Her mom is savage for going and knocking on all the doors. Truly loved her daughter. Heartbreaking.
Actually most people think the mom was in on it when you look into the story and find more information about the mother that's why most people thought her mom was in on it if you actually research the story you'll see
@@tonytaylor8313 Could you explain? I don't see how her daughter drunkenly stumbling into a freezer could be her moms fault. Especially with how hard she was fighting everyone for the missing persons report and to find her.
To me it sounds like the police/hotel trying to shift blame again. My opinion is entirely based on this video though.
Yes in this case maybe slipping the staff a $100 to view the footage maybe would of helped. Stupid hotel is definitely responsible for her death
@@marileorube24 I wonder if that would've worked. That's a really smart idea. Never would've thought of that!

Everyone from Kanikas story (story #2) needs to be held accountable. Thats so outrageous, she could have totally been saved had it not been for the pure negligence of all the parties involved (obviously excluding her mother, my heart goes out to her).

@RainbowRissa96 That's what you got out of all of this? Even though they were trying to call her mom and all that at 3 in the morning? That is the dumbest thing i've ever read, in accordance with this case. They definitely should have taken her with them, because she was so fall down drunk. You can't trust drunk people to stay in one place.
Let me get this straight
Your friend is so intoxicated she can barely stand and u leave her alone in the lobby?
@AL Cats but they weren’t that drunk, kenneka was barely even able to walk or stand leaving her by herself wasn’t a good idea
That’s what I was thinking. Nothing like leaving your extremely vulnerable friend by herself, in a hotel lobby, in the middle of the night.

Story NO. 2...
never leave your intoxicated friend unsupervised
Just want to second this. My sister was drunk over here at my house, and she is a VERY obnoxious drunk. I love her, but it's true, and she has a drinking problem that she won't admit even to herself. It's incredibly frustrating, but she's my sister and I love her.
In late September, she was *wasted* and had gone sad drunk, was bawling everywhere. But we're a 21:00 household, period. Especially on a school night. So I started getting mad because she's claiming to try to find her shoes, but I kept catching her stealing more of my booze like she thought she was slick or something. Finally, she left the kitchen, so I hid the booze in my tool closet, behind the chainsaw.
Anyways, now she wants to sleep over and she trying to snuggle with me and my husband and I told her "NO" very firmly; my husband sleeps naked and he's incredibly modest. So finally get her home after more bullshit and my sister begging me 19 million times for another drink.
I wake up the next morn and my eldest texts me what's up with his cousins? None of them were in the bus. So I call my sister over and over with no answer. No answer to texts, either. So I get my blind cane and my shades and make my way through the woods to her house. Her (now) ex informs me that my 8 year old niece found her mother in a pool of blood. She'd slit her wrists, she even done it the right way and needed 24 staples. Ultimately she was ok, but they IVC'd her for nearly two weeks, and I tell you what, having 7 kids instead of just 3 is a master level lesson in patience lol
So yeah, don't leave your drunk friends/family alone, y'all.
or just dont get intoxicated
Story 2 is a clear example of police racism and the priority of the hotel management being profit over safety. Anyone who thinks the lesson should be "just don't get intoxicated" (ever? honestly...) should get a grip.
As the drunk friend.
Can confirm do not leave me alone
@@grammartrot1917 i think "police racism" is a stretch, it sounds more like general police negligence and dumbassery
I feel so bad for Kaneka’s mom. She was literally right there doing her due diligence, and that hotel and police failed her. That’s so tragic. The hotels lies cost her daughter her life 😢
It is astounding how fast the cops respond to a “suspicious person” but drag their feet when people go missing.
They are itching to use their guns but too lazy to find a missing person.
Can’t shoot at a missing person
I had a glass thrown at me, after asking a bar patron to leave after he had shouted derogatory comments at other patrons. I called the cops, they showed up 3 hours later and took my statement. Then 3 weeks later, our DJ was given a citation for breaking the noise ordinance so I requested the incident report, and they had a response time of 11 minutes after the 1 complaint call was placed. Hmmm
Wonder how much race may have had to do with it. Rich white girl goes missing, rich white dad gets to see the tape right away.
@@hotuish Not race necessarily, but US police will go to great lengths to avoid interaction with black Americans specifically.
I hate that the police and the hotel didn’t take Kanika’s mother seriously at all. I bet the situation could have been way better if they didn’t ignore and joke about her disappearance.
Who joked about it?
Her death was completely preventable had they just cooperated. I'm so sorry for that mom
@@kevinc233 I love how you've somehow managed to turn this tragedy against the victim. At the end of the day the hotel should've been way more co operative from the beginning. They had literally no reason at all to not be.

