Thank you so much for your video on this seat, was trying to figure out which way to go with a new purchase for my 2021 trike. Sounds like mustang is the way to go, even the wife said “ it would be better to spend a little more to get the seat that will last you for years to come.” Again thanks so much
When I sat on this seat when we rode together, I immediately noticed the difference with leg room. It’s definitely comfortable and a great seat for taller riders. Nice breakdown.
Your channel is awesome. Concise, and thorough. I have a 2019 Ultra Limited and the seat pushes my "boys" so much forward that it kills. I had a 2005 Ultra and when I replaced my seat it was with a Mustang and I loved it. When I traded my 05 and bought my 2019 I couldn't get comfortable. I couldn't figure out why. And then I had an epiphany and realized that it was the damn seat. After watch your video it WAS an epiphany. Thanks brother and keep up the great work.
We had this exact seat for awhile. When I traded the Street Glide for the Road Glide Ultra, we decided to sell the Mustang. The RGU seat is surprisingly comfortable, minus the garbage back rest design as you mentioned, pushes forward. I’m swapping out the stock bars for KST 14” adjustable bars and will try that without the backrest for a bit.
I'm glad you like your Mustang seat Bud, I ordered the Mustang Deluxe Touring seat with heat, we have had several bike's with heated seats and for us it's the only way to ride, especially with the cold weather that we ride in, I knew you would love that Mustang seat Brother, enjoy 👍🏼💯
The Mustang seat does look like it is built better than stock. I always wear Bicycle Ridding pants under my Jeans on a long bike trip for the gel butt.If you like the seat thats all that matters. Good review. One of the things with your bike I remember reading they made the passenger seat bigger I think in 2018. with your new mustang seat you took that away.I have short legs stock seat fits me fine .
Think I watched you review of it once before with Duchess, really debating on new seat for my RKC, it is my daily and long distance ride and my tail bone kills me on the stock seat after couple hours. Oh hehe Maverick Seat? Yes I listen lol
Very good feedback. I been thinking new seat since I bought my 2017 Road Glide Ultra Just thinking the other day I got close to 28 thou on the stock seat. At this point won’t be long before trading in for new motorcycle. Same thing with stock bars been thinking of Factory 47. I hate making decisions. Procrastination is not a good thing. At least you have me convinced on the Mustang if I ever get my head out of my blankety blank
@@doulos77 I did. It wasn't for me. I sent it back the next day. Everyone is different, I'm good with the stock seat. My decision was based on it raised me up about 1 inch, and it is really wide.
@@christate1974 thanks man. stock is ok for a couple of hours but I'm 250 and it was just not gonna cut it for the long trips we take. Be blessed and safe brother
Clearly you have the opposite issue that I do. I had to get the super reach seat and alter the angle of my shocks. LOL Bonus that the seat is really comfortable and creates its own backrest.
This video was awhile ago and seems like everything is hard to get. I bought a Mustang and the link I have in description still works I believe. Not sure if you want a Harley seat. Good luck
I have used Mustang seats on a couple Vulcans and they were better than stock, but not an all day seat, but, I weighed a lot more then and I've had a few fusion surgeries, so I'd probably feel differently now. For me, all my weight had been on my tailbone and it would be murder after a while. The other choice is a custom seat. Russell comes to mind and Rich's seats. There are probably others. Russell can be tough for those of short inseam.
@@BoDean52 It's been a trip. I had 3 surgeries in 6 months from oct 2018 to march 2019. It took me half a year to get back to some semblance of normal. Getting older is tough. Thanks for the thoughts.
Warning.....this is going to be a long reply. To sum it up I agree with Bob and Mustang seats are the bomb. I went though the musical seat game on my 2015 Road Glide. The stock seat of course is useless for a passenger so right away I ordered a Tall Boy seat from the dealer so my wife would have a better seat and I would have more room. As Bob found out the Tall Boy seat offers no back support with the way it slopes back from the rider. Also the only backrest that fits the Tall Boy is the Harley non adjustable one. "Fits" is a loose term as it really pushes you forward defeating the purpose of a seat that moves you back. I managed to modify a Kuriakyn backrest to work with it though. Just took some thinking and making some custom mounts for it. Next I went with a Harley stock Ultra seat. This wasn't too bad of a seat comfort wise and my wife loved it. Problem was it pushed me too far forward and I really felt cramped. Needed to go with something else. I decided to try a Lepera Maverick seat with Rider backrest. This was a beautiful looking seat, but was nothing short of torture to sit on for any period of time. Way too dam hard. We took one 400 mile trip and my wife had green and purple bruises and I was sore too. I sold it to someone that was more interested in looks than comfort. Next up was a Harley Hammock seat that everyone raved about. It was OK but I felt disconnected from the bike and to be honest I felt the Tall Boy was better on my butt for long rides. The Harley adjustable backrest does not work well with this seat btw and will rip up the vinyl where it sits in the slot. It needs to be modified to work properly. I ended up using my modified Kuriakyn backrest with it as it fit better. At this point I had done a bunch of work on the bike, spending a small fortune on taking a bone stock Road Glide standard up to being a Road Glide Ultra. The only way to look at mine and realize it wasn't an Ultra was to look at the wheels or the fact it wasn't water cooled. I also had a stage 3 kit put on it and was never happy with the way it ran. It had more power but the ride ability suffered. I ended up selling the bike before getting another seat. This year I bought a 2020 Street Glide standard with RDRS, Boom GTS, in Midnight Blue. The seat of course had to be changed and this time I wasn't messing around with a gauntlet of Harley seats. I previously had a Mustang seat on a Low Rider and loved it. So I ordered the Mustang Summit seat made specifically for the Rushmore bikes. Model 76680. I see they now list the 2008 and up bikes will fit it, but it was originally designed for the 2014 and up bikes. The rider seat is 19" wide but the nose is narrower than the stock seat and the passenger seat is a full 16" wide. I later ordered the matching rider and passenger backrests. The seat lifts me up roughly an inch over the stock Street Glide seat. It lists the seat as moving the rider back 1.75". When you first sit on a Mustang it will feel quite firm, not hard, but firm. As you ride is seems to mold to your shape somewhat. Kind of like memory foam or something. I find with the softer Harley seats I get sore on a long ride. It feels like I am sinking down through the foam and sitting on the seat pan. Not sure if I am but that is how it feels. Either way whatever it is the foam they use in Mustang seats it just plain works for me for long distance riding. I can cover multiple 600 mile days without getting sore. It is a very big seat and without a passenger backrest and rack on my bike it looks out of place. With a tour pak or backrest and rack it blends in. So for just running around town solo I use my stock Street Gide seat and save the wear and tear on my good Mustang seat. Anytime my wife is going with me or if I plan on doing any miles the Mustang goes on the bike. With all that said remember everyone's tastes are different but I am 100% sold on Mustang seats. BTW I am between 6' and 6'1" and around 185 lb with a 33" inseam. Edit: I noticed some people asking about height compared to the Ultra seat. It would be very similar as the Ultra seat is higher than a Street Glide seat.
