- In this video I install the new and improved Android 8.1 CCC navigation upgrade for my E90 BMW. This will work with all E9X models that came with an 8.8" CCC navigation system from the factory. This also applies to all E6X models and the overall installation and experience would be similar for any CIC equipped car.
This new model has 2 GB of memory and a six core processor for improved speed. Most importantly (for me at least) it has a stronger DAC or digital to analog converter for improved sound, especially in the bass department.
This really brings the car up to date in terms of infotainment and works with your factory iDrive controller.

I’ve had one installed on my e90 for about 9 months and it’s brilliant. Google maps sat nav, Spotify and the JB4 app all work brilliant. Well worth the money!!!

Kyle Durkin I’d try and find why your existing one isn’t working first. Could be a fuse or on some models they stupidly put the idrive module under the spare wheel compartment where it can fill with water and damage it

Yes it does.
Seems like a great upgrade for people with the more reliable 03/2007+ CCC system. It is a bit pricey at $600 with the most adapter required for logic 7 and individual audio cars. Please do a six month update with the current status of the system.
Will do, I have logic 7 and did not require a most adapter for install. Your fiber optic cable just moves over to the new harness.

@@VehicularDIY So after installing this Android Head Unit, the sound quality of my Logic 7 will not change? This is what is really an issue for me, I know some people have sound issues after installing such aftermarket upgrades.

I ordered this product because of this video. I got super excited for it. After getting it installed, it's clear they did not give me the same one as in this video. The operating system on the one I got is absolutely awful. I bought the model that he linked in the description

I'm not sure how to explain it very well, but the pictures on the website show menus and options that i just don't have. my menu looks completely different and out dated. @@jordanking1303 Yeah no worries, in the beginning of the video I said I specifically only recommend the exact model I'm installing in this video. There are two other versions out there one with android 4.4.4 and 7.1, we'd need to verify you ended up with the 8.1 version and not 4.4.4. Agreed! I don't think a good Android unit exist to be honest....
Its a nice upgrade, but my goodness, the deconstruction alone opens up a scary world or mistakes. So many clips you can break, screws you can forget, wires you can leave less than snug. You basically have to take apart the entire interior of your car.
Good video, does it integrate with the factory OBC functions? For example oil level, tyre pressure, service counter, heat distribution etc?
Did you find out if this unit does integrate with the OBC funtions?

UV off screen, Mercury gas, lead, what RF is emmitted, has it got shielding etc.
Weirdly also... this Seicane Android 9 unit for a 2009 335i Convertible does not have an off button and constantly stay on causing a power drain fault error code. And it does not have fader/balance controls, but rather only equalizer available.
Is the main sounds source traveling through the aux. If so that is a huge bottleneck for the sound quality.
Cheers from another N54 E90 owner in Texas. I'm curious how you even came across this mod? All the BMW guys I know just shop for an E series without nav, so there isn't iDrive.... but this changes the game with the ability to view MHD gauges in the factory display. So much win.... keep up the good work.

Tempted to buy from Seicane for my f12.. I feel like there are a bunch of negative videos out there, but this video was really helpful... PLUS it's on a BMW. When you start up does it do anything odd? For example I just like how my OEM screen does the normal bmw screen menu. Does this automatically passthrough to that, or is there a big Seicane logo and Chinese characters for example
i have the old one too. you did remove too much and for the most people is the hardest to get the aux cable connected to the armrest. most people understand that this part is a msut to get sound and in discreption this part no detailed write down. for a new unit i would do it too. in german, maybe in english with less removing. i have conntect a wireless rear camera too. but nice to see the new generation. is the display changed to see all in sun yet too? carplay too. wifi carplay must come in these units....
how is the sound quality vs stock? did you need opt fiber cable my car has fac aux. can you still check oil and all settings from the radio? by the way great vids!!!!!

Hi bud 👋. Did the GPS splitter work well with the head unit?. Seems a sensible thing to do rather then mounting the one provided. Essentially will do this myself if it worked well for you. 🇬🇧
You make it look SO easy. Meanwhile I just fought with the glovebox of my pre-facelift E60 and it sure as hell doesnt come off instantly after removing those 6 screws. Sigh.