That means the hotel staff in some way were complicit.. They refused to help or at least review the footage when the mother says her daughter is MISSING and was last seen in the hotel....
What the hell kind of people are these fools in the world... I hope every institution pays attention to these videos and think about safety protocols in the future.
it was probably the hotel policy
@@randal3122 it may very well have been. As I said you are allowed, not necessarily required... And there are indeed reasons why you wouldn't want to disclose to every random knob in the lobby, but better discretion needs to be exercised in these scenarios.
@@retrokoh1507 totally agree. its so frustrating that people will refuse to do the right thing just because of standard policy. there are a lot of people in this country that will refuse, and its a lack of moral integrity

Why leave your intoxicated friend alone in the first place? Usually I'm watching over them like they're my child. Eyes always on them.
Because in the end, you are responsible for yourself and your actions. Kanneka bears no responsibility, right?
@@TheRoadhammer379 Okay and? She was already pissed drunk at that point, so what were the friends gonna do, make her un-drunk? They knew she could barely stand, they shoulda at least kept an eye on her.
Her friends left her in the lobby. While in hindsight, one of them should have stayed with her, it is understandable that at the time, it seemed reasonable to leave her alone.
That's a good point. Why didn't one of her friends stay with her while the other got her belongings? One could of just stayed in the lobby with her while the other got her purse.

Kaneka’s story is precisely why my friends and I always had one person be the sober buddy. If someone was getting too drunk, they would cut them off and stay with them until they sobered up enough, they could arrange transportation for someone who wanted to leave… bottom line, we took care of each other. I can’t believe her friends just left her there in that condition.
Why the hell did the cooking staff not go in that freezer the entire day Kanika is missing?! She shouldve been found at 6 AM when the cooks went in.
A late reply, but perhaps some newcomers might be interested - the kitchen was not in use at that time, because it was being renovated. The freezer, however, was still running as it was used as an extra storage for the new restaurant (that was a part of the hotel). The restaurant had its own freezer, so the spare one wasn't accessed very frequently.
It was a banquet kitchen that wasn't in use
The Keneeka Jenkins case has stuck with me as one of the worst to date. Her friends f*cking LEFT her, and took her car!! Arrive together, leave together - NO EXCUSES!! Rest in Peace Keneeka ❤️ 👼

That story about the girl in the freezer made me so frustrated. Her poor mother knew that something wasn’t right.
I really hope the poor woman sued the hell out of the cops and the hotel.
Unfortunately even if she did that I doubt it would have gone anywhere. The hotel refusing to show cameras is actually extremely common protocol designed to protect privacy of guests. Even with police asking usual protocol is to tell the police no without a warrant or proof of investigation.
Austin Manly I did some research on the case, and it said she took the hotel to court, but it wasn’t clear on if she won, or if lost more than just the claim that someone could have locked her kid in the freezer
@@lexijeffrey6384 cool. I hope she woke up the local area to the stupidity of the no show rule. In my opinion it's pretty stupid most places with cameras have that in there standard operating procedures. I mean police ask you to show them footage and as security I'm basically supposed to wave my finger at them and say nope. I hope something positive came of this.
@@austinmanly5478 - so if a cop is stalking his ex-wife or girlfriend, it's totally OK to show him videos without just cause?
That Heaven's Gate story is just so sad. I feel so bad for the people that believed what that man was saying. He was just weird.
He wasnt "just weird" he was a perverted psycho.
If they were not weird as well, they would not have been there to enter Heaven's Gate.

