Still missing how it connects with PVC pipe because I have a 2” pipe and ordered 2” but when I stuck my pipe in it was 1/2” too wide when I measured it it was 2 1/2 “ on the valve says 2” why is this happening??

Then something is out of wack. The first thing to check is the o-ring. Make sure it's seated in the slot/groove and in good condition. The next thing is to make sure the 2 pipe are in perfect alignment. No angle. That will cause a leak every time. Eons ago Jacuzzi had a patent on a misalignment union, but they were silly expensive and when Cantor bought them out they never did anything with them. The patent is long ago expired so someone should be able to make them. But if they did, they'd probably charge an arm and a leg. ;-) But it was a good solution for misaligned pipes. (They did have a problem keepign the o-ring in place. It frequently fell out. :-( )

What causes them to leak from handle, when open half-way, when closed it doesnt leak

Unions leak after time. There is pros and cons to both. I dislike union because the screw-in is always dripping.
