BMW Fanatic. What are the part numbers for those wires you bought, for the screen and also the Combox?
So I made the 6 hour round trip drive from DC-Phila today to have Nick install this for me. I had been asking him questions for a few months and was apprehensive about a few things, most of all my ability to make things worse, and completely botch this seemingly straightforward install. I decided that I was not comfortable doing this install, so I reached out to him last weekend and asked if he would do it for me if I drove up to meet him. I didn't think he'd agree because of the extra labor, but he did! He did install essentially the same way as shown here, with additional time to remove and replace trunk trim in order to bypass the HD tuner above the rear passenger tire (the unit has a built in HD tuner). Also because of this step, I have AM radio; which I do not listen to, but it is nice to have the option. After install he made sure that I was okay with his work, and went through all the menus and sub menus with me. He also let me know that he offers a 6 month warranty (with full replacement, as is mentioned here I think), and map updates for all buyers (2020 coming soon). I have not used all the features of the CIC, but already it is a massive improvement over the old clunkier CCC system. It is more responsive, is more user friendly, has more features, is more expandable/upgradeable (with combox), and equally important, just looks a lot sharper. I already had the CIC controller installed myself years ago, so I do like the shortcut keys, but obviously this is not necessary whatsoever, and is mostly a matter of personal preference. Nick brought all supplies, tools and protective covering, and left everything as it was when he started. Whether you have him do it for you, or purchase this and install yourself, I can unequivocally say that this was the right move on my part, after months of hesitation, and definitely is a major improvement to the E90 pre-LCI model year cars. there is a special slot for the usb connector. on the left side of the glovebox behind the glovebox shocks there is a plastic cover that you need to remove and there you usb will plug. perfect fit, original location.
Pre LCI cars have a flashlight there.
since 2005 was discontinued (at least in Europe) and his car does not have that, and its the same shape as for the usb slot.
Great retrofit! You Should upgrade the cic's old hard drive to an SSD to make it a lot quicker as well as quicker boot ups

Nice work man . I recommend setting some of ur quick buttons on dash to oil check and Bluetooth audio in addition to ur other presets .It’s nice to have one touch for these features . 👍

One of the first things that I did with mine after accidentally scratching the CID with a microfiber .. I installed a a anti glare screen protector from Amazon.. it’s been 4 years now and was the best move. The anti glare coating on the CID is very delicate and will scratch just by looking at it.

So I have a 2010 BMW 535xi. Yesterday the idrive screen flashed red for a split second. When Idrive rebooted my navigation is now greyed out. Holding down volume button reset did not fix the issue everything else works fine. Would you have any idea what's wrong. Thanks in advance. Great video by the way👍

Yes. It does. You buy it from various websites. I bought mine from Bimmertech. Be warned that you need to do your homework. For example, if your car does not currently have gps the wiring for the antenae will need to be routed through your dash. Also, if your car does not already have a mic and blue tooth youll also need a combox which is extra.
Plus i found i had to do lots of little mods using a Dremel etc to fit the post lci multi functional controller. All told cost me about 2300 euro and i had to learn to strip my interior to pieces and out it back together. Defo worth it though as now i have my entire music database on the cars harddrive and my passengers can watch movies on long drives.
Not the one that I have here, but there are other alternatives out there
Does the Connected Drive and Oil level check work?
Man I wish this showed where to plug up the pink Sat cable to... everything else works except my Nav.
You should have kept the twisted green together rather than "unraveling" it. It's an instrumentation earth hence should be twisted for minimal mutual inductance on the other cables :)
Instead of working on T-shirt sales, try putting important links like where you/we can but these CIC unit kits. "Nick" must be some secret squirrel sales person/DIY seller..

I appreciate the effort you’ve put in and it was interesting watching the install process, but the fact that the whole process requires that I get a kit from someone makes this feel less like a DIY and more like doing it with someone else doing the hard stuff for you. So, what's the reason for changing this? Does this solve the 2g/3g problem? How would I know which TCU I need to purchase to ensure it is 4G?

What about differences in controls CCC vs CIC? I you didn't change buttons and selection wheel near the gear selector, although CIC has totally different configuration there

My question is what steps are needed to unlock the satellite radio? Mine has the codes for the prep as I discovered during my VIN decoding. Right now I’m utilizing an aftermarket setup through the auxiliary. I figured if I pull the plug to do something like this, I would want to have it all through the head unit.

Hi thanks for the awesome videos, iv e just replaced my e60 motherboard with one from an e90 lci that had pre set buttons when i try it with my faceplate it doesnt work but works perfect with the e90 faceplate.

I have a 2009 BMW 328i. Is it possible to retrofit a new dash and put that new android screen? I dont want to cut into my dash I want all those functions with a screen and rear view camera. I want to make my car look oem.
My ( E90 ) 3 series came with a CCC from Factory, the screen after 17 years is almost dead, at this time, i see there are so many choices out there, if this the current best choice right now, any suggestions please ?

Anyone knows how to code a standard "Professional" E90 LCI radio so that it will accomodate a Hi-Fi retrofit? I.e. tweeters front and back and amplifier in the trunk. My car hasn't got a navigation, it has the basic stereo system with 4 speakers + 2 subwoofers under the front seats.

My car was a non_idrive unit and I ended up updating the professional system to a nav-professional one cic but if I had done my research more I wouldve gone with an NBT. The head unit was cheap and out of a 2013, get the Chinese head unit and video cable and install was easy. hard part is getting everything to work just because theres no good writeup out there.
