Nice video, but can you demonstrate how to use the gradient in an landscape photo to darken the sky with a complex horizon? Thank you so much and have a great 2024

Thank you and have a great 2024 too! I think maybe this video can help? ua-cam.com/video/hPHAINUyGj0/v-deo.html
If your horizon is complex, you probably need to add a mask to brush away or soften the effect. Hope this makes sense.

Nice tutorial! Several tips I had not known about. However, a big limitation of Affinity Photo at this time is it can't import any of the zillions of free gradients (*.grd files) that have been created for Photoshop. The only way to get the gradients into Affinity Photo is to export them from Photoshop as *.psd image files and then use Affinity Photo to import the image files and create the gradients from them. But that means you need a copy of Photoshop.

Thank you... You are right, it is pity that Affinity cannot load these .grd files out of the box. As an alternative, not perfect but you can try to use this free tool
      mikestimpson.com/GrdToAfpalette/
(all processing is done in your browser. No files are uploaded anywhere.)
Also keep in mind that Adobe gradients have a separate track for transparency stops independent from the colours which Affinity also does not support. (would love to see that option too in Affinity, but you can mimic this probably by adding an additional point and change that transparency).

@@Graphicalfinity Thanks for the tips! I'll check out GrdtoAfpalette. Even Corel's gradients are stored in grd format and can support both a color track and a separate transparency track. (Corel isn't a serious competitor to Photoshop, but I've kept it around just for things like this and its AI features, which Affinity Photo doesn't have yet either.)
