Thanks Mark. Looks a lovely bike and been waiting to see a review on it, got to say I’m slightly disappointed in the pricing compared to the Interceptor given that it’s missing a centre stand and still not tubeless. Shame they have gone for stickers on the tank rather than the lovely paintwork on the other models as well. I almost bought a Shotgun but was holding off to see what this was like, not ruling it out at all!

A great looking bike at any price and the fact that it's such good value makes it a very appealing proposition for those in the market for a retro scrambler. An enjoyable and enthusiastically presented review as always. Cheers. 👍
Nice review, I had a good look at these at the NEC, and I think they look much better in person than photos. I think its my current favourite RE at the moment.
I sat on one at the dealer. It did feel like pretty stiff suspension. I would be surprised if that changed over time. Seat was pretty firm too. Would prefer analog gages like the interceptor. Despite those cons, an absolutely beautiful bike.
As the owner of an Interceptor I have to say had this been available when I bought it I might have gone for the bear instead. Nice one RE again and good review as always Mark.👍
You really have to admire RE for the way they can market and manufacturer a bike as good as that for it's price. They seem to get things right whereas the likes of BSA, who promise us a similar product, just seem to make a mess of it with deliveries going out to mid summer, with luck, and that's just to late.
Brilliant review , had this at the top of my list since I first saw its release but disappointed it's only available in three colourways. The two I was trying to decide between neither seem to be available 😢 I'm guessing it was the American market that gets the five options
Another great review Mark! Can’t decide between one of these or a Shotgun! I’ve tested the Shotgun and loved it; seat height might be more manageable on that as I’ve a 30” inside leg like you. But the Bear is lighter, has the fancy clock and is better looking (imo) although like others have said, I wish they were bringing all the colour options to the UK (Wild Honey or Boardwalk White would be my first two choices)
As an Orange Crush Interceptor owner that's just crossed 5000km I can see why you like this Bear , the engines and gearbox's on these are top knotch in all ways . I like the look of this , but I love my Interceptor too much to consider a Bear . Well done on another great review and RE deserve to sell many of these , imagine if there were these 30 years ago for this price , when I started riding ,,, heaven !
G'day Mark, l have had my 650 Royal Enfield Interceptor for three you now and the bike is out of warranty with 30,000 km on the clock with trouble free and fairly hard riding, so l have no dought this bike from RE will be just a reliable, l don't think l will get ride of my current RE but buying another is on the cards, great review, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
Thanks for the review. I think the bike looks great with spoked wheels and the classic styling. I thought that the previewed colour schemes included black and yellow that reminded me of the Triumph 750 Tiger Trail.
I have the exact same colour scheme and the bike looks amazing. Clocked 1000 kms as of today. 1. Seat height is for tall people (I am almost tip toeing at 5'10'') 2. Engine and gear shifts are highly refined 3. love the slightly lean forward handlebar position 4. The suspension is stiff for sure and there are no adjustable options 5. It just screams on tarmac and highways 6. Don't take it for off roading
I was going to complain about why you rode it on such dull roads and why you didn't go up into the hills and mountain twisties like we usually do, and then I saw that you are in Poole, where my family live 😅. I prefer living near Barcelona for biking but yes, this is the only RE I'd buy, but only with the green frame. It VERY expensive new, so I'll wait a few years to get one 2nd hand. Well done Mark. Shame you didn't get to try it on any hills-twisties or gravel for an all round sum up. Yes I've heard in particular that the rear damping is rather stiff. First UK reviewer, well done. I guess you were running it in for them. Only just bought my Interceptor from Poole Moto, so won’t be changing yet, but looks like a great upgrade.
Hats off to RE design and product strategy. They really tap into traditional/modern looks with great attention to detail at a reasonable price. Great looking bike, especially the green frame version. A shame about the center stand (the lack of it, RE are usually better than that). Hello mark, am I being to cautious with my super meteor not wanting to take it past 60mph with just 365miles on clock, as I saw you going up to 70mph on I assume wasn’t run in bear 🤔
Hi Gary the key critical thing with running in is to not sit in one gear at a set speed ... Lots of gear changes and free revving.... Not thrashing is the secret... I've run in a 100 bikes successfully this way ... Modern engines are built with way tighter tolerances than years ago . Just ride normally is the way to go .. build it all up and vary the speed ... The 650 engine is low revving anyway a bit of 5 k rpm when running in won't hurt it all all :) Best wishes mark
