Thanks for posting. People desperately need encouragement who are struggling daily with migraine consequences that impact all aspects of a person's life mentally, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually as they grapple with daily, relentless pain. Thanks so much! My daughter is being treated by Dr. Amirlak at the UT Southwestern in Dallas. She had the back nerve decompression surgery done 7 weeks ago and is going to have the front surgery done on June 26. We are counting the days... Blessings for your work SH

I've been hearing a minimum of 70% reduction in migraine days for the new monoclonal antibody cgrp meds.

Having seen some comments regarding specific training in peripheral nerve surgery, we agree that patients are best off seeing surgeons with special interests and training in migraine surgery. Dr. Lowenstein has gone the extra miles (literally). Following a successful career in general plastic surgery including significant experience in microvascular surgery, he has not only taken multiple courses in migraine surgery but flew weekly to train specifically in migraine surgery with Dr. Ziv Peled over the course of several months. Few other surgeons have had such specialty training in the specifics of migraine surgery and seeing someone with experience, we agree, matters. Dr. Lowenstein now has both a significant experience in primary migraine surgery as well as an increasing experience on secondary or revision migraine surgery, following primary operations from other peripheral nerve surgeons.

The cost of surgery is variable, depending on which nerves are involved. Please get in touch with the office to discuss your particular situation. Call 805-969-9004

I read that there were not any people with Hemiplegic Migraines in the study for amiovig. So do you think it would help people with HM.

That is a great question for your neurologist!

Thank you for your reply. That would be lovely if my Neuro knew the answer to this question. But I was the one to inform her of this info which I heard from different HM patients secondhand who did ask their Doctors, who discovered that HM patients where not included in this research. So I guess we shall see. Thanks again.

GitanaLotus sounds like you need a new neuro. I went to several before I found my wonderful, informed neuro. She is in the Dept of Peripheral Nerve at Georgetown University hospital in DC.
      Dr Maureen Moriarty.
She diagnosed me in one visit where 4 other neuros could not in years.
I’m so thankful for her knowledge and kindness.

Aimovig didn't worked for me. I mean the side effects were unbearable. My body was in constant pain. Didn't have migraines though, but I couldn't continue.
    I'm now on Ajovy.

      @@datsexycherry694u2nv i don't understand your question.
I started with Aimovig, was on it for 5 months, just over the placebo timeline. Didn't work. Then Ajovy, the same deal. Didn't work.
Now I'm on Emgality. It works.
Happily, i live in Norway. I'm disabled due to migraines. I have cluster migraines and suicide migraines.
You have to test your CGRP for at least 5 months. For the first time user, it needs time to accumulate in your body.
I had also terrible migraines right after the very first injection.
Unfortunately for me, the only thing that will help is either the complete mapping of the human brain, so they can find a cure for this damn thing. Or, pacemaker for the brain.
In my country, CGRP is free.

Nice video doc taking the initiative to educate masses on breakthrough innovation happening in medicine.
Just a small error Amovig is a Novartis product not Amigen

    • @videoplasticsurgery
      @videoplasticsurgery 6 років тому +1

It is a joint venture but you are correct that technically Novartis did develop the drug- thanks for the comment!

Honestly surgery scares me. I was in a migraine FB group of migraine surgery and many people did not get better and some got severely worse for life.

That has certainly not been our experience, we have yet to have a patient not have a significant improvement following surgery.

Cause me outrageous constipation for three days. I was suffering until I had three bottles of prune juice .. You have to take this for three months before you get any relief from your migraine than every month. $600 for each shot . I did only one. Not good for me. Everyone has different reactions.
