    The "tool" used to tighten the lock ring is in the handle: pull off the red handle "cap" and that cap is the tool.

    Thanks for this posting. I'm going to have to replace all the valves on my pool plumbing (and the pipe - it is over 30 years old now and the sun has been doing what the sun does). I'm considering using the TUB valves, although I'm going to have to put in 6 of them (!) At $55 or more a piece, that is over $300.00, but dang, they are sure nice. I've been using channel locks to turn the 'molded in place' valves for several years now, given the handles have broken off.

      $55 each? That has to be a pretty big valve. Our range for true union ball valves is $4.15 for 1/2" up to $17 for 1.5", $27 for 2", etc. see

    Good video fruitful information.How do you loosen up a stiff PVC Ball valve handle?

    • @FlexPVC
      @FlexPVC  Рік тому

      On the MIP valves you can't. They are what they are. Just open and close them a few hundred times and they should ease up a bit. But that is why people use the Trueunion valves. You can see the preload and therefore the effort required to open and close. see flexpvc.com/cart/agora.cgi?product=PVC-Valves-Ball-Valves-TrueUnion

    "I dont have the tool in front of me right now" Yes you do, it's right there on the handle. Pop the grey bit out and you have your tool. hehe.

    Question I bought. 2” UPVC True union ball valve because my pipe was 2” but when it arrived the I notice the tail pieces were 2 1/2“ why is this ???

    • @FlexPVC
      @FlexPVC  Рік тому

      Probably because you have 1.5" pipe. 1.5" Pipe is 1.5" ID (approx) and OD is 1.900" exactly. 2" pipe is 2" ID (approx) and the OD is 2.375"
      We have lots of info on this. See flexpvc.com/TechArticles/PVCPipeIdentificationAndSize.shtml

    I know this video is 7 years old so not sure I'll get a reply but is it "normal" for the tail piece to rotate within the assembly? Mine is rotating but isnt leaking.

    • @FlexPVC
      @FlexPVC  2 роки тому +1

      It should not rotate. The only reason it's not leaking is there is not enough pressure in the system to work by the o-ring. You should tighten it a little bit.

    • @MarkNOTW
      @MarkNOTW 2 роки тому

      @@FlexPVC ok. Instructions say hand tighten only and wow did I crank it as tight as I could. Thanks!
      It’s attached to a gravity fed chlorine tank so not much pressure but definitely want to avoid leaks.

    I notice in your website the Chinese made Balls vales have the ( EPDM seal and O-ring ) the American Made has the ( FPM O-ring ) What is the difference in O-ring types ? and how does the quality of Chinese made ball valve compare to the American made one ?

    • @FlexPVC
      @FlexPVC  2 роки тому

      The US offers both EPDM and FKM. But the price is just nuts. The only reason we carry the US with the FKM, is that is the only way to get that seal. It's only needed with caustic materials. Water the Buna, EPDM is plenty good enough. HTH. Thanks for the question.

    Hello sir, can I have your advice? I have installed stopper 4 inch pvc ballvalve and it is too tight to close and open it.. So, is there any way how to reduce it? Thanks

    • @FlexPVC
      @FlexPVC  3 роки тому +1

      If the valve is installed you should have a little difficulty the first time you turn it. If it's the kind with the single handle you can take a piece pipe and put it over the handle and turn it. About 2' long is good. BUT MAKE SURE you are turning it the correct direction, otherwise you can break the handle. You can confirm the direction by looking at where the handle connects to the valve. You'll see a tab and the tab turns in a slot. So make sure you are turning in the correct direction. If you still have trouble give us a call or email. flexpvc.com/Contact.shtml

    What is the actual manufacturer or name of this ball valve?

  • @Shino2600

    So do you glue the pipe into the slip socket ball valve? What’s difference from this vs Full port. Sorry I am a newbie

    • @FlexPVC
      @FlexPVC  4 роки тому

      All ball valves have a ball inside them to control the flow. These balls are always much smaller than the ID of the pipe. You can lose 20% flow because of this. The solution is to buy one size larger valve and then use a reducer bushing to connect to your plumbing. For example of your pipes are 1" (Sch 40, 1" ID, 1.312" OD) then you'd buy a 1.25" ball valve and use a reducer bushing to reduce the ends of that valve from 1.25" to 1" to allow hookup to the 1" pipe. That way the ball inside the valve will be at about 1" not neck down to about 7/8" like a typical 1" ball valve would do. HTH. Flexpvc thank you! Makes sense, even full flow valves it seems reduce flow. It’s for a sprinkler system so it sure how much flow impedance will make a differnece

    Are there any valves that are easy to turn? I hate how hard it is to turn off.

    • @FlexPVC
      @FlexPVC  4 роки тому

      Sorta. The True Union valves allow you to adjust the force the seal puts on the ball. Easy force, easy to turn, but does not seal as well (ie, you get some bleed by.) Tight seal, nearly no bleed by but more difficult to turn. So I'd recommend the True Union and then adjust it to your needs. hth. Thanks!

    True union valves leaks over time others is one solid piece and last much longer.

      My experience is the exact opposite of yours. I’ve lost track of how many leaky PVC ball valves I’ve cut out over the years. They are junk and don’t hold up to sun and chlorine. Handles inevitably snap off no matter how careful you are. After they fail I replace them with union valves and never had a problem since
