I just picked one up, Wednesday after numerous UA-cam videos and them referencing your review. It does move me back, and hopefully saves me from sciatica and lower back pain intensity not a cure.
Call me overly cautious, but I'm still watching this progress... Now the big question... After two years, what are Mrs BoDean's views on the pillion department?
I just ordered the same seat I ordered the heated version. Very excited to get it in. I and the Canadian guys. are going to attend VAM this year?wondered if you guys are planning on attending would love to meet you.
Huge congrats on the seat, I love it. Not positive on VAMM because many of us are doing an Ohio meetup at the Windy 9 in June. Any chance you can come to that? I need to shake the hand if Superman, life long dream!
Mark, I wish I could give you a solid advice there other than I would check out the main manufacturers and try mustang. Being a tall guy my problem has been different than yours, good luck and let me know what you end up with. I’m sure somebody also asked that question to.
I wish I watched this video before I installed my Mustang Super Touring seat yesterday. I purchased it through my dealer, but it is slotted and can accommodate my current Harley backrest. I hope I don't regret not getting the Mustang saddle with backrest. We'll see
Glad you took the time to give an honest 1 yr review/ update, I do have a question concerning the seat.. as I too am 6 3 with a 35 inch inseam, did the super tour raise you up or lower you down, as I really don't want to go up anymore, but my stock seat SUCKS and needs to be replaced and I. Looking at either a super tour or a lowdown. Thanks in advance for the information. Cheers from the Great White North 🇨🇦
Anyone have an opinion on if the heated option is worth it? There's a significant price swing (about $400 or 40% increase) for that option. I ride pretty much all year around as I live in the Southeast, and I'm thinking it would be nice to have during the winter months, especially for the wife who is addicted to heated seats in her cage, but I wanted a little reassurance/feedback if anyone has that option and has used it. Thanks!
I can't help you there but I know a few people that have seated seats (not sure if Mustang) and love them. Have to keep momma happy I guess, my bride prefers 75 degrees and up so I am good
I want to add, I was given a demo super touring seat that I rode for 6 months while waiting for the seat I ordered during Covid. I ordered the "Deluxe" version that has stitching which I think looks nicer. Well, the stitching changes the feel and construction of the seat. The seat foam and stiching down the center and sides feel like separate sections and is not as comfortable. 1.5 years later I still don't love the seat. The non-deluxe seat flows as one piece under your butt and contours to your body shape. Not as fancy but better. Btw I called Mustang, obviously once used you own it.
@@BoDean52 Yes pn#79006, I think stitching adds Deluxe to the description. You can get the stitching in black, grey, blue and red. I also got the backrest. Aesthetically the seat looks amazing. But the nonstiched seat was much more comfortable. Just thought I'd give people a heads up if they were in between the two. You would never know the difference except I rode a demo seat for 6 months.
Thanks and normally I put on one of those bikini covers over it. If I recall it did get wet with rain one night and was OK, but I’m just not positive and don’t wanna lead you the wrong way. I love this seat though
Good review! Been looking at seats, still undecided. I may have missed it, but I heard you mention the seat sits you back 1 1/2" but does it move you up or down compared to the stock seat?
Like you I’m a tall guy. 6’4”. Spent some time in the military jumping out of perfectly good airplanes, so now have back issues. I need a seat that doesn’t make me feel like I’m slouching. The stock seat just feels rounded at the base. Is that mustang at more of a right angle. Need the acute angle for more lower back support. I got a Mustangnseat back in 2008, it was nice felt good. It lasted 8 months, then the vinyl cracked. Long story short, I had to get it reap holstered, so much for the one year warranty.
Funny you mention, I just filmed a video coming out Wednesday that included the seat conversation. I have had it for two years and love it but its not the coolest looking one. I will always run with a Mustang
I bent the rods on the Hardly backrest by putting them in a vise. It didn't push me forward after that! Now I wonder about a different seat for my Spyder.
Nice review - so many people don't follow up after the initial review, so this was refreshing to see. I'm looking at buying a new seat for my Street Glide, but I have the opposite problem from you - I'm only 5'8" tall, so I need one that brings me closer and lower to the ground. Guess I'll be looking at Mustang's site after watching this! :D
Hey Guy, You did an excellent job explaining the mustang seat. I just brought a 2022 Road Glide, and I am looking for a comfortable seat for my wife. I’m going to check this product out. Be safe out there and enjoy your riding.
I bought a Mustang seat and love it. I bought the Vintage Mustang seat. I am 5' 9" . This seat brought me forward , which was great. Back rest is great! Seat is not slippery like the stock seat. The Mustang seat has been on two Harley-Davidson SGS now.
