❤ Hi Ann, i think your channel really deserves more likes, because your work is fabulous and your creativity is infinite. In this video, the last one (avocado) is my favorite, but i also liked the second one in black and white. A big kiss and thank you for sharing her talent with the world. With love, from Portugal ❤
Hugs to you Vanessa!! that is so sweet. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching. Cheers to you in Portugal!!! How exciting. Love from Florida 🙂. Actually Jim's favorite is also the avacado vase. I wondered which one people would be the favorite. 🙂
Hi Ali!! Thanks so much. Im glad you like them. Actually Jim's favorite was also the avacado gingko vase. What is funny is that I thought the favorite would be the black/white one or the butterfly, haha. But I have had more comments on the gingko vase. Cheers to you!
Hi Ann, just a little caution with the slip over the underglaze. While it may be okay on your beautiful pieces here, sometimes when you add slip over underglaze you will get cracking or flaking off of the slip. Really enjoy your videos btw. Underglaze over slip is fine, but not generally the other way around. I hope no offence is taken, they are truly beautiful works of art.
Hi Tegan. Thanks for the tip. You do need to be aware of that. Thanks for the reminder. What I have found is that when I am doing smaller additions like just dots, I have never had a problem with any flaking or cracking. Now if I were to put a wide swath of slip over the underglaze I would need to be more careful. If my piece is still leather hard and I let the slip dry slowly (dont try and speed it up by blow drying it or something) then I have a havent had a problem. If the clay is bone dry and I tried to add a wide swatch of slip, it gets more tricky. I dont take any offense. Actually if I were doing a longer video tutorial, I would add a lot more tips and "bewares" for sure but as it is, a ten minute video seems to be the limit that people will watch so I have to try and just give what i think is the best tips and cross my fingers that I have given enough info. Cheers to you.
Hello Ann. Beautiful ideas for projects with dots! I would like to know if, on the two first pieces you put the clear glaze over it, before doing the brisk fire. I am a beginner... and big fan of your videos 😊. Thank you in advance for your comments. Thick Ramírez.
Hey Deep, actually if I am just adding "dots" of slip, it isnt really as much of a problem. I just let it dry naturally. (it dries pretty quickly on the clay) and I dont seem to have any problem with cracking or flaking off in little bits like "dots". Im not sure if it is because i am using porcelain as the slip or if it is just that the shrinkage of the slip is not as big of a factor when you are adding just such small amounts?? Now, if I were adding large swaths of slip over the surface I would definitely have to keep the hair dryer off of it or there would be some cracking...but if the clay underneath was still leather hard, and the underglaze was freshly put on (lot totally rock hard dry) and then I added a wide swaths of slip, I usually dont have a problem with jsut letting it dry. I hope this helps.
@@deepashtray5605 That is a possible. The underglaze would rewet the clay and give the slip a new layer of moisture to draw from and dry a bit slower and ...together. Interesting. I hadnt thought of that. Good thinking.
Hi Evy. Great thinking. I didnt have any white underglaze, haha. I also like to show people that they can improvise with resources they have available in their studio already instead of having to go out and purchase supplies. Great thinking though. If you have it, go for it! Cheers.
That red and white piece was stunning !
Thank you for making a process so easy to understand!
Hi Deborah. It is totally. my pleasure. Thanks so much for watching.

I wait till AFTER bisque firing to put any clear glaze on. Gook luck to you!
What is your drying process with the green pieces? I'm guessing with all those little dots of slip it should be kind of slow.

@@annruel1982 Thank you. The nature of underglaze might also help to act like a glue. Your creativity is off the charts.

Can I add color with underglaze to the slip so the dots would be colored?
Just to explain, I want to achieve an effect of raised black dots
Why not use white underglaze?
