The Rashomon effect, where individuals give significantly different but equally believable accounts of the same event, is a storytelling and writing method in cinema.
The term is derived from the 1950 Japanese film Rashomon.
While most films at the time had a clear ending, the ending of Rashomon has no clear resolution.
The last scene is a man who walk away cradling a baby in his arms from Rashomon.
A man cradling a baby in his arms is the sketch of the ending that Isayama drew in the TV program(2018).

You i highly respect this. Feel however you want about the story. There is no single correct interpretation. If you think the ending was a masterpiece or terrible you're right either eay finally someone gets it lol

I love how you receptively say from your interpretation. Because from your view point all the claims you make are correct. I on the other hand have a completely different view….. that matches perfectly with the story and the message it’s trying to convey (too much to explain in a comment so I won’t sorry 😅 but in short is the complete opposite of yours ) Ofc at the end of the day it’s all just INTERPRETATION! We can use as much evidence as we want but it’s all on how you choose to use it and see it, all about perspective…. 😉 again…. Another reason why this show is so incredible and vast with the message and ways you can view it. But I respect your view and from the way you see it.

You're damn right. Ymir willing everything ruins all of the character development.

What u interpret as Eren giving up I interpreted as Eren letting go, a theme throughout the show mentioned is the idea of you can’t change anything if you can’t let something go which I feel is important to keep in mind

Also u said Eren kills 80 percent of humanity cus of Ymir I would argue it’s always been in his nature to kill his enemies if they take away his freedom, he gained the power so that’s what he did

There were a lot of things that I did like about in the end of the manga, like eren crying. I truly believe that it matches him and is consistent with his personality but I do agree ymir really ruins the ending, but I also think the creator likes the anime more than his manga. And with the help of his friends, I do think that he could tweak the ending where it might not be amazing. But it will hold up and make aot one of the best animes of all time.

TBH I would love the anime more than the manga too if I were him. Those OMD gear scenes are just too fun to watch, you can't do that in a manga.

    AOE is real.
Only Anime Eren has free will, all Eren's before him was just a way to confirm that the 100% rumbling is the only way forward. That's why Eren kept his titan marks in death, that's why he doesn't have the open eyes and mouth that every other dead character has and that's why the titan curse rebirths using the tree he's buried under. Isayama has mentioned big inspirations for AOT and they all have alternate endings. Muv Luv *Alternative,* The Mist, Life Is Strange and I Am Legend. Muv Luv being a big one.

Correct interpretation of the story on how the multiverse began. In this case Ymir is Adam's image of Eve or king fritz so what mikasa and eren did was prove to them that they could have loved each other if only Adam's vision had the correct timing. Ymir who is the reincarnation of Mikasa and Eren's daughter but from the beginning of space time singularity.

I would be fine if the ending is more like the mangas version, but it would be interesting if it went in a different direction.
(Also what's all these rumors of a movie coming out next spring? Can someone please explain this?)

Basically because of what it means to Isayama and the story to end in spring. A new beginning in spring, a new ending to end the cycle. It ends when it all started, this implies Aoe is a must in the movie. If you want to learn more, you should look into it, there are a bunch of theories about it

I'm not going to lie, I'd rather think that Season 4 of Shingeki no kyojin, never ever happened. The ending was so ASS, that it genuinely made me think that watching this series was an utter waste of time. Despite how well written, engaging and epic the first three seasons were, I can't really excuse the Autor for having a stroke at the very end.
I don't know about You guys, but I despite with all of my heart stories where the previous events, character arcs, stakes and losses DON'T MATTER by the end, just because somehow, someway, the Cycle of violence, loss or chaos just so happens repeats itself, and in the case of this series, in the most stupid and arbitrary way possible.
A lot of people might try to pull a snarky smart-ass comment like "Hey that's just like REAL LIFE, where the same mistakes are repeated over and over again". But honestly fuck that, this is fiction we are talking about, most people don't care if the series takes inspiration from life life events in one way or another, visual media is an escape from reality, period. The story of AOT was always been tragic and dark, but also surprisingly inspiring as well, as our protagonists always overcame the challenges and horrors they faced, always coming out on top, but not without major losses, trauma and scars... All I'm saying is that the series could have ended in much more positive or interesting note.
The sad thing here is that Shingeki no kyojin was something special, lightning in a bottle kind of special. And this absolute dog-shit ending just leaves a sour taste, and at least for me personally, ruins the rest of the series, because it was all pointless by the end.
Thank You Isayama for snorting 20kg of fentanyl just before ending the series, truly a based and sigma male power-move.