MrBallen also had cover the case of Burari Family here about 11 family members hanging suicide lead by one male mentally unstable family member. I couldn't slept for days after watching the footage of them hanging in their position at Reddit.
I can't imagine being a cop, or ANYONE involved in that situation, and not taking "My daughter is missing" seriously
yeah but you also have to think about how many calls they get a day from mothers crying their child is missing and in reality their child ran away to start over or theyre at their bf/gf house thinking their parents wont find out or sneak out to parties etc. if they had a search everytime a child went "missing" it would be a waste of time and money
@@jessikaponce6322 Fuck off with that. They should treat every call as serious. If their wrong, nothing changes. If their right, they save a life. Police departments get BILLIONS to do bare minimum. They can afford tanks but no look into a missing person? They just dont care.
i hate to say it man… but the truth is… it’s an old story man - racism is sickening and this is a perfect example of. think had she been white the hotel staff would have reacted the same way? assuming no foul play. granted if there WAS foul play then they couldn’t show the tapes or they would have been found out. all in all it’s just horrible.
@@jessikaponce6322 tbh the police just dick around not doing much so for them to review the footage like she asked is not too much to ask and could have saved her kids life. Maybe the mum just needed to try different tacts and try different police until it worked. Very sad
@@Bubba_Fett_ I think that it is possible, that they would have reacted the same way.
The Night shift is normally smaller then the day shift. On a Friday night, when there was also a party in the hotel, it's likely that they had a busy shift. Looking through the footage would for them been extra work. If not motivated enough, they would have left that for the day shift. And they most certainly wouldn't have assumed that she would walk down into a freezer, rather that she was sleeping off her Hangover, or meet up with a friend or boyfriend.
The thing i can't understand though is how her friends could leave her alone. She looks dead drunk on the footage. If she was a friend of mine, i would never have left her alone in such a state in a hotel lobby. We would have thought of a way to take her home or to let her sleep it off in a secure place
The girl walking into the freezer made me extremely sad. You just want to stop her as she's stumbling along. Her mother was probably devastated. They could have saved her.

I have been that drunk and alone. Ended up in the wrong hotel down the beach a ways from mine. Somehow made it to my room
I did a project on heavens gates in high school for my murders, mayhem, and mysteries class. I watched all their videos, and even browsed their website that’s still up. I had chills the whole time going through everything.
Why did you do a project on the Heaven's Gate cult?
False religions, false cults and false faiths upset me for some reason. Two
good friends, both Christian, one Protestant, the other Catholic, tried to convert
me but the Mother of my children is Jewish, presenting a big problem.
At the time, I was later to find out in a week, Marshall Applewhite filmed his
death video. I wrote eight pages frantically on why I could not convert by
faith alone. Stepping out on my front porch and looking to the sky, there was
a figure of a 'Q' in the clouds. It seemed like a hundred thoughts went through
my mind, then came a spiritual calmness with the idea, "It is O.K. to question
as long as you respect all faiths."
I searched the Old and New Testaments then searched my dictionary for
the perfect words. Then I thought, "What if the figure 'Q' was formed all the
time in the clouds but just never noticed it?"
45 minutes had passed. Then I looked in the direction of San Diego and
a second 'Q' cloud configuration had formed, this time more perfectly. Only
once again have I witnessed a 'Q' sign but that was for a brief instant on
May 10 when a Christian friend was skeptical of my sightings. On May
10 a former member of the cult committed suicide in Texas.
While the Heaven's Gate cult didn't force mass suicide like Jim Jones
did, Applewhite had a tremendous influence over his victims. In 1995,
as a cab driver, I picked up Terry Nichols, one of the Oklahoma City
Bombers and he believed an asteroid would strike the Earth, that our
government knew about it and was lying to us. Doomsday or the "End
of Days" comes from the Book of Revelation and devout Bible scholars have
proven it is a fraud, not written by John a disciple of Jesus but by another
as propaganda against Nero whose name in Greek equals #666.
It was either Terry Nichols or Tim McVeigh who was influenced by
some of Marshall Applewhite's writings. Waco, which prompted the
Oklahoma City Bombing by McVeigh was in Texas, not far from where
Applewhite was from.
I have a photograph of a UFO dated March 14 , 1954. I am into coincidences
in history. Galello died January 8, Stephen Hawking was born on that date and
died March 14, the same date as when Albert Einstein was born. I was born
December 25 under similar circumstances as Sir Isaac Newton.
The terrorist Terry Nichols was born on April Fools Day, 1955. I do not
believe in an accidental Universe like most atheists, whom I hate.