How do you connect to the WiFi? Is there a setting in the menu?
My big issue with these products is that you still need to tether your mobile to it for any internet access. Is there a way around it? This would make this product truly 100%

I have the system. But when I put the radio on I don’t hear the navigation instructions from waze. Is there a setting that I have to chance ?
The video is great? Am I right to assume the iDrive on the console is how you are navigating through the menu? Also, are you using the original radio and just replacing the screen? My system is exactly what your showing in your video but navigation quit loading on my unit and the whole thing shuts down and reboots about every 3 minutes.
My ccc unit is bad i a have a black screen that sometimes blinks..could install this unit without fixing the ccc unit?
I don't understand why it requires AUX for audio. Can't it just connect directly just like the original? That's kind of a downside to me, it's not so neat.

I wanted to ask if I have to do something to startup the android headed menu by something like pressing or holding a key. Have seen something here on another video. Or is it showing up the android headed menu directly after firing up the car?

I just installed the seicane android 9 unit on my e93 335i N54 and all functions except no sound from youtube or any files from the android unit... radio play fine, can't use ipod anymore also.

What about the existing usb I put in the center armrest? Where does that connect to? Can one just connect it directly to the female USB input on the Seicone unit?
Edit: I realize now the CCC unit did not have that. I’ll have to find a CIC diagram.

The one thing I’m most curious about regarding this install would have to be; does the original iDrive system still work? Will I still maintain my original built in nav functionality ON TOP of the newly added functions?

Had one of these professionally fitted to my 2013 x3. iDrive is unchanged - just better resolution. I have mine set up to go to CarPlay on a nav request (setable in the Android shell). If I want HUD directions I’ll add as destination before I go to CarPlay. I hardly use the Android shell at all. To get back to iDrive is just a long press on menu.

yes well i see this i think of one thing wat if you have the orginal radio console is broken ?? i had a E91 that where the orginal radio and gps device juste had stop working . i replaced it wiht a android radio but no way to get the screen working . befor i buy it i have ask 20 tome if it compatible on the orginal screen also they say it is they even have had a photo place on the web side that show me a E90/ 91 where the screen was present but not lit up ? even the can bus was not workin right . so wat do you recomand to somme one having this issu ?? ( ps i dont have that car no more but it a general question . ) and i dont think there is somme thing like that for a M235i

I really want to get one of these for my e92 but all of the wiring worries me, I know nothing about car electrics or wiring and this looks very complicated to me sadly.
It's a real shame because I really like the look of the unit and the features it has over the standard ccc unit I have right now.
You can buy these from aliexpress.com that's where I got my past two android radios from. They typically get shipped via DHL. However, warranty in this case can be tricky so bear that in mind.

Hello, how can i disable going around in the original menu when i use idrive in id7? Whenever i play with idrive in id7 menu, when i go back to original car menu i see that i play also with original f30 menu, it may be dangerous since you may change a setting without noticing.....
Hey man, great install video. Looks a lot easier than I would have imagined. Questions though: I have an 08 E92 with CCC nav, and my MULF module is fried, so the USB and AUX in in the center console don't work. Do you know if this system is bypassing the MULF making it unnecessary, or do you think I would have problems with the AUX/USB with this setup as well? My CCC control knob and head unit work fine otherwise.

I have a PX6 Android like yours and was wondering if the OEM retrofit heads-up display work with the app running on the android head unit?
Also did BMW fix the Garmin app license issue?
Would you recommend the HUD after using it for some time? - Is it not possible to make it look more clean?
One last thing. The newest firmware (release date 20.05.2019) for the PX6 fixes the sound quality (Not the Aux input noise but the sound chip).
If you can’t get the steering wheel controls working with Spotify and other 3 party apps, just start the integrated music payer, hit back and open Spotify, then the next and prev. song buttons work (Arrow up / Down).
I use an APP that starts the two music players at startup in the write order, then it works every time you start the unit. (App - Boot Apps)
