I really only stumbled across this video since I was looking for reviews for Baratza grinders, but I stayed since Slawek does such a great job presenting. Subscribed!
The PDF manual outlines steps to re-calibrate the load cell - you need a 500g weight that fits in the grounds bin container. You may want to try that. Thanks for the video, this is most likely my next grinder if my current one bites the dust.
If you want to switch from using the porta filter holder and the clear container, you can move that upper retention piece by swinging it out of the way. That piece is only for porta filters :)
The last digit on a scale is called a “check digit.” It’s never 100% accurate. To get an accurate measurement to the tenth of a g you will need a scale that measures two decimal places. On the back label of the scale you will see the accuracy of that check digit. It is usually +-.3 to .5. I would suggest redoing the test with a scale that measures to the hundredths. Thanks for the video. Very informative. I just got this grinder and I love it
Hello, I like the feature of the sette wi, I currently have a mazzer mini and I find it a bit inconsistent, how would you compare these two for home use, and by the I am not a complete newbie
Hello, I’ve read somewhere that you should have the grinder running while adjusting the grind size to prevent jamming. Is this true? If so, how can you do that without wasting a lot of coffee? Sorry if I’m missing something obvious. I’m a newbie to having a grinder with this level of sophistication.
Hi, That is true but only if you are adjusting finer. When you adjust the grind finer you are moving the burrs closer together and if there is coffee inside the hopper it can jam. If you are going coarser you don't have to because you are creating more room between the burrs.
Well, he told that you can set 3 programmable doses anyway you want, and if scales are right (which probably isnt true, unless are calibrated properly in the lab), instead 18.0g you just do 18.3g...
The grind quality is excellent for a grinder in this range. Practically no clumping on fine espresso grinds, good distribution and very low grind retention.
@@ammibones9279 it's hard to say without seeing it. Have you tried calling Baratza support? They are very helpful. Or you can send a video to our tech support too, we are happy to help
I believe that Baratza does manufacturer their products in 220v but I am not certain. We only have 110. Contact the manufacturer they are very friendly and easy to deal with.
@@iDrinkCoffeeCanada sorry i meant they as baratza but thanks for clarifying. its just i recognized that guys name he might be in the MENA region and the resellers there support 220v and he is probably asking about if baratza make 220v

Hi, your video was so helpful but I am wondering the best settings on both grinder settings for espresso. Thank you.
strange as my scale matches the grinder just cannot fit into 54mm portafilter 18g
You probably need to re-calibrate both scales. Acaia sells a lab-grade precise 500g weight for this.

Is this grinder better than Vario W in 2020? And can it do turkish (or close to it) on finest setting?
I had one of these grinders and it was garbage….the motor is way too fast for it’s plastic parts…better off buying a eureka minion grinder
Does anyone know if they improved the plastic gears that used to fail after 2 years?
Have you had a chance to measure retention?
thanks for the vid.
will there be another showdown comparing Kopi Deva and Baratza Sette?
Both are direct through chute design.
Hi, I'm not familiar with the Kopi Deva, I will have to look into it

Can you adjust the Sette to compensate the 0.3 difference, assuming the tabletop weighing device is more accurate than the Sette?

Need information on the only important thing. The quality of the grind.

@@iDrinkCoffeeCanada my grinder when it's grinding the burr looks like shaky. Is it normal?

Good review, only missed consistency of size comment
Feels like this should be a 270 upgrade not a seperate model
Hi , Would this pair well with a Sage Dual Boiler please ?
Yes certainly, we sell that combination often. Here it is the Breville dual boiler but it is the same product
Can it work in 240v

Do you set WEIGHT or TIME on grinder?
Hello, with this grinder you set the weight. It has a load cell (scale) built into the portafilter forks

Thakns for info. Thus is Great feature!

Thank you very much for answer.
This is great feature.
This grinder is good, but the hopper material quality is so disappointing.
