- In this video I show you how to install an Android based head unit upgrade for your E9X based BMW. This also applies to the E6X series. This guide shows you how to replaced your 8.8" CCC screen for an upgraded Android based system to bring the car up to date in terms of it's infotainment system.
Once it's installed toward the later half of the video I show you how the interface looks and what it can do.

I actually purchased the head unit. I watched the videos and was able to get everything taken apart but hooking it up was another story. Since I had a lot of questions, I decided to take it to a professional sound shop. They were able to do it in about 2.5 hrs as a first time installer. So far I'm very happy with the outcome. There are a few things that I need to read up and figure out. Bottom line, I'm glad I've brought my 2011 into the 21 century.

On the comment section it was questioned that in order to move through apps you are gonna be turning idrive dial 10x !? Is there hat correct ? Have you experienced any issue at all using this on your BMW ?

Would LOVE to see how you got the extra cabling shoved out of the way enough to get the radio unit back into dash. Because the size of the interface connector and bundle along with the relatively short length of the interface wiring bundle makes getting the radio back into the dash a NIGHTMARE!

@@lassepedersen3801 I cut my hands up pretty good shoving the interface cabling into the only available space - to the lower left of the radio unit space. But I did get it, and the new display unit works like a charm...except for the fact that it's Android so the Bluetooth connectivity (key to Apple CarPlay functionality) is meh.
@@johnbrewer174 I've tried lower left and right, and it wont fit no matter what, cables have been out the headunit 12-15 times. When trying to fit the glovebox side, cable is too short and cant be lock in the HU, trying right side, i cant get the out of the way as the quadlock is bigger than the gap
There's a thread on this unit, either spoilstreet or boostaddict; someone mentioned y splitter for GPS, and a review of the newer unit with Android 7 having better sound. Great video

it's the same UI
To make sound better, you need RCA to aux cable. Attached the RCA cable on Aux out L and Aux out R and run the aux end to your aux port. I just installed it and it sounds just like OEM.

Hi Monte, My screen cables say aux in Left and aux in right with rca also says audio out with Aux cable female. how do I connect the rca cable as you suggested?

Did you ever have a problem playing music from your phone to the car on bluetooth my music plays on my phone as it should and shows me on the screen its playing ok but there isn't any music coming out on the speakers
Did you buy the Aux port extention to plug the speakers into your phone? the AUX is required to have the audio play.

1GB RAM - that's the reason for slow app loading and possibly slowness. I wonder if they make 2-4GB RAM models available like they do for other headunits. If not, this is still good upgrade. EDIT: Yes there is 2GB RAM and also 4GB RAM version available with small price difference, but well worth it.
When the car is ignited the audio from TV transfers to audio from radio , same goes with Bluetooth and videos. But if car is not ignited there is no problem.

What's the model of this Android based system? There are so many of these units, many don't support the MOST network with CCC and Logic 7. Is there some reason why you don't include product info or specs so I (we) can buy this thing?

tried to install my screen and RIP i need the damn aux cable between the harness and the armrest, thank you bmw for making me be able to talk with my phone with bluetooth but i can only use aux for audio damnit

Terrence Sharp nah man you’ll probably have to use the aux or change the head unit at some point into something that let’s you use Bluetooth for audio

Nice! I would be keen to see how the mhd gauges look on there. I'm pretty happy with the CCC on my 09 335i, quite a bit newer and higher res than the previous gen. If I could have custom Nav and mhd gauges I would be pretty happy. Interested to see the later Android version

Hey man great video I followed your instructions and installed the QB8060CCS into my 2008 bmw 328i the radio and aux are working as well as the screen but the bluetooth and built in audio are not transmitting the audio. Any suggestion?

I haven't done this but I have the problem with my subwoofers deactivating in the middle of a song and the only way to kick them back on is to crank my volume to max until the bass comes back.
With Andream unit, you do not have to feed the aux cable from centre console, it connects to AUX from behind the head unit.
is it possible to start the car always with an android instead of the original BMW system? or do I have to hold the menu button for 3 seconds each time? Thanks!

