Now, we need the Kennedy Center Honors to award Cyndi so we can have Cher singing "True Colors" in her honor. ❤️
Abso-freakin'-lutely!
Or Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
that'd be stunning
but can we handle True Colors that low??
Never been a truer thing said
That would be AMAZING!!
Lauper was BORN to sing this song
Pienso lo mismo....le queda maravillosamente!
Believe me
I always come back here to listen
Cyndi saying “I lied” how sweet their friendship is
I love how Cyndi says it and laughingly shrugs it off then is all business & rocks out. Totally FAB!
It's adorable 😊
Their REAl friendship is so fun
I love it! Such a great moment
ahahaha i do the same thing!!! just for those secs at the begening :P
Cyndi Lauper turned back time and KILLED IT -- can we just consider the fact that when she performed this she was 65?! SIXTY-FIVE!!!!! Both Cher and Cyndi are LEGENDS!!!!
I love that she tried something out of her normal comfort zone and absolutely nailed the performance. So much fun to watch.
Their age disappears because they work hard to preserve their talent
You must be lying
I love Cyndi lauper and she definitely has some of the most known songs ever but I personally wouldn’t consider her a legend because her career didn’t stand the test of time and her career isn’t as big as it once was unlike Cher who’s one of the greatest artists In history and she has stood the test of time

How powerful is Cher's voice that it can be heard without a mic like that!
Agreed, but also it's a theater. It's acoustically designed so that everything said could be heard.
@@PokojniToza1804 if it was not for the way the theater was designed. You could not hear cher she is to soft spoken but dam can she sing
❤️ Cindy ❤️
Well, you do see Cher motioning / calling for a mic
Well God can be heard from anywhere?
Listen to the thrill in the audience's cheers when she is first announced in the first few seconds. real joy.
I think Cyndi deserves a nod for rock hall of fame too
Absolutely!
@@NANA-bb1hd She will, all in due time :)
She's up there all by herself, no dancers, no crazy effects.... killing it! I love Cyndi!
Who dares insult Cyndi!? This 42 y o sends curses! She was a mega star from before internet era, have some respect!😡
Can we please acknowledge that this 65yr old badass is SINGING?!!! No lip syncing...actually SINGING.
yah these younger artists are short changing us at their concerts 😢
I mean who else than Cyndi Lauper can get everyone on their feet and get them to dance? Talk about freaking talent.
I know. I had chills! Cyndi Lauper BABY!!!!!!!!!!
Every show she does! See her live. You'll love it.
Kristin Chenoweth got them up on their feet
What about cher? this is a song of hers right?
@Adam Efimoff no, im fairly positive that it isnt venessa Redgrave. I've seen her shown at a couple of other Kennedy center honors, though, and would love to know who she is!
This woman is a performer from her core. She's an icon. She's the moment. She's it. She's a damn fireball.
You've hit it on the head -- a fireball.
'I lied...' That's proof of many years of friendship, like a couple of teenagers. Love it. Pure talent on the balcony and on the stage. Cyndi killed it!
Cyndi rocked the house down! Hard to believe she’s turning 70 this year!
How could anyone give this a thumbs down? The woman is almost 70 and rocked the house down!!
Cyndi sure did rock it .....love her so much she's amazing. ..
Almost 70 - wow! I would never have guessed. I thought she was far younger than that. Shows age is just a number.

Q
They’re just jelly …lol
it's because Cyndi lied to them
She was so underestimated when she first arrived on the scene in the 80s.. I don't think anyone in the industry realized how talented she actually is and the staying power shed have.
I admit I never thought she is a good singer. Only after hearing her "I drove all night" I realized that she has an outstanding voice that she can control like almost nobody else. I really don't remember who else could be compared to her skills.
She was underestimated, both as a singer and musician, but part of that I think was due to her persona, clownish, not someone to be taken seriously. I am not sure why she made that choice, as it took people quite a while to realize she is truly talented.
STAND UP PEOPLE! IT'S CYNDI LAUPER, FOR GOD'S SAKE!
It was the interesting people who did first. Kirsten Chenoweth did ( could not see who the woman in the West African clothing was). Dancer Carmen de Lavallade did too.
Seriously. For F sake. I don’t think everyone understands her incredible talent. And not just her own songs… she can sing anything and has the most amazing and beautiful covers (they hardly feel like covers bc they are so unique)
The amount of times I've come back here just to see Cyndi say, "I lied." 😂 It's the cutest thing ever.
