It’s mainly dihydromyrcenol and calone, both are very synthetic. Yes GIT is a super synthetic scent. Of course GIT is higher quality (it costs 300€ after all) and goes more into a green/freshwater direction whereas cool water is more blue/saltwater, but the DNA is the same. A whiff in the air of GIT will be indistinguishable to the average person from CW, because of that memory association he or she has with the main note of both fragrances: dihydromyrcenol. Both were created by Pierre Bourdon after all. Is GIT worth it? Nobody can answer that for you, just bear in mind that you have to want it for yourself if you really can appreciate that step up in quality for a rather generic scent profile (in 2024 at least, im sure it was new and unique in the 80ies). If you want to impress the world and people around you though be ready for a slap in the face when someone mistakes your GIT for CW. The history behind these fragrances is actually pretty interesting, I recommend the book “the ghost perfumer” to anyone interested. Creed is a nasty company, fake heritage and history, stolen formulas etc…
This is a really genuine review where the reviewer is knowledgeable and honest in regards to his opinions, not just lazily reading off Fragrantica the notes and constantly saying "smells fresh" all the time. Also normally the "fake" reviewers list the products in their description that earns profits based on how many people click on them so I tried to avoid those reviewers as much as I can.
You should try an old bottle of cool water. The bottles I have are around 25 years old and I smelled a newer bottle the other day and its not even as close to being as good. For some reason its has a more chemical smell. The old bottle its much better in all aspects.
I never knew the 2 where supposed smell alike..I grew up on cool water..I keep a bottle of it..recently I purchased GIT..an hate it..and I tried not to..cuz of what I paid of course..but also cuz every single person I hear talk about it..gets a stiffy over it..I don’t smell the similarity..at all!..lol..GIT jus smells like Irish spring in a bottle to me
Cool water is what teenagers wear on their first date, at the movies and mall. GIT is what a man wears on a fine wining and dining date during a cool summer night.
No way! I have both, and there is noway they are not similar at all. Cool water smells different and is my to go is clean and fresh, and Creed it's green and unique, you can smell like fields and fresh, it's not aquatic. They are not to compare I enjoy both. THEY ARE NOT SIMILAR!
I just got GIT and wore it for the first time today and I'm shocked that, to me, they are nigh on identical lol. Tweed obviously higher quality but it wore off super quick which is very disappointing for the price.
Tres nuit is not even close is a totally different green smell whilst cool water n git are pretty damn similar if u smell git on a tester strip people who havnt heard of creed would tell u its cool water clearly trust me tres nuit is totally different smells like simple grass
@@varunsingh7068No it isnt. That’s just something people who can’t afford GIT tell themselves to convince themselves they don’t need it. Tres is $20 for a reason. Probably cost $2 to make, with the lowest quality ingredients.
Cool water have been reformulated to death!! it suffers very poor performance and longevity and no longer worth purchasing and should not be on anyone's radar to purchase, no matter how cheap its, corporate (Coty) greed have killed cool waters many years back! If you like GIT scent profile, and you looking for something little easy on your pocket, you can look into L'Aventure Knight by Al Haramain or Rasasi Egra, both are excellent juices and its as closes you can get to GIT. The irony is that both Egra and L'Aventure Knight will perform better then latest batches of GIT from Creed.
@@joeslacker1020 without a doubt yes. One of the perfumers who worked on GIT for Creed left them and created the exact same scent when he was hired by Davidoff, rumor has it that it was a personal vendetta. it cost Creed a lot of money. but yes its identical in smell, like it was supposed to be ;)
@@engell3707 not that I know of; the details are unknown, but it was because the perfumer wanted to have credit for his work under Creed, but that is not how Creed works. In fact, he created another fragrance for Montblanc, "Individuel", and Creed returned the favor by copying him and making "Original Santal". this ended up costing Montblanc so much money (people thought that Montblanc had copied Creed!) that Montblanc decided to copy Aventus and made Explorer.
I have a 2019 bottle of GIT. I thought the performance was terrible. I didn’t wear it for 12 months. Then I tried it again and it was suddenly nuclear. Can’t even wash it off. And the drydown is insanely good. Now, millesime imperial, that’s a fragrance which suffers from poor performance.
Just to clarify, extremely cheap is a lie. In my opinion 25-30 to smell good is expensive in its own way. I'd be a millionaire and still wear cheap stuff because 300 is retarded to pay.
To the untrained nose, nobody can tell the difference.
100%

The first time I smelled GIT I got flashbacks to 2001 when I wore cool water. It's a lovely smell but for me it is a smell from the past.
Cool water fades faster than a fart in the air.
I laughed so hard at this comment because it’s true
Depends on what kind of fart

They smell nothing alike. CREED knocks on women’s subconscience.

The similarities are in the dry down, that’s what people are referring to when they compare both.
Vintage Cool Water definitely the best.

Correct, not comparable or similarities.
They shouldn't be in the same sentence
I think layering CW with ambroxan really creates a superb fragrance.
What's ambroxan?
I think... its a aroma chemical molecule that enhanses projection, brightens the frag a bit, and something like that.