Kaneka's story teaches us 4 things: do not get so drunk that you don't know where you are or what you are doing; don't leave drunk friends alone; if anyone is concern about the whereabouts of their friends, family members, go ahead and help them if your are a staff member, give them all video tapes; and police needs to do a better job of helping concern parents with their kids, especially if it's been more than a whole night with no contact.
She was super wasted and confused. That was a chilling story
I still don’t understand why alll of her friends had to go upstairs to get the phone and keys. Not one single person thought to stay with the person who can’t even stand on their own? I have said it once and will say it again, kanekas friends let her die
Yeah I don’t get that either. Someone should’ve stayed with her. A true friend would’ve never leave you alone in that condition. This makes me really sad and angry at the same time. Those friends will live the rest of their lives knowing their the reason she is gone.
A true friend who was worried when they lose their friend in that state wouldn't lie about her being drunk either. If you were seriously worried you'd be honest in spite of the trouble you'd be in for drinking
they probably wanted to snif some dope alone

The most troubling thing about the second story is that the mother tried hard to save her daughter and possibly could have but was dismissed. All it would have taken was for one other person to actually care and her daughter would have been saved.
Wish I’d been working there. I’d have helped her review footage and rounded up help. No way would I ever be dismissive of a missing person...drunk or sober.

@@afsharpolomonty9036 I was thinking the same thing. If her mother knew that they just didn't want to help her, her mother could have played the racist angle and got the media involved somehow. The mother could have put them out of business on that alone. I'd welcome it. Honestly, the hotel is very suspicious. Shady stuff happens in these places all the time.
Zacktv from Chicago covered this case and got some information that freaked him out enough to stop covering the case. I believe the hotel had something to do with it. Seems totally legit, even Zack giggles when she says "they be watching me".

Since when white America has every cared about a person of color. As a white woman it disgusts me.
If they didn't want to show her the footage because of security and stuff, they could have reviewd it themselves and knew where she was. They were just assholes
To be clear here they only talked to the concierge at the main counter, so its not the entire staffs fault but i get your point. As for the police, im iffy on this one honestly. A teenage girl was at a party and got separated from her friends. Her friends claim they werent drinking so the girl SHOULD be of relatively sound mind... not really an emergency here. Oh we dont see her leave the hotel anywhere either? and we can see all the doors? ok so shes still in the building. Shes probably at another friends room or something she will turn up. ITs not stellar police work but i can see that as logical. NOW if the staff had given them ALL the damn footage they might have been able to save her

The second story pissed me off, that poor mother was just trying to find her daughter. But the selfish hotel owners won't let her see the footage, if they would of. She would of been found and safe.
The thing that really ticked me off is that they could have shown her the footage BUT the hotel acted like it was some super secret area 51 crap.
I don't know why the hotel wouldn't personally look at the security camara footage. Just for their own liability.
I can't imagine being her poor Mother. Basically begging for help and finding none.
Well, maybe they knew something was up, and that's why they didn't show the footage
There are numerous other similar incidents that have happened at this same hotel.