Finally one of the most talented and strongest women in music paying a very deserved tribute to a legend, although Cindy is a legend herself.
One of the most talented and strongest women in music listening to a legend.
Agreed! Don’t think anyone else could’ve done it better❤️
That would be Cyndi
V
They are both legends
At 65, most women would be grandmothers rocking their grandchildren to sleep. This woman looks and feels like a 20+ rocking the stage. What energy!
YOU TOLD ME YOU WERE GOING TO LOS ANGELES!
I lied 💁🏼♀️
Even the woman behind her was mouthing what Cher said
"I lied."
And she gets the entire crowd on their feet!
Girl just wanna have fun 🤷
I love that that happened 🥰 CHER AND CYNDI FOREVER !!
Cyndi Lauper is probably one of the few iconic artists still going strong today. Her performances are always memorable.
"U told me you are in Los Angeles!" - "I lied" 🤣 looooove this 😁👍🏻
🤣😂
That was such a cute moment.
If you want something funny, check this out!ua-cam.com/video/yHNPVc_48N4/v-deo.html&ab_channel=FunWithVinylsandCassettes
You were going to Los Angeles
That type of friendship. 🤣
I have lost count on how many times I have watched this, Cyndi Lauper is AMAZING and when she says "I lied" everyone is right it's so her.
Eu também perdi a conta nunca me canto de assistir.
You can see it in Cher’s expression and smile Cyndi truly is a friend she loves and is happy to see. She really enjoyed watching her.
Cyndi Lauper never disappoints. Her live performances are always memorable. A musical genuis who appears to get better with age. Her voice is just as impressive today as it was back in the 1980s. Such an honour for Cher to have Cyndi Lauper herself showing such respect and appreciation for Cher herself.
I love how you can clearly see Kristin Chenowith yelling at everyone to get up on their feet bc IT'S FREAKIN CYNDI LAUPER PERFORMING CHER AND EVERYONE SHOULD'VE BEEN ON THEIR FEET FROM THE FIRST NOTE
Straight
When?!? I need to see that lol
Seriously!! It was like they had no idea who or what they were in presence of. Stand up!!
@@whutvr2 EXACTLY!!!!!!
Kind of a lot of retired people in the audience, so maybe Cindy's music wasn't their music in their earlier years.....
I never thought anyone could do this song except Cher but cyndi is knocking it out of the park
Cindy makes me believe you're never too '' old'' to be a perfect girl.
She's got charme, talent and beauty. She's awesome
Diva paying tribute to another DIVA!
The older Cher gets the sexier she becomes, the older Cyndi gets the cuter she becomes, I’m not afraid to grow old now 🥰
Living in Sherryville don’t let them fool you that’s a lot of surgeries between both of them just saying I love both of them but come on now.
Living in Sherryville truth truth truth
you gonna be good girl
UGO Girl...It ain't all that bad....sometimes. Ha! 63 Stay Safe!
I'm sorry but Cher is ugly, just a fact
I’m not sure how many times I’ve watched this, but I’ll never get tired of it.
Me, too!!!!
Same
I love Cher's reaction!! You told me you were going to Los Angeles!!!
and then Cindy's I Lied so Awesomely awkward but funny
So happy for Cher seeing her good friend belt out that song for her - they are both amazing 🤩 but I really love Cher 👏👏👍🇦🇺2022 January
These are true artists , true legends . They don't have an attitude , they're not afraid to show us their hearts, their emotions, their friendship. You realize how great artist Cindy is from the fact that she is 65 and the orchestra is leaning on her
If it couldn't be Cher singing Cher, Cyndi Lauper singing Cher is a brilliant choice!
Cyndi nails it!! Cher looked well pleased. Both superstars!! Cher: You told me you were going to Los Angeles. Cyndi: I lied!! She wanted to surprise Cher!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Cyndi you made Cher very happy and everyone else!!! Such Joy!!
Hear voice has not changed since her first album, “She’s So Unusual “. She is amazing.
I've ALWAYS loved Ms. Lauper.
Wow Cindy looks gorgeous time hasn't touched her looks or her voice we luv u Cindy ❤❤❤❤❤❤
They couldn't have picked a more perfect person than Cyndi to sing this. Love Cher's expression with Adam Lambert singing Believe too at the end.
I love this --- especially the beginning when Cher said she thought she was going to be in LA and true Cyndi - a great friend -- "I lied!" The music and singing is amazing, of course, but the friendship with "I lied" is the best!!!!
