8bag The s550 suspension setup is vastly superior than its predecessors. However, I am seeing a lot of them in crash videos--where it's a spin out handling issue. I'm looking to buy one for my next car, but I'm an okay-good driver, so I'm a bit worried I need to be expert-pro level first..
@@boilerhousegarage I can definitely see that. I leave the TC enabled. I learned from my RX-8 how easy it was to get the rear end fishtailing uncontrollably when the TC was disabled. And that car has nothing on the power of this Mustang.
I think your right. This is the first affordabke platform that nakes 400+whp Btw, my first time ever at rhe track i was making 627whp on a radial. Ran 11.4@126. Next pass i broke my driveshaft. love the videos yolo
Going to pick up a set of Bias Ply ET Street R's on Friday. Have run the radials on the street and they work great but I know when I go to the track the new ones will get the car to work better. These Coyote swap cars are pretty damn fun.
Incorrect. 4 variable independent cams arent easy to control. If you eliminate VCT these cams on 5.0's will chop depending on where you lock them because they are quite aggressive and provide a ton of torque. you sir are incorrect in your assumption.
Strangles, think about it this way, take a little VTEC car and force it onto the VTEC cam and you will have chop (and run like shit below 4krpm lol), now think of the coyote as having vtec (i know sounds dumb lol) but instead of the higher more aggressive cam specs being an on/off switch its fed in for the most power and good quick starting and drivability down low and a smooth idle. Only difference would be VTEC raises valve lift where our setups dont. Also you can have a high lift high duration cam not be choppy on the LS motors, and you can take a stock spec LS camshaft and only change the overlap and get chop.
FYI Alex when I type somewhere you already have posted/replied I feel like im talking in front of a cop choosing my words and what im saying very carefully as I know you will not hold back when something wrong or dumb is said lol
There are a number of underlying reasons but I’d say given the fact there are more Mustangs on the road than any other car in its classification is probably reason number one.
At 7:30 you could not be more wrong that could never happen maybe back in the 70's with old styles pumps with only two grades to to choose from could you imagine the money that Exxon and Shell would lose each grade has its own Valve and the pump has its own check valve as well as a safety feature there is no gas left in it at all Under federal law and strict County And state regulations all pumps have to be inspected on a 6 month basis by a licensed technician to make sure they operate correctly so each customer gets the correct gas he or she choose not a mix imagine the lawsuits they would have
It’s the electronic stability control that’s why A lot of people crash because whenever you’re turning one way the computer tries to counter it and makes it turn the other way
I bought my first v8 when I was 18 with my own money it is a 1990 5.0 5 speed foxbody mustang. Very fun car to drive but needed so much work to get the original power and drivability from it. Well long story short I put all my knowledge towards the engine as in putting new gaskets and figuring out vacuum lines that were bad. Once the car made original power I launched the car with old suspension and I about three wheel the mustang rear end bushings were bad and the quad shocks were bad so yes your 💯 correct to make sure you test your car before you go out and try to launch it cause if I did that by a crowd of people the car could have launched a total different way anyone is ready for. My mustang is perfectly fine rn just building it rn.
front runner always look low. Mickey Thompson sportsman s/r radials on my ride. never have a problem, but the low pressure look has gotten me checking a few times. lol
What kills me is on almost all of the wrecks ive seen here on the tube, watch the brake lights, car is already in a skid DONT HIT THE BRAKES! They panic brake and bam hits a crowd, curb, wall, car etc. It makes us car enthusiasts look bad. But it is what it is. Stay safe out there yall.
Youre very informative and entertaining to watch! But just a small correction, in motorcycle world, squid refers to anyone who rides without riding gears, not just newbies
I practice on the street all the time. Not doing burnouts but checking on the stopping and turning and how the car handles on the wet roads, whatever. Just do it where there aren't any people or cars or houses to hit. Not where anybody can get hurt. Huge empty parking lots are good. Anywhere people are not. Cheers.
2010 GT here. I've never wrecked but before I even watch the I say it's because the rear end can break loose if you aren't careful. It's light in the rear and has more than enough power to break traction. When you are fishtailing it's like driving on ice. It's best to have a good set of sticky tires on a mustang. Mine are wider in the back than in the front
The traction control system on mustang is the most driver friendly system I've ever experienced. It will let you spin tires and hang the rear out as long as you want, and won't kick in till you start getting super extreme. If you can drive it makes the car fun as fuck. If you can't you panic and crash into something