I have a 2000 Vulcan classic 1500 that I bought in 2004 and I immediately had to buy an aftermarket seat the factory seat was miserable, at that time Mustang was the only one available, I have over 100,000 miles on it and it has been really comfortable. My 05 ultra has the factory seat but it does feel like you are sitting on the tank and I'm only 6'0"
Well that’s BS. Sounds like you got a used one sent to you. All I can tell is I’ve had this thing for four years and been the best seat I’ve ever ever had. Whatever works for you right but I’d be mad just like you are.
I have been happy with my Mustang seat so far. Still really can't get over the 2 hour mark though without having to stop and give my backside a break. I loved some of the reviews I read before purchasing talking about how they can go hours now without stopping. I guess my backside just needs more breaks. haha
I'm also a taller rider so I tried the extended reach mustang seat . IMO I still felt like I was riding on the gas tank. It was a comfortable seat with good quality but I felt cramped. Finally went with the le para daddy long legs which was a huge difference and really stretches me out.
I really consider those because a lot of people talk about them, was a little concerned how much space I would take away from the passenger. Glad you found something you like
Tried harley sundowner for couple of days and my wife didn't think much of it, just got the hammock demo seat today and she really hated it, local dealers don't have a mustang demo, wouldn't mind checking it out. I have a feeling if she didn't like the hammock, which seems to be one of the higher end seats, she's going to be hard to please, maybe I'll find a mustang demo sometime to try
Yeah, you sold me on it last year, so I ordered one last August from Mustang site while I was on the phone with their customer service for proper fitment. Finally got it last December due to them being so far behind, but when I went to install in May, I found it was the wrong seat and rider backrest. The passenger seat needed to be the wider version, and they sold me the rider backrest that mounts on the fender. They would not take my seat back (even though I just took it out of the box) because it was over three months since receiving, but did send me the correct backrest piece. So riders beware! It’s a very good seat, but I truly wish they would have let me swap it out for the correct one.
You let it sit for 6 months after you got it, and blame Mustang for not accepting a return? Man up and accept some responsibility. For what that seat costs, making sure you received what you ordered might have been a good idea.
@@johngilbert1047 - Although I was not happy with the whole situation, and maybe I was a little harsh in my comments, extenuating circumstances prevailed, and I have already made my peace with it. That does not change what actually happened - just sharing, that’s all.
I’m on my second Mustang seat and I’m definitely a Mustang seat fanboy. Best out there in my humble opinion. My new one for the Heritage has the back rest and this is the only back rest I’ve found that doesn’t push me forward. I love its adjustability and comfort. Definitely no buyers remorse for me even though they are pricey. Take care and ride safe.
I've always changed out stock seats before taking delivery. I changed them out for two reasons, my comfort and for my passengers comfort. Let'sface it, stock seats are just not comfortable especially the passenger pillion. I put a Harley Sundowner on my 06 RoadKing Classic and loved it. So much so I put 60K miles on that bike with that seat. When I purchased my StreetGlide Special I changed the seat to again a Sundowner but on the StreetGlide with now just short of 30K miles, it's just not that comfortable and I do a lot of long distance riding. I have been eyeing and checking reviews on the Mustang seats and will probably pull the trigger soon!! Thanks for your info and review!!
My pleasure Dusty and I can just say my experience has been good so far. I know there are some other good seats out there too. Appreciate you, ride safe!
I used to play the seat game trying different seats, now I skip that and just go and buy a Mustang touring seat right away. The Mustang Summit that I put on my 20 Street Glide when I bought it last year now has over 21k miles on it. For me nothing comes close to the quality and and comfort of the Mustang. BTW I take the rider backrest out when my wife is on the bike as well.
When I test rode my current road glide, took the seat right off old bike even for the test ride and It never left. I told my wife she is my back rest 😂
I am looking to replace the stock seat on my 2020 TriGlide, so your 1 year review is very timely! I have the adjustable back rest(it can tilt forward or backwards with the control under the right side), I am wondering if the mount will work with the Mustang seat back rest… really pushing the fuel limits in this video! 🤣🤓🤣
Hi. Great review! The Mustang seat looks amazing and I’ve so many good thing. The only thing I don’t like the look of is that screw/knob adjuster on the backrest. Does that interfere at all with your passenger as it seems to protrude quite far. Right now I have the stock seat on my 2018 FLHTK with the adjustable back rest via the leaver under the side of the seat with I like but the seat itself is not doing it for me. Thank you again for the great reviews you do. Ride safe!!