So true 💕💕💕💕🇦🇺
Probably one of my favorite moments in a Kennedy Center Honors!
Class Act. The Meryl Streep of Rock. To my mind, an unrecognized genius for her sheer range. This woman runs deep.
Cyndi's own rainbow ribbon is long overdue! An amazingly unique and super successful artist!
Cyndi is an astounding treasure. I've been in love with her since the early 80's and nothing has changed.
Me too..
Same here just love her so much!!
She is ageless !!! She is prettier and even more energetic than she was back in the 80s...amazing woman !!
Still one of my all time favourite 80's artists of all time. She just rocks
I don’t know what impresses more her voice or how she rocks those stilettos at 65!
I say both!
Shoutout to the woman who get everyone to stand up
‘That’ woman is Kristin Chenoweth... Quite a talented powerhouse herself...
I mean If Kristin Chenoweth told me to stand up you could put money on the fact that my ass would be out of that seat so fast.
Just in case you don't know Kristin Chenoweth is Glenda from wicked, among other roles she has played
After seeing this - don't tell me women are not as stunning, beautiful and talented when they grow old! Loved this sooooo much 😍
I was just a little girl when Sonny and Cher were popular now I'm an old woman and she is still popular..
Cher has always been popular, and it's always been about her voice. Sonny was nothing, but knew a meal ticket when he saw one.
@@su-rv2uq Sonny was a great promoter for Cher. Cher's voice wasn't noteworthy in the beginning however Sonny made it happen. There's no doubt, that Cher a pretty young woman, with a great body and ambition, made Sonny's job easier.
🌬❤️ CINDY LAUPER is The RADDEST CHICK from the 80's! Has never gotten the recognition she deserves....
We L❤️VE YOU GIRL...
It’s not easy to get that crowd in DC up on their feet like that. Well done, Cyndi!
Her singing voice hasn't changed.
Cyndi Lauper retained her voice. Her voice did not age!
One of the best Moments on Queer as Folk was when Cindy saved lives as a fire fighter. She's is such a talent and treasure.
Cindy will rock from her 20s to her 80s just like cher.
That's right they are both iconic and divas .. I wish they would do an album together I love them both very much.
Cyndi gave a hell of a performance most of artist's of her time can't perform like this anymore Thank you Cyndi thank you Cher ❤️
Oh my word, is that Mama Angelique Kidjo already on her feet at 0:53?
Come on, mama - show these Americans there's no time to be in your seat when the chords got you!!!
Love from South Africa.
exactly. i can't understand how people can sit still at such performances
Just 2 friends, 1 cheekily catching the other out, then belting her Anthem out for her, its amazing,
When Cher shouted to cyndi 🥰🥺🥺
I Was like Whoa!
IT is UNBELIEVABLE that Cjyndi can still rock it now just like she did back in the day. It shows great talent to get the room that was trying to be stuffy start loosening up> To see them all get up and start treating like the concert experience it was. Don't forget about Cher herself. It's unconceivable that so many people young, old, rockers, theater people, professionals, etc. all know the words to her songs. This tribute shows how beloved and relevant that Cher has been able to be. He career has spun decades and is still as relevant today as she was when she started out. The bridging of generational gaps, political divide and so many other things, is not something many artists can do. So awe inspiring both Cyndi and Cher.
Cyndi is so beautiful and vibrant. I lost track of her age so I looked it up. I cannot believe she is 66! She really knows how to get people moving and she's hilarious.
Are you kidding me!?!?! I had no idea! Wow, a fabulous talent and beautiful.
5*
She always looked younger. In fact, she was 30 when she came up with her solo debut.
I’ve seen Cyndi Lauper in concerts three times. She is phenomenal in front of a live audience. Up there with Bette Milder. Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand
Wow. Cher was so touched by this one.
Cher and Cyndi are good friends.
@@PeridotLioness85 They've toured together 2 or 3 times

I'm in love since the 80s. Cindy and i grow old together. Even Cindy seems not to age like us normal mortals.
Only the legend could pay a tribute for the legend....
I adore them both & am glad to see a friendship between them ❤
She nailed that performance
Yup amazing what u find at 420 am 😅
It took the audience long enough to finally get out of their seats to enjoy a legend on stage doing a tribute to another legend.
I love that Cyndi and Cher are buddies! I've been forever in love with Cher and her awesome personality. Cyndi is so cool, she seems like a good- hearted person who knows how to rock! 🤩
Damn Cyndi you are on fire! well done, and no doubt Cher was proud and impressed.