I have videos on my channel installing and using this unit. It was for a CIC system not CCC but no matter.
My main complaint about this screen is it has crazy glare. I installed an anti-glare film over top.

1 Were you able to get the sound you wanted out of the unit? Since there's a SD card slot, can I assume the new headunit is actually playing the music instead of CCC? Can you configure so the AVIN headunit uses the CCC sound system?
2 Were you able to get the steering wheel controls to work with the AVIN?
you mention there is an app you have to download in order for the phone to connect, which app is it?
I look at other CCC upgraded units and for some odd reason the OEM display is zoomed in I want a unit that shows it perfectly like this
Honestly, I wouldn't bother. I connected a Tune2Air bluetooth adapter in the center console for bluetooth music and have my phone in the ashtray (fits perfectly, never falls or slides out sideways) I also have a low-profile USB charger in the tray so I can close it without removing it. I wouldn't want to reach for the center touchscreen anyway. Easier to keep the phone separate.

One thing I don't know if you've figured out by now is that when you have android auto on you're suppose to use Google Assist with voice commands to do all your inputs like with Waze or Google Maps. You download Google Assistant to your Android phone then all you have to do is speak "hey google"...

I have the same android display for my 06 bmw 330i so my mechanic installed the display but no sound the music was playing but no sound. by looking at your video I noticed the aux cable you had needed to be plugged into aux out and ran through the center and plugged into the aux in the armrest. I noticed he didn't do that but I do have a aux in my armrest. It's a new display! We hooked everything but since he rushed it I don't think all the cables are together. Plus my CCC navigation unit has been repaired and coded. Now my sound comes on with the old display but not with the android display I bet it's the aux cord to the armrest. Need help🙏🏼

I accidentally removed the 3 pins that power the fan on the back of the CCC cd unit. I see In Your video when you removed the main quad lock harness you have red tape on them. Are you able to tell me which pins in that 12 pin block the wires are attached to? There is a white data wire then a brown black striped negative and then a red black stripe positive I believe. I forgot to take a picture and now don’t know which to hook them up to. Please help. You can see them just barely at 5:45. Thanks in advance. 🙏🏻

Very nice video. It helped me install my device but I have one problem. It does't work to switch over "Menu Button" long press "3s", only tap on the screen "Car-info". Do you know where the problem might be?
I'm hoping you can help me, I have this unit installed in my BMW, my friend tried to hook his phone up to my system, pressed a couple of times in the menu section, and now all I have is FM radio! also when originally hooked up the ccc interface just gave me a purple screen, so I cannot reset back to the new android head. any advice would be appreciated!
i just purchased a used 335i and it has this exact same android auto interface, i can bounce back and forth between idrive and this..... its pretty annoying considering i have an iphone... and it always interupts my bluetooth, its useless to me. I saw some other videos of aftermarket systems similar to this one but they can use android auto and apple car play , do u know if this one has apple car play as well?

Hi nice video, I installed it too. But I cann't select the AUX anymore, although I connected the AUX-out from the harness to my aux contact in the mid console.

Hi! Just installed the Android headunit on BMW 5 e60 2007, and the fan in old main headunit keep working after car shut down, or completely close/lock. Any idea why that could be?
Thanks for the video, good information, I have the unit for my BMW E90 form Avin USA I set it up the other day but I am having a major. Issue similar to what you were talking about in your video about the Bluetooth calling. Whenever I receive a call the Bluetooth screen take over the radio and I am locked out from using any other app. Until I end the call, Waze navigation stop moving and stop giving direction. I cannot keep the call going and get any other app on the radio. Same thing happen if I’m using android auto, not the same way you use it off your phone but with a USB CarPlay dongle. if you don’t mind can you please do a test on your unit and see if you are using Waze and receive a call if you’re radio locked up. Can you use any other app while on the call over Bluetooth. And if you had the same issue did you find a solution. Also can you get some more detail information about what app and device you are using to mirror your phone. look forward to your answer thank you

