Tommy was voted Worlds Greatest Acustic Guitarist two years in a row by professional musicians. The man's skill is unmatched.
Tommy's sense of timing is amazing. He owns the stage when he's on it.
If you haven't already, as soon as you can, Get Thee to a Tommy Concert! Videos are fine but there is nothing like seeing him in concert. It is a truly incredible, fun, and joyful experience. He loves the audience....probably as much as they love him!
I could never come close to playing like Tommy does, but he never fails to make me pick up my guitar and give it a big hug!
There is Only One Tommy Emmanuel, Only One Tommy Emmanuel
Unbelievable! One man, one guitar and pure talent! I love Watching and listening to Tommy. 👏🏻👍🏻
There cannot be a better guitar player on this planet, he is sooooo good.
who ever didnt like this ...doesnt play guitar good enough to outclass this man ..he rocks
You can tell he's really having fun and spreading the fun to us!!!
Always a great performer and a class act!
how did that Guitar not just burst into flames?
He was at concert a few miles away and I didn't know who he is and missed out. Great folks at his office. The manager has been great to me. They are really very good and kind folk.
the Best in the world!
Brian Bachinger i take your point but were talking about different things i mean as an artist. Also there are lots of brilliant pickers out there that you never hear about. Being technically brilliant and creating timeless art are different things.
what can ya say unexplainable amazing, but then this is Tommy Emmanuel.
I used to have a jazz friend whose saying was ... ' too much for the bended mind ' ! Tommy is just incredible .
Speechless........
This youngster is pretty good, hopefully someone finds him he could go places
Had the honor of hearing him play live twice, always great to hear him....CGP (Certified Guitar Player)

This old man is SICK.

What can I say but brilliant....
Incredible timing and improvising.
Merle would approve.
Thanks for posting.
We were there! Cool night!!
25 people who have never picked up a guitar before,
amazing skills !
Wow…!!!
best acousticf finger picker ever.hands down...IMO
Always the best
that camera shaking when he strikes guitar make it look so epic :D
I clicked like with my thumb as that's the only thing I can do. Those 19 people who dislike this are thumbless.
thanks!
Yes!
The showmanship was so laid back with Travis and Thom Bresh. I wonder what Tommy is on, most of the time, for he sure can play subtly on occasion (as on that video of "Tahitian Skies").
all together boys, oh wait, its just me. merle would listen to u and go wow, that guys good.
awesome
yay!
Tommy and his guitar are one. And it's difficult to figure how that poor ol' gett-tar has survived those brutal attacks over the years ; )
where is the supporting band?...oh wait! not needed!.......Masterfull :)
His beat up guitar tells us what we're in for
Esse cara é a expressão violonística viva do Rock. Não existe igual. De outro planeta mesmo!
damn good too Phil.
Yaaahoouu !! the best !!!! Is it real ? Please Tommy, when in Tahiti ?
Simplesmente... EXTRAORDINÁRIO!
Nuthin' much you can say after that .. just upvote and move along I guess :)
OMG !!!!!
Pretty decent singer on top of his other obvious talents
I SAID DANG LIKE 20 TIMES DURING THE ENTIRE VIDEO.
Храни Господь тя, Томми!!!!💕👍💕💐
Amazing rhythm. 3:38 is just too good to be true!
Спасибо!!!! Классный гитарист!!!!😁🙋
8.13 "Mel Bay Book One" laughed so hard on that one
tommy the best busker in the world ;)
Nine pound hammer ... sixteen tons ... so much weight of wonder.. ;) BIG
Zseniális!
3:41 is soo damn funny :D
!!!!!
👏👏✨✨✨💕🎵✨🎸😁
Mark Knopfler's style is probably closer to Merle Travis than anyone else. MK never never mentions Mere as an influence though which I find interesting. He mention Brian Blake and others.
How does one get tickets to the 2012 Chet Atkins Tribute Concert? I've heard that Tommy plays each year at this event. Please tell me how to get tickets! Cheers and Thanks!
Sorry bro but I had to say DAMN!!!!
anybody know the name and the order of the songs and could tell me i would greatly appreciate this
Does anyone know what song this is ? at 2:42
Tommy is probably the greatest “guitar gymnast” alive but he is no where as near a “finger picking” genius as Merle Travis. That’s not a slam because Travis was and will always be the best at that style of guitar playing - he had more ability and skill using only his thumb and index finger than anyone before or after him.
What song is this?
whilst this was plaing i was pretty sure i could hear my guitar crying in the corner
what is the title of the song at 2.40?
Saturday Night Shuffle
3:39 LOL
What is the name of the song at 3:35?
Saturday Night Shuffle, check out my cover!
second song ??
+MOAISITOXX JHV (MOAISITO) Saturday Night Shuffle
What song does he play at 2:41?
"Saturday night shuffle"
The crazy thing is... Merle Travis only used his thumb and index finger.
Good grief...what the...good heavens....what the...where is my guitar so I can throw it in the trash. Lol
Tommy played it like -_-
and I watched it like o_0
Nice picking but too frantic for me Merle and Chet were so relaxed. Love Tommy but he sometimes gets carried away with speed for show off sake!
Yes, you hit it right on the head. Love Tommy though!!
Tommy is the musical embodiment of Hyperactivity Attention Deficit Disorder.
Tommy is _very_ relaxed. He couldn't be a more laid back and fun-loving performer-it just so happens that his musical personality has a muscular, virtuosic character, but he's true to himself on stage. Being influenced by Atkins and Travis shouldn't result in sounding just like them, and Tommy wouldn't be Tommy without those highly articulated runs and emphatically punctuated rhythms. He's a complete musician, and a legend in his own right.

I will venture an opinion of the causation of his desire to play faster or differently than someone else.
He is an artist who has an inner voice which calls him to interpret the song as he is drawn to do. Just as all notable artists do.
To postulate that he is just showing off I believe is perhaps partially true but I suspect that a more accurate explanation for his choices is that he does that which pleases his sensibilities of what the song suggests itself to be when focused through His musical vision and abilities. When an artist develops a song for his/her enjoyment or performance what else should they do other than what their sensibilities pull them to do?
I understand when individuals are not in agreement with an artistic choice. That is called musical taste. But to make judgements of the Source of their choices is highly problematic in my opinion.
We humans make these judgements all the time and more times than not the judgements more accurately describes the observers consciousness rather than the observed.
And I failed to omit... he, like everyone who chooses to work on a thing, makes decisions and choices which make the thing interesting and enjoyable to themselves.
Who would want to do that hard work and not make it interesting or fun or challenging for themselves? He follows his inner voice as all gifted artists does.
I don't mean to criticize others theories or strive to appear wise. I just don't think we all are acting from the same place. The universe is a mirror. We experience and judge things heavily tinted with our own experiences and capacity to grasp a given thing. More times than not we see ourselves in our judgements...
Bloody amateur LOL He is obviously an alien!
Too much esspreso drinking before the gig. Groove and vibe go out the door at this level of frenzy. Oh, Tommy's a genius, but this is too frentic. And way too much high end on the guitar.
keep him away from the microphone.
Tommy is a great player. His voice and dancing, meh.