Thanks Alex for all the info tires are important to have proper air pressure whatever you determine that is. Thought I add what I do, I turn off my traction control because I don’t need brakes helping with my traction and confusing my launch unless it’s in snow. My rear end has a POSI that works really well. Too bad some Manufactures want vehicle do things you wish they never had come up with as default. Manufactures make you turn things off each time you start up. My pet peeves are auto-start-stop, and traction control wish I just had an old fashion on-off switch instead of programmed to come on in default. That I have to remember to switch off each time. Yes it’s an odd pet peeves but when others drive the vehicle they all over the road not knowing power going down brakes might add bit more adventure? I’d prefer default be reversed or just old on off switch. One guy I know unplugs some fuse and pulls a wheel speed sensor not sure why. Me I just try to remember to turn off options I don’t need helping.
haha talking about fluctuating idle after it idles down on cold start.... mine did that forever and I recently stopped using Shell 93 gas and switched to Exxon-Mobile and it doesn't do it anymore. So guess I dont have to blame my tuner (Lund) 😂😂
LOL u park it away so no scratches, you kill me. Good tip with fuel pump and enjoyed video. I have a 2015 GT performance package and 6 sp manual and love it. Live in snow belt and run Continental Contact Sports - work very well for lots of occasions. Thanks and best wishes!
Conti posted a video of corvette crashes. Plenty of squids to go 'round! I drive a 2016 Ecoboost Mustang. It's only tuned with the Ford Performance tune that comes with the FP CAI. Street lowering package, 1 inch. also FP. Nitto 555's, for rubber, for example. So not too souped up at all. Once the turbo kicks in (2.5 seconds after you give it gas) if there is any moisture on the road at all, or maybe some dew on painted road surfaces, let alone pooling water, it will break loose when the power comes in. If the 555s have some tread wear especially...she'll start come around from the ass end. With traction control on. Since I tested it out on the road, with no one nearby, I am familiar with how and when my car breaks loose. I don't do burnouts or hard launches, its my daily and I don't want to destroy it and I don't race. I've also been driving vehicles since I was 13, tractors, mini bikes, motorcycles, Fiats, '71 Olds Cutlass, Toyota Starlight, pickup trucks of all makes and sizes, box trucks, vans etc. etc. I've lived in PA, CA, NJ, & FL, driven up and down the east and west coast of the U.S., Canada and Costa Rico. Many many miles. I have been in accidents as a passenger and a driver. My fault, other peoples fault. Well maintained vehicles, poorly maintained vehicles. There is no substitute for experience. I am not a noob anymore. But in a car that is new, to me, I am always a noob. I have an idea how the car or truck will handle, but it takes some time to really get the feel for a different car. Before I go do something stupid, I'm testing it out somewhere I can't get into trouble, first. Ok so its just a puny 2.3L EB. So what!? Doing that saved my ass on a mountain road, Rt 38 up to Big Bear. A person pulled into a tournout to let me pass. Going around a tight curve. But they don't stop in the tournouts. Once committed, you HAVE to pass as the car you are passing IS coming back onto the highway. So sometimes you have to get into the opposing lane because the car in the tournout isn't fully out of the regular travel lane. I was passing, cheating across the double line, and along comes a car in the opposite direction. I blipped the engine. Hit the gas asking for full power. Sure enough, a power surge and when the tires came across the painted double line, they spun the ass out. Fortunately I've practiced this many times on the wetted road near my local 7-11 where the sprinkler water runs onto the street. Simply taking your foot off the gas ends the wheel spin and traction is recovered. This is what happened in the mountains and I was ready for it. Accident averted. The more power, (GT anyone) the faster you are going to get into trouble. 38 years of driving and I am still learning. There is nothing like experience, sometimes you have to get onto a few accidents to gain that experience. Just remember there are other people out there too. I don't care if you hurt yourself. That's your choice. But don't endanger me at your expense. I didn't sign up for that. Cheers.
Definitely lack of experience. I used to think it was because all the squids learned all they know about driving was from playing GTA. I have been a road course instructor due to competing in Mustangs for a couple of decades. In everything from 1st Gen Gt-350s , Boss 429s, Mustang Cobras, S197 GTs, and now a 17 GT-350.
You can damage the sidewalls of the tire without a tube. I would just go ahead and do what the tire manufacturer says... I'd think they would probably know best
Hey, Alejandro love the videos, I'm a disabled US Marine veteran and during my service, we often referred to Navy personnel as Squids so I'm curious to know if you were in the service?
People go all out on the suspension on Fox body's like my buddy did with his Notchback.. His Notchback is probably tighter feeling than my stock 17.. Yeah he has that car running fast for not having a built motor in it. He did a get job keeping it stockish.. He's always doing something to make it run or handle better.. It's clean and has some modern touches too, power locks with the key Fab the key pops out of it, pretty cool stuff like that.. And the car rip's with that T5 in it.. I laugh when people talk shit on the MT82 they have no idea how bad we had it with 70's, 80's, and 90's cars and trucks transmissions.. Now they just click a padel on the wheel.. It's amazing and great I guess.. I like rowing my own gears in a sport car though, it's what I grew up on..