Nah, on story 2 there was footage about what really happened to her in the room before her death. She was in a room with her few friends who brought some guys to the "party". The guys took her in the bathroom and the other girls were recording where they were sitting saying "she is screaming so turn the music up". All of them had something to do with her death. 😢

Two years later, I'm going to agree with many of you. As someone who constantly watches true crime videos on UA-cam, this isn't the first time a woman has been left by friends and something horrific happens to them.
Seeing Kinika stumble around like that is so infuriating. Where is literally ANYONE?
I live about 30 mins away from Bridgend. I remember this story being on the Welsh online news. It was terrifying. Lots of little villages in and around most parts of Wales used to be so safe. In fact, safe enough that we never used to lock our doors during the day, only locking them before bed. Just goes to show that society is changing. We're not even safe in our own homes anymore! Not safe in the places we grew up and the communities we live in as adults. So frightening.
Thank you, Mr Ballen, for all your hard work in bringing all these stories you cover to people's attention. I, for one, am very grateful.

Yes, a lot of bad decisions lead her to that unfortunate position but an act of kindness on their part would have saved a life and maybe help that family reflect on those bad decisions.
You know what's also very strange? The fact that she wandered the hallways in that condition, for about an hour and supposedly not one person saw her. Not even security? One time we saved a girl cause this guy one of our friends sort of knew gave about 5 of us girls a ride home to my place. We were getting out and he tried to keep the really intoxicated girl in his van saying he knew her and was taking her to her place. She was passed out in the front seat and he even held onto her arm as we got her out trying to pull her back in. We said no and the four of us girls carried her in the house. Turns out she didn't even know who the guy was who gave us a ride home the night before and the friend who sort of knew the guy....the guy was a friend of a friend of her cousin and she barely knew who he was. It was crazy and we were glad we stuck together. We all commented how he tried so hard to keep our friend in the van...never saw him around again when we went to parties. the big thing about keneika jenkins story is that her family heavily believes that foul play was involved. her sister worked in a school cafeteria and said the freezer door was very very heavy, much too heavy for a heavily intoxicated person to open and close. it’s also been pointed out by people and her family that the surveillance camera recordings make it look like she is following the instructions of a person, guiding her to the basement and ultimately the kitchen, a place she normally wouldn’t have access too
Well that's just stupid.
And freezer doors are all different apparently because I've seen some that were just like regular doors and others where it's heavy but you don't need to be a weight lifting champion to open.

Very sad about Kenika Jenkins's death. I feel for her mother, family and friends. A couple of weeks ago, late at night, I walked into my local 7/11. After waiting for a few minutes for someone to attend to the register, I walked to the back of the store calling out to see if anyone was there. I didn't hear anything at first, so I turned to leave. Then I heard frantic knocking from inside the drinks refrigerator, opened the drinks door whereupon the employee said he was trapped and asked me to come around to where the door is and let him out. I did. He'd been stuck there for 45 minutes! Seems like those walk-in refrigerators should be made with doors that can be opened from inside.
100% agree. Like what would the argument even be for not doing that? The food will escape?
Same thing happened to me when I was a manager at a convenience store. I was in the cooler/freezer stocking drinks and frozen item and somehow something had fallen in front of the door to get in or out and I could only open the door an inch. This was super early in the morning and no one came in for like 30 minutes and I was in a T-shirt & shorts and I was freezing! @Wiccan Woman Oh wow, really? I've heard stuff on this case before, but I never knew the freezer was meant to be unplugged. But why would they want to let something like this happen? It's just so heartless.

