Wow.. I used to have a 1985 Audi GT Coupe with the same type of engine replaced the injectors the same way as you did "Real pain", but I don't remember having to remove or seeing plastic cones in each injector hole that you showed... Either way, keep up the great work we enjoy watching fellow enthusiasts.
hey man perhaps you could help me out. going through the same problem with my GT. i have only the upper seal and no "cones" and im not sure how the injectors are supposed to hold in place as they sit so loosely.
Wow excellent video! I have an 87' 4000 cs quattro that I'm just now starting to refurbish and this is extremely helpful and inspirational- subscribed Thanks mate
MAN that thing sounds amazing! When do you hear an engine from the open engine bay that sounds this good?! Audi and Volvo inline 5’s have the best sounding engines 🔥
Well done. I had a 1992 Mercedes that had CIS fuel injection. I replaced the HUGE fuel filter (it probably held close to a quart of gas) and I had to crank the engine for at least 10 minutes to prime the system! Excellent video on a cool car.
CIS is a favorite. If you had pulled the injectors out with the lines and jumped the fuel pump relay you could have heard the CIS symphony (they sing!) :). Nice work! Injectors are the last thing I still need to replace on my 4kq. FWIW, the stock plugs are Bosch W7DTC and you can sometimes find them on Ebay.
How it started: $2.99 Harbor Freight pick set. How it’s going: Tool fabrication/slide hammer/boroscope/fishing foreign object debris out of the head. Fantastic stuff, really enjoying this project! Edit: Holy cow, those injectors are so much cooler than the E30 plastic bits.
The air shrouds you're talking about are most likely not for cooling the injectors but to atomize the fuel. Those injectors look to have fairly poor atomization so by passing air through the fuel stream to break up the fuel before it impinges on the intake port walls it will be more likely to flash into vapor and improve transient throttle behavior as less extreme accel pump or decel fuel reduction is needed.
great job, that injector service definitely was needed. but it wouldn't surprise me if that vacuum hose you replaced was responsible for like, 90% of the rough driving problems you were having :D
Wondering if a rubber bushing of appropriate diameter and a bolt/washers through the center would help removing those plastic cups. Insert, tighten nut to compress and expand the bushing so it grips, then slide hammer pull out?
That has potential. My only concern with that approach is it could expand the plastic, increasing the resistance of removal. But if used in conjunction with the slide hammer, it ought to work.
Thanks for this video it really helped me doing this job on my coupe gt! Shall i play the lottery now after i removed the threaded inserts the plastic sections came out all at one on the end ? 5 out of 5 came out all as one 👍🏼
@@PracticalEnthusiast still having a few issues with the car and how its running (if you have any tips/suggestions) but i’m happy that job went smoothly! Thanks for the video it really helped with visualising everything first before tackling the job 👍🏼
@@mikeyalcock5729 that's great to hear! Continued running issues are likely down to a vacuum or boost leak. I just fixed a pretty big air leak in the throttle body shaft bearings. Unfortunately, that's not an easy job to remedy. If I end up keeping the car then I'll try to make a video on how to do it.
Normally I would go with OEM-like black, but I had the blue laying around so I figured I'd use it. It was surprise repair so I didn't have time to wait for an order of a different color to be delivered.
Thank you very much for your videos . My 200 turbo need help. Interior light ? I think is the conector under the Dashboard. The fuse 13 is very Hot. Fuel pump ko? Audi have automatic diferencial because front tracción have 5v of 944 turbo . I Discovered ten years later.
Hi there... i have a 1980 Audi 200 5T .. I have a couple of 'stuck open' injectors that is dumping fuel into the block.. my question for you is.. is there a way of clearing my injectors without removing them? And are my injectors the same as in your engine? Kind regards Stewart (UK)
Could you post the part number of the injector air shrouds? I can't find the part or part number anywhere for a 1987 5000 turbo. I have all the other parts I need for this job. Thanks
Im having some weird issues with fuel starvation. I have a 88 5000 CS Quattro and some days it will start nice and easy others it just wont even after long cranking. Seems like the fuel pump will sometimes send fuel to the injectors and others wont. Im not to sure whats going on but i feel like its some kind of electrical issue where it will only prime the pump if the connection is good. If you have any ideas let me know. Thanks.
This sounds like a failing hall effect sensor in the distributor. I only suspect this because I once caused a similar issue on my 5000 by accident by forgetting to plug the hall effect sensor back in, and the fuel pump wouldn't prime. I'd start there if I were you.
@@PracticalEnthusiast thanks man. Ill take a look later today. I was messing around and got the car running yesterday. Just unplugged the relay and put the old one in and now it starts. Was doing testing and plugged in the one the car had before and still started. So obviously i dont have a relay issue
ua-cam.com/video/qun_fiALozk/v-deo.html What is the torque that you put on this?. I need to renew the same from my Audi Coupe. Not found the torque :(((( TY.

Hi ! this is by far the best video ive come accross in a very long time ! respect from Audi 200 owner !)))

I second the "Wow". What a job.

Nice to see the car coming back from the edge of the precipice !!

There very well may be other vacuum leaks as well. Something I'll have to investigate further.
I replace the KE jetronic... With stand alone ecu.. Megasquirt. I put turbo bigger from 944 porsche.. And goes much better my audi 5000CD..☺️☺️

Making your own or heavily modifying tools is a right of passage for old Audi ownership.
Project of “unintended spending” 😂

This project looks like a nightmare compared to your BMWs.
It's an absolute parts availability and repair information nightmare. But they say challenges are fun...
There is actually 8 intake manifold bolts.