I was exactly the same and the knob bothered me. It does not impact the rider at all, wife says non issue. Kind of forget it after the first week or so and it really does help with the flexibility of the seat. We actually ride without it when we are two up but before we did that she said it did not bother her or touch her at all
BD52, I have the HD Hammock on my 12 Ultra Limited. It is (to me) the worse seat ever, the wife and I both like the heated part, but comfort is nonexistent and my Bum is screaming after a 100 miles, however my sister bought if for me 7 years ago. I might give the Heated Mustang a try. Oh yeah, I got some split vision mirrors and I like them, but it will take some getting used to. Good recommendation...
I’ve only ridden on a Mustang seat for a short amount of time on any motorcycle but they make a quality seat. I have a ton of time on Corbin seats due to them being one of the few who makes seats for Honda. Good video and review!
@@BoDean52 Ok thx. I was hoping for a little lower like the Tall Boy I have now. Maybe see you on the road sometime, we ride the same areas a lot. Keep up the great videos.
@@johnpitt1011 I'm 6'3 and have had 3 lower back surgeries so comfort is a big issue for me. I have a 2015 Ultra Classic that I had them swap seats to the Tall Boy when I bought it. I don't even know what the stock seat feels like so I can't do any comparisons to that. I just put the Mustang Super Touring 79556 on it last night but only had time for about a 10 mile test run. It does seem to sit you up slightly higher than the Tall Boy. My guess would be about an inch (definitely not more than one). It did not seem to cause any wind buffeting issues. The right angle of the seat back seemed more comfortable and less likely to have you sliding down like I find the T.B. does. I'll be taking it out for a stroll today. If I find anything different than what I've mentioned (or if I notice other stuff good or bad) I'll come back and update this.
I have the same seat and like someone said, It still has my crotch on the tank, I’m 6”1. After a couple hundred miles my tailbone is screaming. 3100 round trip to sturgis this year was horrible. I’ve got a few thousand more miles on it than that. I think it broke in and just broke. I took it off.
wow....not happened to me but I will keep my eye out for that. I like it a lot now so would be disappointed if I get to where you are. What did you put back on?
...WOW....a year!...scary how fast time goes the older we get!🤣👍...comfort is such a subjective thing!...I'm 5'9"...and I actually like the stock seat...might change it out later!...thanks for sharing...stay safe...ride safe!!😎👍🤙👍🤙🇨🇦

I was exactly the same and the knob bothered me. It does not impact the rider at all, wife says non issue. Kind of forget it after the first week or so and it really does help with the flexibility of the seat. We actually ride without it when we are two up but before we did that she said it did not bother her or touch her at all
@@BoDean52 thank you for your reply 👍🏼
BD52, I have the HD Hammock on my 12 Ultra Limited. It is (to me) the worse seat ever, the wife and I both like the heated part, but comfort is nonexistent and my Bum is screaming after a 100 miles, however my sister bought if for me 7 years ago. I might give the Heated Mustang a try. Oh yeah, I got some split vision mirrors and I like them, but it will take some getting used to. Good recommendation...
Good luck on the seat and I love those mirrors. Ride safe Freddie
I’ve only ridden on a Mustang seat for a short amount of time on any motorcycle but they make a quality seat. I have a ton of time on Corbin seats due to them being one of the few who makes seats for Honda. Good video and review!
Thanks brother and I heard those seats are good as well
I've always had a mustang seat on my bikes.I won't use anything else
We are the same for sure......when you finally find the one, they stay!
Does that seat keep you at the same height as the stock? Or lower?
John it felt like the same height to me.
@@BoDean52 my old Harley sundowner. Goin with road sofa this winter. Give that a try.
I love my mustang seat. it makes me feel like I am sitting in the bike, not on it. If that makes sense. 😁 Extremely comfortable.
I totally get that and agree...huge Mustang fan here
...WOW....a year!...scary how fast time goes the older we get!🤣👍...comfort is such a subjective thing!...I'm 5'9"...and I actually like the stock seat...might change it out later!...thanks for sharing...stay safe...ride safe!!😎👍🤙👍🤙🇨🇦
Thanks Inn it was actually 13 months, time does fly. If I didn’t need the extra length from the seat sitting me back, I may have kept the stock seat
Its built like a saddle
agree
I road with a Mustang seat for 5 years on my other bike and loved it ,I just purchased one of these seats just like yours on Amazon about a month ago for my Roadglide, I am also 6 foot 3 and love how it sits me back a bit more.
That is actually the big thing for me is it sets me back as well, plus how the back rest works helps for sure too
I had Mustang seats on my two Honda 1800 bikes. Loved them...
This one has been good for me so far for sure