This was a case that intrigued me. I thought at first she was just really drunk and walked into the freezer. But then I took a second look. How could someone be that drunk after a couple drinks? Someone maybe drugged her. Also in the background of one of her friends videos it sounds like someone being raped, there’s lots of weird things around this case, to many. This leads me to the conclusion that she was murdered for reasons unknown at this moment. Police need to take another look at this.
It looked like that was an unused extra kitchen, since it's a big hotel, having 2 or more kitchen rooms are common. From the looks of it that the room was too clean and no kitchen tools anywhere proves it was unused for a while.

the case of the teenage girl freezing to death in the hotel is just a series of wrong decisions mixed with a lack of professionalism. had her 2 friends not left her alone she wouldn't have died, had the hotel shown the footage she could've survived, had the police took her mother seriously, she possibly could've survived
How tf does hotel know who the mother is? Just cus she claims she wanna see the footage cus of her daughter, doesn't mean she is telling the truth. She could be wanting to see video footage from 10 other reasons.. adulatory, stocking, spying.. I mean who tf knows. That is why they told her they need something OFFICIAL, like cops, or paper from cops saying daughter is missing. Hotel didn't do a thing wrong. Poor parenthood and poor friends did.
Her friends should not have left her. You come to the party together, you leave together. Also, since she may have been drugged, her friends should have stuck with her. If I thought my friend was suddenly acting strange like they were under the influence of something, I would have tried to help them in some way. That is a wrongful death suit if I've ever seen one.
Prayers and love to her family. I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to know that, had they just looked at the camera footage, they could have saved her daughter.
That's absolutely an unintentional manslaughter charge.
I disagree. She wasn't really a missing person. She was a drunk girl acting as an independent person. She could have been sleeping with someone or walked to Denny's. She just wasn't truly missing. The mother should have stressed the fact that she was drunk and alone maybe even lie and say she is underage.
@@jackmiddleton2080 but she wasnt tho
@@jackmiddleton2080 your logic is stupid. Youre making up garbage to avoid looking at the facts.
@@khatdragon7694 What did I make up?
the 6:1 peanut butter to jelly ratio in the intro slayed me 🤣
Always a killer channel!!! I’m revisiting some of your older videos. Love them!
That Keneeka Johnson case is so sad. I worked at 2 different hotels many years ago. I understand about privacy but also if someone is missing and the mother came in frantic I cannot imagine not helping her or looking through the tapes myself. God only knows what could have been happening to her. Every hour counts when someone is missing.
For real this make me think it's only an urban legends. How the hell does the employee does not check it himself ? There's no need to show the mom the footage when you know what to look for.
It’s KennekaJenkins And Kendrick Johnson right??
You definitely couldn't show anyone the security footage regardless of how you feel about it. It's a privacy issue and hotel policy for a reason. It would be a nightmare if people found out that a desk clerk just allowed whoever to view security footage- all it would take is for anyone to claim "missing person" and you'd have to show them because "you let that one lady look". There's a reason hotels don't disclose who is in the hotel to random people. As for looking yourself- that's if you had access yourself. If you've worked at hotels then you know regular desk clerks have no authority and their job doesn't include security. Depending on the setup, you might be able to see the current camera view but not be able to review old footage. That's something usually a manager has to do.
Why install a security camera if you’re not going to review the footage in an emergency. There is ZERO reason for the mom to have been denied. This happened on their property.
Tbh, i feel like this has part racial motivation. How many times have we seen Police not take it seriously when POC go missing and that leads to preventable death. Call me cynical, but this wouldnt have happened if the missing girl was white as it wouldve been investigated right away
I’ve never had a desire to just sit there and listen to somebody tell me a story. There is something about you and your delivery brother.
Well then you actually are basically not human? Every one of us and our ancestors has been telling stories since the beginning of time. So kind of Really weird?
@justified hate sadly 32 other idiots agreed. I am losing so much faith in humanity sometimes lol
@@jakemullins5806 its not that deep man. You have multiple negative comments on several other comments people made. Relax man. He's just saying the guy is a great story teller. Tone, presentation, humor, and just overall delivery. I can tell a story all day long. Doesn't mean the person on the other end had the desire to listen. Relax
