How do you know Christmas came late during "the covid"? When you find this channel and realize you have a lot of bingewatching goodness ahead of you!! Yummy!!!
Very cool tip! I was using selecting tool for the replacement of the sky. This is an easier way and gives more imagination in the pic's composition. Thx.
Hi Manuel Thanks so much really appreciate the comment. You maye even like this tutorial I did aswell on sky replacement ua-cam.com/video/zeBQcAofZHg/v-deo.html
Hmm - I watched this in slow motion about 20 times. My problem is when you dragged the milky way image "onto" the mask layer. At 2:15 you very clearly drag that sky image down to a point LOWER than the mask layer, release the mouse, and it does what you want. When I do that ( Windows Affinity Photo 1.9.2.1035), it does not work. That places the sky image below the city image... bottom line is that you see on ly the milky way in the lower half of the photo, and pure white background on the upper half of the photo. For me, I have to drag the sky image to just higher than the mask layer , drop it there, and then it will get the same result that you showed. it's strange behavior, since I'm dropping that sky image to a location higher than the mask, but when I release the mouse, it falls to a level lower than the mask - took me a long time to figure that out. I hope that makes sense to someone else out there watching this in 2021 using the windows version. Perhaps the AP version has changed since this video was made, and the behavior is different, or this is a windows vs. mac thing.
Hi Bugman I have just reproduced this again and it worked perfectly, You have to make sure that you are clipping the image to the mask. So drag down and then move to the right, under the mask, not just straight under the mask, it has to be clipped. Let me know if you are still having trouble and I can try to help you further....Mike
I followed every step, but I don't get the same results - has something changed for Affinity photo v2? The top of the copy of the city remains white, but it does not become transparent to let the night-sky come through. I'm not sure if the mask is working the same way?
Hi I haven't tried this in V2 yet, I will give it a go and see if all works the same ....Sorry you had some problems. I will let you know how I go and try to help if I can......Mike
Hi so sorry you are having a little trouble with this one, it’s a little hard to trouble shoot as I am unable to see you when you do the edit. I would like to help if I can. At what point is it filling all white ?

I like your editing style.
Thanks Robion you are very kind to say so, much appreciated
This still makes no sense to me. It's just filling a white gradient over my image.