and I converted the optical cable. but now have an emergency malfunction in my dashboard. did I do something wrong and is that error related to the optical cable?
i have an aftermarket headunit from BRENNAN i cant get the sound to work the screen works great , if the ccc navigation and dvd box isnt working will this prevent the sound ffrom working?
How do you get the new cable harness so that it doesn't get in the way with the DVD module? It hits me with the new cable, and I can't get the module to fit. do you leave it in a hole? I'm desperate!☹️😝
I noticed you ran the aux cord into your glove box. Please don't tell me that is the only way to link the sound to the car. What about the line ins and rca cables, can't they be used as the main sound output?
You probably already know this, but just as a contribution to the collective readership - it could be your Bluetooth receiver or your phone that is causing your lackluster lows. Most current Bluetooth codecs are pretty poor at dealing with high fidelity sound, so unless you're using a receiver with aptX or similar (along with a phone that supports it), you would be better off just using the aux in.

Hello, i got the android 10 gps for my bmw e87 from 2007 with CCC. I installed the gps everything works but when i throw it in reverse i have to go on MY BMW for seeing my parking sensors on my screen. Do you know how i get automaticly on my screen? Hi, never done this before so please bare with me.....I’ve received a ccc Android replacement unit for an 08 335i convertible from China...when I connect the new harness into the back of the cars GPS unit, I can’t get the unit to go back in because of the extra wiring at the back, I’ve tried every way stripping the skin off the top of my hands every time but can’t get the GPS unit back in fully to attach with the four Philips screws. I’ve viewed just about every install video out there but they seem to miraculously skip over this part and seem to slide the unit back in without problem. Any thoughts, tips, prior install experience or general help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Im thinking about this but my car doesnt have oem camera and wonder how can you install it to work with this android based head unit. Also is it work with an (orm) head-up-display? Also my car only have an aux at the back seats and doesnt have any usb slot. (E60 with big navi, ccc)
Hello I am not able to see my contacts via the bluetooth of the mi 9t pro and I have already put the bluetooth connection with contact sharing, any ideas on how to solve it? I'm also not able to add gps apps, I can install it but it doesn't appear on the list to put it as a default, any ideas? Thanks in advance and some help would be very welcome!
You mentioned that you have your default navigation to be WAZE. My default is on an sd card and it is some gps system which came with the android. How do I replace the gps system that came with the android to WAZE?

How is this unit different from navifly? Can you chage the skin? The EVO Navifly UI looks better IMO.
can you make a video where you show your settings? I have the same radio but I can do it for example not operate with the knob and the Bluetooth does not work either.
Did you connect the camera? If yes did you use the 12v provided by the head unit (there is a cable on mine saying 12v camera). Also there is a pink cable, which says camera sensing or something like that..
My BMW has a stupid Japanese iDrive and its in NZ... and they want $799 to convert the GPS, $399 to do the radio, and another $499 for blutooth intergration...
Any chance this thing will fix that if I swapped it out?
Very nice! But I’m concerned the music quality is not as good as the sound of my Logic 7 system with my after-market Bavsound speakers along with my Earthquake subs under the seats and amp, especially with a flash drive full of 320K MP3 music files inserted into the USB drive in the arm rest. Any thoughts about how the Logic 7 sound processing compares to the sound being processed by the new Android system???

Okay so if you connect as I've shown here via a Bluetooth adapter then you can screen mirror and for sound connect via 6FL. You'll maintain the sound quality and be able to skip tracks via the stereo controls etc.
I’m wondering how responsive those gauges are and if it can load the mhd gauges with no issues. That’s what I’m super interested in. I’m very skeptical of flashing the dme through the head unit. The audio is kind of a bummer.
What about audio quality? In my 2008 BMW e92 I have originally CCC navigation professional with HIFI audio system and what I am concerned about is after changing it to android head unit the sound quality gets worse.

My E60 2008 528i only has Bluetooth connection to accept cellphone calls , it is the first generation. Is this Android base screen giving me an option for streaming music from my cellphone or it relies on car's Bluetooth system ? If I want to keep the head unit the way it is can I just replace screen without going through all the steps ?!