Cyndi has been such a bad ass for so many years! She is stunning and intelligent and one of my favorite vocalist from my youth that has stayed within my heart throughout my entire life.
It feels like everyone in the audience is having a moment of man if I could turn back time haha. Just for a moment this was such a magical moment for all. Cyndi is such a beautiful soul. I love this!
Cher so genuinely happy to see her!😍😍
Two of the most iconic people in music history 💕
I think Ms. Lauper is getting better and better with age. Her voice sounded so smooth and full.

Right there.
This is real friendship.
Breaking all decorum to get each other.....
"I lied". the awesome friendship between my two goddesses man!
Saw her perform live. Her voice is enormous. Can fill up the whole room. She is great just great ❤.
Cyndi only needs to win an Oscar to have EGOT status...
And Cher only needs a Tony for EGOT.
The Tony's the hardest to win because there are so few categories. Cyndi could just write a song for a Disney movie and get her Oscar.
Somebody PLEASE just start getting Cyndi to write and perform for films. This woman is a gem - what an inspiration.
@@theevilascotcompany9255 but Tony just doesn't get much backlash for snubbing artists or actors as much as Grammys or Oscars. Personally, winning an Oscar is the most difficult to win especially that big five categories.
@@Chayenswee1 Yeah, but you don't need a big 5 category to win an Oscar to qualify for EGOT status, that's my point. Eminem has an Oscar, for instance. If he wrote a rap musical (which would be a great idea, I think) he'd probably get a Tony as well. You can also get an Oscar for financing/producing a low budget short film or short animated feature.
This is actually *REALLY* good. When I ran across this, I really didn't know what to think. 😍😎👏
I usually do not like singers singing songs that were made famous by other artist. Usually... Ms. Lauper sang this song like it was hers and she owned it first! She is WONDERFUL! The first time I knew Ms. Lauper could sing was back in the 80's when she sang with Ms. LaBelle (Patti). You cannot be weak and survive a duet with Ms. LaBelle. Ms. Lauper sang with her like a seasoned pro! All these years later she shows the world why she has had the incredible career that she has had. Great performance! Thank you for sharing.
I totally agree with you and if you get the chance try and see her sing live AT Last on UA-cam omg the pipes on her awesome and I rem that duet with Patti ! Loved that
This is what us 80s kids got to experience. Best times!
Man she can sing that song. Love Cindy. She did cher proud.
Queens, NY in the house! Come on' Cyndi!! Show them how it is done! I LOVE this clip. I have seen both Cyndi & Cher LIVE. They just love each other and NEVER disappoint. 🎶🎤❤
She completely cyndi-lauperized the song! LOVE IT!!!!
This one was great. Cyndi showed that she can still rock. And not every day you see D.C. movers and shakers singing along and clapping to '80s rock.
I can only hope to be rocking as Cyndi Lauper at 70. Honestly goals.
You can tell Cher in her eyes and by the smile on her face she has admiration for Cyndi Lauper .
Was a fantastic tribute 👏
Wow, Cyndi is a Grammy, Tony, and Emmy winner! She just needs to win an Oscar to become an EGOT!
I hope they do a film version of the musical Kinky Boots and she adds a few songs. That is probably her best and clearest chance to EGOT
Honestly@@richardevans9003 , her acting chops need to be acknowledged for the Oscar I think.
@MrTommysTube No need. She could write a song for best song or write best score for that for Oscar. If Lady Gaga can get one it stands to reason.
@@richardevans9003Film was done in 2005.
Cyndi.. the most UNDERATED female artists out there,
Cyndi Lauper is a Grammy and Tony winner that should be in the Kennedy Center Honors
How can anyone not love Cher I am 58 years old and i have loved her since i first saw her on the Sonny and Cher show when i was 10 years old
when a legend is performing the crowd must stand
Checking this out coz I’ve forgotten this finale performance until it popped up on my UA-cam. Hands down Adam should have won this Idol. We were at that time rooting for him all the way, coz he just had super star written all over him. He was robbed, but look at him now, performing everywhere with Queen. 👏🏻🤩
her voice screams royal 80s even at her age huhu i love it so much
if there is a category of musical genius, these 2 share the honour so so so wonderful they collaborate and became and remain friends. Cyndi is gonna win that spot in
Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
That's Cyndi! Contagious! Gets the entire house participating. All her shows are like that.
Holy cow only Cindy Lauper can do that! Just loved it!
Lauper is so special. Love her.
Her energy is INSANE.
