Smallest "CRUISE SHIP" Cabin I Have Ever Seen - Colorline Fantasy Ferry to Oslo

- Most cruise ship cabins include a bed, 2 nightstands, a sitting area, and a closet... not this one! But, the Colorline Fantasy is not technically a cruise ship so I guess that makes it ok? Check out this tiny cabin for the ferry ride from Kiel, Germany to Oslo, Norway.

The wooden thing is indeed a bed rail. If you need a second, you can ask for one at the reception desk.
As for bringing food and drink - as far as I know the crew only really cares if you make a mess or drink enough alcohol to turn yourself into a problem. The company wants you to buy food and drink on board because that's where they make the money, but the actual crew members will look the other way if you have ordinary snacks or non-alcoholic drinks.
You traveled in a standard outside cabin. It must be mentioned that there are also much larger and better cabins on board, up to the Color Suite of 24 m2. And I would like to believe that 90% of those who travel with these ferries are only going from A to B - they are not on a cruise. As a retired Norwegian tourist bus driver, I have traveled there hundreds of times 🙂
I think it looks pretty nice for a ferry type of cruise.
It's not a cruise, it's a ferry. You are only on it for one night. It's quite remarkable that it is so well equipped.
Its actually world largest cruise ship with car deck
Did you bring your pet elephant??? That squeak is crazy😂😂😂
I laughed so hard at the squeaking. 🤣🤣🤣
Markus asked if I was sharing a cabin with Chewbacca.
The Color Fantasy is a cruiseferry, not a cruise ship, and plies the Oslo-Kiel route and no other, completing each way in several hours, not days. A cruiseferry combines the features of a cruise ship and a Ro-Pax ferry (roll-on/roll-off vessel with passenger cabins). Personally, I associate the term “cruises” with the itinerary rather than the accommodations so I find it quite a stretch to call an overnight sailing between 2 ports a “cruise.”
That's a cute little stateroom! Thanks for sharing.
That was so cool! 😎. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your travels.
This cabin reminds me of our very first cruise 36 years ago on Premiere Cruises or the The Big Red Boat. Disney's first cruise line. They were checking it out. They had Disney characters. It was 4 nights with a 3 day land at Disney parks. My very first cruise. I loved it then, but my husband didn't like it so it took me almost 15 years to go on another cruise, but only with my daughter. Now I travel mostly solo..I leave hubby at home.
I make those sounds the upper bunk made every time I climb out of bed!
Girl, you and me both! 😂
😂
Having recently spent a week in a solo inside cabin on P&O Azura, I'm confident in saying I'd easily spend a week in that cabin and enjoy it. It has its own window! The LUXURY!
Very cool Morgan! Thanks for sharing!😊
I've done it many times. It's cheap and fun if you take your own booze. We stay in oslo too.
That cabin is fascinating with all the real wood and hidden features, it looks nicer than some of the balcony cabins I've had on cruise ships.
Yes! I thought the same thing about the wood. Check out my cabin tour of the Royal Caribbean Brilliance of the Seas. Lots of nice woodwork.
It says Cruises right there on the side of the hull.
So to me that answers the Question.
Pretty clever use of space in that cabin.
Cheers Mate 🍻
2:53 “i know i am sorry” 😂😂😂
It sounded like it was in so much pain, right???
@ it sure did. I giggled out loud on a quiet plan. Thanks for the laugh. Love your videos.
Cool. I have been fascinated by Ferries for a few years. Especially the Japanese ones. They have everything from bed only cubbies to huge suites.
From what I've seen, many of the older cruise ships for German and other European lines have cabins just like this (the ones that come to mind are Phoenix Reisen's MS Amadea and MS Artania (which you might want to try at some point). A couch that turns into a bed and a fold-down bed in the wall, small TV, small bathroom etc. Some are nicer than this, some not. It's the old way of doing things, which has been replaced in time with what can objectively be considered better designs. Still perfectly good for short journeys like this imo.
Thanks Morgan. Great video and very informative. ❤
These cabins are the top class as far as European ferries are concerned. Ferries are a very different product than cruise ships, as they are designed for basically one night (with car ) to travel from A to B. And sometimes a "mini cruise" for a maximum of two nights.
There is a guy on here called Solo Travel Japan that does a lot of videos on the Japanese system of Ferry Travel along with other things. But in Japan ferry travel is common thing with several categories of room types and he does them all so you can see
It looks like a great cabin for an overnight trip. I took an overnight ferry in Greece from one of the distant islands to Athens, and there were 4 of us. We had 2 sets of bunks, and a small basin sink. Toilets & showers were "down the hall" from our 1st class cabin! (1977 time frame). We should have gone "luxury class", because that would give us our own bathroom. Travel was cheap back then!
In 1977? Wow, did Noah build that ship right after building the Ark? (I'm kidding!)
Organ, I’m on the Sun Princess at the moment and I feel our bathroom is smaller than the one on your ferry!
Wow! That’s tiny!
I've been on a ferry from Livorno to Sardegna in 2002. The cabin was about the same, it was an overnight voyage.
The noise that overhead bed made sounded like a constipated elephant.
"Thanks for watching. Please subscribe." I lost it. That is the first time I have seen a Pullman bed in action. Thank you! I have to say, the scene in your intro where you're trying to drink out of the water fountain is one of the best things I've seen. I actually look forward to it.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Did that ferry have a royal promenade?
Hi Morgan, I originally found your channel while searching for Costa Cruise reviews, but became a big fan of your videos and reviews in general. Your humor always brightens my day. I'd like to buy both your books, preferably as ebooks. I'm wondering if your books are available through any site other than Amazon, such as one that supports local bookstores. But I understand if this wasn't practical. Thanks!
I would love to have my books in actual bookstores, but I just don't think that's feasible for me. Sorry! Thanks for wanting to support small businesses, though!
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to imply a physical book at a brick-and-mortar store. I was thinking of an ebook through a website that links the purchase to a local bookstore where revenue is shared, like the Bookshop website does. But it might not be feasible that way either.
The sister ship Color Magic is a bit bigger and is the larget cruise ferry in the world.
Is there an Elephant?😂
Compare this to the cabins on the Oslo-Copenhagen car ferry, or the Kiel-Gothenburg car ferry. You are not on a cruise ship, YOU ARE ON AN OVERNIGHT FERRY.
Hello Captain Morgan, nice cabin tour. I have been binge watching another YouTubber who makes these types of trips between UK to mainland Europe or Scandinavia & Iceland. He is Steve Marsh and has a great library of travelling on a budget. Worth checking👏
Funny, Steve Narsh has just booked his first ever trip on a cruise ship, a trans Atlantic crossing on a Cunard ship.
Morgan’s first ferry and Steve’s first cruise
Maybe i missed it, but did this ferry have a room attendant available?
If there was a room attendant available, I missed them, too!
What do you mean? :) If you need something onboard this ferry, contact the receptiondesk and they will help you :)
Now, tell the truth Morgan... when you say the name of that other ferry do you sing .... "Ah Ah Ah Ah - Stena line, Stena line" ?
Whether it's a cruiser or whether it's a ferry it's Stehena Line, Stehena Line....
I took a box of red wine and water.
Can you imagine having to listen to that animal sounding squeak all night as your kid moved?
Horrible! But I think it just squeaks when you fold it up and down.
who knows the ship turn on the brother of margarita ville at sea
Cruisecabin? You get what you pay for.