1) Always respect the power of your vehicle
2) Never put other motorists or pedestrians at risk
3) Understand that RWD vehicles have certain limitations
4) If you wanna fuck around, do it in a desolate area where you're not going to crash into a person, car, or wall
5) Be extra cautious if it even looks like it's going to rain and don't be that asshole attempting to drive it in the snow.

Agreed, i went from a little eclipse to a v8, huge difference and lots of practice before i even daily drove it. Some people dont understand man.
@@tnunited30 im 23, went from driving a 90 pickup to a V6 mustang, maybe not as powerful as the V8, but it has enough power to show how shitty these cars handle lol. Fun to drive, but they really do handle for shit. For anyone new to driving something rear wheel drive, i'd recomend finding some less populated roads with some turns, etc and just kind of work your way up in speed, you can feel the reat end start come come out and just don't freak out, stay cool and you'll be good. don't immediately give it hell and just kind of stay comfortable as you go. when i first started driving my truck i caught a wicked fish tail on accident just driving around one rainy day, was a real wake up call on how to handle anything rear wheel, few years later and i drive the same truck in the winter for fun (it's rear wheel, street tires) and its' great.
so, long story short, take it slow, have caution when driving and just take it easy, let the car do some work, but the real work comes from your head

I always do a splash of gas I didn't even realize that there's 87 in the pump line. I feel like such an idiot, good tip 👍🏻
You're pretty stupid if you didn't realize that. It's why I only fill up once I'm at a half talk or less.
Im in highschool in 11th grade, and 3 of my friends have crashed their stangs. Im the only one that has not, but I drive way safer, and I used to race go karts alot when I was a kid so I know about pushing my limits lmao. Main thing for me is, think before u act. Nathan Bearden 💯💯💯😴tru, the main reason they crash is bc it’s the cheapest car wit the most horse power so hella inexperienced drivers buy it,I won’t be one of them
hm go karts vs mustangs... hmmm barely any difference
maxibon actually, if you raced a kart on slicks in the rain, you’ll have VASTLY more car control than most people. A locked rear axle promotes massive BULK understeer on turn in followed by BULK oversteer once the turn is commenced. Combine that with an ultra short wheelbase and you have the perfect recipe for a SAFE training tool.
@@burkeyatm Thankyou. Someone that understands.. unlike others lol
Nathan Bearden people who’ve never driven something at or beyond it’s limit will never understand. Karting (done properly) is a tool for life. 👍

I show off, by not crashing into things.
I never thought about that with the fuel left in the gas pumps...good tip! Thumbs up 👍
bro.. props on this channel👍 i been subscribed for a month or two now.
Yes sir. Good points. Powerful car that's really affordable.
This is the video that convinced me to buy my 2017 GT two days before purchase…. Had to come back to it!🔥
This video should’ve been 4 seconds long - “ people can’t drive for sheet “ the end lol

It's amazing how the Foxbody in particular the 87-93 models still handles better than the new 5.0 lol
Mustangs are a dime a dozen. From what I've witnessed, the only way to separate yourself from the rest of the giant herd is to try to drive or act like a show off.
Not steering into the slide is 90% of the problem. Most people don't know how to counter a slide when doing a burnout

