How can they be eligible for parole so soon? This was a brutal, premeditated murder. They should never be allowed out, ever. Sentences for cases like this are too lenient.

Woman/girls get shorter sentences for crimes like these, although such violence is rare from woman/girls when it does happen the courts tend to have mercy upon them. They are also much more lenient towards minors.

It's punishment for one murder. So there's a chance that they might not do it again, maybe they'll realise their mistakes after being in prison for a couple of year. That's their thinking. Plus they were minors when they did it. So 30 years to life seems pretty decent.

@@jameseast294 Young and dumb? Of course we all were at one point. But there's a big difference between sneaking out of the house to go drink/smoke with your friends, and murdering someone who considered you a best friend with a kill kit ready to go in your trunk. Call me whatever insult you'd like, but to me, some crimes outweigh that perceived notion of young innocence/ignorance.

the saddest part is every couple years the poor parents will have to continually be put through hell and attend parole hearings and stress of reliving it over and over. Justice system needs to have much stricter limits parole hearings for the victims families. the parents have a life sentence and these vicious, sociopaths get to spend their lives having every comfort the world offers prisoners now. Internet, ability to marry in prison and have conjugal visits, get medical care, get college degrees, great health care, tv and cable. Things many hardworking decent people cannot have. Prison to me means you lose all of life's privileges and comforts. You get 3 bland meals, hour of daylight, work yourself non stop, and can only check out a book occasionally for good behavior. But no these vile people are allowed to write books, profit, terrorize their victims from prison and live a better life than they did on the outside.

I feel like I avoided a similar situation once in my life. I had 2 friends I was cool with but they had a friend who never liked me despite my best efforts, and one day they asked me to come over and hang out with them, but this third person who never liked me and was never nice me was being suspiciously nice and trying so hard to convince me to come over, but I denied the offer. A few months later for some reason I can't recall (I'm 25 now I was probably 17 or so then) we got into it on Instagram, she was being rude about my art and through messages she admitted to having mean intentions that day. She said they were all going to basically make fun of me the entire time behind my back/to my face and I still to this day think they were planning something much worse. To this day I don't have many friends and I have no faith or trust in anyone I meet. I can't say for sure they'd murder me but still, if there are and teenagers reading this, don't feel so alone and willing to do anything to fit in with a friend group. The chances of you having any of these friends into adulthood are so so small, and it's okay to be a loner. Get yourself into art, movies, and other forms of healthy expression and know that one day you'll have the love and acceptance all people long for. Life is a journey and all these mean people are just lessons to take at face value. Xoxo
Also always love yourself enough to be okay with that bit of loneliness. You are valuable, you are strong, and you will have happiness in your life. 💓

She was mocking the police looking at her Twitter account. Wish Mr.Ballen talked about their social media, how Rachel broke down and went to the psychiatric hospital before confessing and then wiring herself up to get Shelia to confess (as she made a deal for a shorter sentence). How they had to be home schooled because rumors were going on about them at school and them being the ones who committed the crime, their “lesbian relationship” that was possibly the motive for the murder - that Skylar knew about. I found it it insane that also, Rachel went on a boat on a lake with her family and friends the next day and had pictures taken of her, and acted like everything was okay.

Sheila was a psychopathic narcissist and Rachel was just a manipulated pawn who was still in the love bombing phase and went along with whatever Sheila planned because she was her "bestie." It doesn't excuse Rachel's part in what was done to Skylar, but sociopaths do not have nervous breakdowns that lead to confessions of murder. And considering how little remorse Sheila exhibited during the trial indicates that she reveled in the attention and had no guilt whatsoever. Sociopaths can feel some moments of guilt, but psychopaths aren't capable of true remorse or empathy... they can mimic it very well but they don't experience it the same way most people do. Sociopaths have a better chance of responding well to therapy than psychopaths typically unless the affected party finds it absolutely necessary to change.

I graduated class of 2015 from UHS, same high school that this happened. This really was something that rocked everyone. I was apart of a Christian youth group called Young Life. Rachel was also part of Young Life. The entire time that Skylar was missing Rachel was still coming to Young Life meetups every Wednesday. And then one day she wasn’t there and soon after the news came out that she participated in the murder. And this group of 10 or 15 high schoolers including me just didn’t know how to react. It was just a very weird feeling that we had been hanging out with a murderer for months. We never had any reason to think that this pretty girl that we hung out with often, stabbed a girl to death. Still gives me chills to this day.

The fact that nobody figured out that was Sheila's car in that video is insane. That's such an easy thing to determine and as soon as her mother was told that they "dropped her off around midnight" I immediately suspected that was a lie. They put glue on my chair. More mental abuse than anything because I was shy, naive and really wanted to have a friend. My parents have a lot of mental problems so I didn't have anyone to go to. So you get influenced much easier when you are alone, to put up with the abuse. The biggest thing is that they try to keep you down. Thinking bad of yourself. So anyone reading this, accept yourself first. Then you don't need anyone to tell you that you matter. Matter to you.

Never ever ignore that gut instinct/feeling. Millions of years of evolution have developed certain senses to help keep us safe. The problem is people just don't seem to understand that there are predators in human bodies all around us all the time and ignore that instinctual feeling

Welcome to what it is like in the 2023 dating world for a man. There were women who made up allegations just like to "get rid of him" and I faced serious time. Luckily, their story came apart within 15 minutes of court.
Moral of the story? In 2023, don't trust any woman if you love your life.

@@parecearabeas an LGBTQ+ person, being outed is absolutely terrible and can leave you homeless, murdered, thrown out of a community, ECT. But regardless, murdering someone who wants to out you is way too far. The possibility of being shamed and hurt by others is in no way compared to personally murdering someone you called a friend and lying to their parents. That's a whole level of fucked up

There's a dozen or so people just waiting on them to get parole. As I commented above, parole is the equivalent to a death sentence for both of them. Brutally murdering someone's loved one/family member isn't easily forgotten and 10 years isn't long enough to lose the desire for revenge of something like that.
