Hey everyone! Not sure why my replies are not showing up…as you know I try to reply to questions and comments…hang in there, we’re looking into it! Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much you are the best. Your videos are very helpful. I just want to make 3 ceramic or porcelain flower buzzes with some traditional drawing and designs under the glaze. Can you make a video about how to make that easily at home?
This is sooo exciting! I just love these!! I love the way you made the template for the vases as well!! Is the paper you use a special kind of paper? Is it newsprint? Thanks as always Anne.
Hi Kris. We do have a video called Slip Trailing Made Easy where we show you how to make the slip. Use the search bar to find it. Thanks for watching!!
Aww...thanks so much for supporting our videos. You are so sweet. And dont forget that your donation makes you one of the newest members of our Little Street Pottery Research Facility Team. Hi Gilly. Actually I didnt use clear glaze. I left the red clay unglazed. The only glaze I gave them was a solid coat of glaze on the inside and then I brushed a solid white liner glaze that matched my porcelain clay over the white parts of the jugs avoiding brushing over the birds. Give it a go. It is a lot of fun.
Hi Alison. Sorry if that was confusing. Yes, I waited until the piece was leather hard before applying the slips and the underglaze. You want the clay of the jug thirsty enough to apply the slip (in other words, dry enough so it will absorb the slip onto the surface), but not bone dry so that the slip dries too fast, shrinks and cracks off. One other tip is to apply the slip in thin layers and let it dry in between. If you apply it too thick, there is also a tendency for the slip to eventually crack. Good luck.
Is it okay to use white porcelain slip on red stoneware or red stoneware slip on white porcelain? I remember hearing that mixing porcelain and stoneware in projects can be a problem, but I can't remember why. Thank you!
Hi Kat. I remember hearing that too. I think a lot of it has to do with the difference in shrinkage in the clays. My porcelain shrinks about 14% which is a lot more than some other clays. This is the first time I have bought this clay, so I took a chance on it as I liked the color. Im guessing the red clay doesnt shrink as much as the porcelain. To help with that problem, I put the slip on when the porcelain was leather hard (and vice versa when the white went on the red) plus I coated them with thin layers and let them dry in between coats. That seemed to help. I didnt get any cracking even when fired to around cone 6.
Hey Donna. Thanks for watching and nice to meet you. I am always giving my templates and patterns away for free so no worries there. If you look under the video at the description section, you will see a link to the bird templates on the Imgur site. Do you see it? Again thanks for watching.
Hi Mary Ann. I was having the very same issue. Im thinking that this is a UA-cam issue. I was just talking to Jim about that too. I click on the replies but they dont pop up.
@@annruel1982 That seems bizarre; we can talk this way, but not online with You Tube. It's nice to see the answers to people's questions, but I guess they don't want us doing that anymore. Could have something to do with all the bots that are around now???

Ah thats so fab, thank you for sharing!❤ Im going to give this a go myself this week. Is the clear glaze just brushed on?

I'm assuming you are applying onto leather hard clay but It's not completely clear from the video so I'm just checking?

Hi Dianna. Actually our next video I am making styrofoam molds for hand building with different types of styrofoam. Stay tuned 🙂

Anne, new to your site, where is the description portion so I can purchase decals? Donna from Leland

The description is just below the video on the UA-cam page. They are free! Enjoy!
But porcelain fires at a much higher temp than red clay. How did the red clay not melt in the kiln?
WHY CAN'T WE EVER SEE THE REPLIES?????

That’s really odd. I wonder as well.
Do you actually open the app after you click the link in Facebook?