You can buy the car but you can't buy the talent

Eh Im fairly young with a V8 Stang and never wrecked. Then again I never really drove anything over 300 HP.
I’m 17 and I’m getting an 05 Mustang 😂😂
Rm
GOT EEMM!!!
Good info thanks, I like Alex thought that entire hose had whatever was left by the other guy.
Rm
cubbysrig every nights a long night in the garage if you own a jeep
Yes, this is truth.
*diaphragms
The biggest thing that clicked with me in this video was the fuel pump lesson. It makes so much sense!
k watched 5 minutes, still just blabber, closed it
And this was shared in some website article "the science behind why mustang owners crash their cars". how scientific, indeed
GaborBartal Sounds like whatever website that linked this is full of dumbasses. Welcome to the real world, stop taking everything seriously.
Grew up in foxbodys so I feel you hit the nail on the head from my point of view... and I have a 2020 gt as well
BAHAH BRO. My new 16 Fiesta ST has the same shit with the Blend Door. Great Vid dude.
I’m watching this video 2 years after the original post and I’m going from an Eclipse GT to an S550....hit the nail on the head 🤣 I take corners at 45 and scared shirtless to even think of an S550 taking a corner at 45 in the same angles 🤣
The S550 is built for cornering. You will find that out the longer you drive it.
I have a 2000 Honda Civic and I watch these videos to satisfy my thirst. LOL
My day will come.
I'm a squid lol I just got mine 6 months ago and I recently just did my first race lol I didn't hit a crowd lol
Mr Artax love the attitude. 😂
Atta boy
Keep trying. You'll get there.
Lol
Bought my first Mustang last month and yes she likes to swing her bottom towards parked cars, crowds or any kind of group on the side of the road, but i just tell her "no, i need to get to work" and she chills.
Good thing i spun out a shit ton of times in Forza on a Shelby500 to learn not to try shit in real life
Mustangs suffer from Short wheel base, straight axle (usually open), poor weight distribution, poor hp/ltr (older stuff), poor brakes...
Basically a poor car that only does good in burn outs nothing else.
@@track-therapyracing4034 you should really see the newer mustangs
Go test drive a newer S550 GT PP 1 or 2. Posi, 6 piston brembos, rear independent susp, you will be amazed.
I learned from project cars 2 that if you go full gas in a mustang, you will spin out. You have to go easy on the gas to control the car. I tried a classic camero and I was able to go full gas and not spin out.
It would be cool if u could do some instructional videos and teach us squids how to drive😉
Thank you for all the advice, even someone like me who's been driving street cars, sportbikes for years takes this stuff seriously 🙏
This is why I do a lot of “hoonin” in my 02 mustang 😂 I’m getting ready for a 2013 gt
buy a foxbody
Thanks for the advice and tips - Very helpful !. 13 Gt here in little NZ .
Mustangs inherently have terrible handling because ford cheaps out on premium handling parts, springs, struts, control arms etc. Thats why my first few mods was all handling. I love my s197 but god did it need suspension and handling up grades lol.
theonlykisboi exactly. When i bought my New Edge i went right to suspension and handling before I upgraded the power
This is the first affordabke platform that nakes 400+whp
Btw, my first time ever at rhe track i was making 627whp on a radial. Ran 11.4@126. Next pass i broke my driveshaft.
love the videos yolo
3:08 for the question, sheeeeit
👍
Going to pick up a set of Bias Ply ET Street R's on Friday. Have run the radials on the street and they work great but I know when I go to the track the new ones will get the car to work better.
These Coyote swap cars are pretty damn fun.
Streetspeed717 cold starts out of control lol
lmfscrew Tuner is too lazy to tune cold start.
Incorrect. 4 variable independent cams arent easy to control. If you eliminate VCT these cams on 5.0's will chop depending on where you lock them because they are quite aggressive and provide a ton of torque. you sir are incorrect in your assumption.
Stangles because they have to pass emissions and make power. cant pass emissions going in there and chopping like an idiot
At 7:30 you could not be more wrong that could never happen maybe back in the 70's with old styles pumps with only two grades to to choose from could you imagine the money that Exxon and Shell would lose each grade has its own Valve and the pump has its own check valve as well as a safety feature there is no gas left in it at all Under federal law and strict County And state regulations all pumps have to be inspected on a 6 month basis by a licensed technician to make sure they operate correctly so each customer gets the correct gas he or she choose not a mix imagine the lawsuits they would have
It’s the electronic stability control that’s why A lot of people crash because whenever you’re turning one way the computer tries to counter it and makes it turn the other way
Yep, snap back.
Those newer 5.0's are crazy quick
Here is a few tips first do a brake stand and warm up tires good, then rev car to 3000 rpm pop clutch and launch you will not go out of control.
Practice on the street before track, the possibility of fatalities sounds high that way! 👀😒
Mine are wider in the back than in the front
gotta respect the power!
When you said Celica. I was like “he’s talking to me” hahaha
First, I need to know why they crash lmao
Cheers.
I like this guy. His channel seems really legit.
Maybe someone can answer my question. What's the difference between running a Bias Ply with and without a tube?
Run it without a tube......end of story.....weight reduction.....
You can damage the sidewalls of the tire without a tube. I would just go ahead and do what the tire manufacturer says... I'd think they would probably know best
Stock Films gyyyyy
Hey, Alejandro love the videos, I'm a disabled US Marine veteran and during my service, we often referred to Navy personnel as Squids so I'm curious to know if you were in the service?
I love watching your videos.. so much horseshit out there, you always shoot straight, appreciate you my dude.
I agree with you for once:). It all comes down to people that don't know what the hell they are doing in their mustang (or any car for that matter).
hey alex. do a vid on 93 to e85 swap or is it better to stay on 93 for a daily driver. tanx for your knowledge vids 👍🤣
Blueboy 956 bruh he already made a video on this... he explained e85, pros cons etc just browse
Thanks for the info, car sounds great!
I’m on my second mustang GT manual. I got rear ended at a red light and the first was totaled. I wasn’t even moving lol. My new one I daily drive every day and even drive it in the rain I’ve never lost control of the car once.
