    It's a great catch, the fact that in the Elder Council Chambers in Oblivion, there's just the chancellor is a big oversight. In Ebonheart, you do get to meet the Council, even if they don't offer any quests and it adds a lot to the immersion.

      The Council you meet in Ebonheart is the Grand Council of Morrowind though, not the Elder Council.

    Would love to see a video about farming in tamriel. Morrowind and oblivion both have some really interesting machines. Skyrim has a few. ESO shows us a widespread variety of crops, agricultural decisions, and problems. Etc. The lady that cultivates nirnroot, or the people who grow ash yams. There's a lot to be had with something like this.

    I always assumed the inner council to consist of: The Lord High Chancellor (Ocato) as its chair, The Imperial Legion Commander with sway over the military, The Grandmaster of The Blades/Commander of the Penitus Oculatus as the one in charge of Imperial Intelligence, The Imperial Battlemage as the head of magical affairs, The Leader of the East Empire Company due to their massive economic influence, Somebody else who is in charge of overall economic affairs (a steward of some kind), The Leader of the Imperial Cult in charge of religious matters, and three advisory positions reserved for the most well-connected members of the Empires Elite probably provincial kings like Symmachus

    The Elder Council, despite being one of the most powerful and important organizations in Tamriel, has such relatively sparce information on it. Cool to see this video on it and the speculative design at the end is indeed quite interesting.
    With the way the power dynamics of the Elder Council are in the 4th era, it seems possible it might do a reverse Rome and go from being an Empire into a Republic. It will be intriguing to see what current open-ended theories will turn out to be true.

    When I first learnt of the Elder Council I pretty much regarded it as a medieval incarnation of the Roman senate. Like how it might've been organized had the Roman Empire as an organisational entity survived into the Middle Ages. It's an epic governmental body really, and the balance between it and the Emperor is a fine art as to achieve ideal governance. Although I'm all for the Emperor's ultimate authority of course as a loyal son of the Empire!

      I played elder kings in ck2 the elder council is usually annoying since aristocrats will always vote against your interests as emperor.
      The empire takes into account the opinion of all councilors the disappearance of those who voted against the ruler is a coincidence.

    they should probably rename the Elder council to the Imperial Senate or something if they're doing things like voting on policy and legislation. The Elder Council was a governing body of the time of Dragonborn emperors, which by their very nature are LITERALLY Divine Right Sovereigns. Since Dragonborn are no longer needed to be Emperor to keep Oblivion at bay, the nature of the Cyrodiilic Imperial State has changed drastically. now it's no longer LITERALLY the most important State on Nirn, it's one Nation among many. the Cyrodiilic Empires were only the way they were because their dynasties were LITERALLY deigned to rule by the Gods. Empires in the real world are all built upon a lie of some kind. but the Cyrodiilic Empires were able to bypass that by LITERAL DIVINE INTERVENTION. now that intervention is no longer available, the Empire will eventually, gradually, die, as all Empires inevitably do. in the meantime they will need to legitimize their rule beyond Divine Right. the Only answer I can think of for the 4th era Empire is as the only thing that can stand against the madness that is the Thalmor, but that would take some time to be seen as legitimate, and would require the Empire holding back against the Thalmor better in the next war. Titus Mede II would NOT be able to do such, as he is seen as the coward who bent to the Thalmor.

    Where can we read these novels?

  • @TheVioletBunny
    @TheVioletBunny Рік тому +1

    So I posted a thread on the eso forum about this topic no one seems to have an answer.
    So for post morrowind games we have the levitation act to explain away no levitation.
    Since eso is before arena clearly that act doesn’t apply.
    In eso you can not cast a full on levitate spell to traverse lands like morrowind or float up like Daggerfall to get through areas in a dungeon etc
    People said “but it is in eso npcs levitate” but all they do is hover above like vivec and there is an emote or momento that makes you hover like that form the psijic order skill line. That is not proper levitation spells.
    I’m just wondering if there is any way to explain this away ? There are many aspects of elder scrolls online that just doesn’t give legit reasons for developer limitations as there are in the main series and it breaks immersion.

    • @toytacambery9427
      @toytacambery9427 Рік тому +2

      I would say perhaps levitation magic hadn't been studied enough to be as advanced in 2E 582 (ESO) as it is in 3E 427 (Morrowind), over 700 years later. The timeline of ESO is very close to early (1st era) history when magic was evolving so much. I would say magic is always evolving, or devolving, in the Elder Scrolls universe.
      However, I don't have a degree in Aetherial Properties and Concepts of Magic. So I tend to suspend my disbelief and use my imagination so I can actually have fun enjoying the parts of the game that I like. That goes for every game I play.

    • @TheVioletBunny
      @TheVioletBunny Рік тому

      @@toytacambery9427 yes I get that and most people assume it wasn’t refined or perfected and was in its infancy… however I wonder why the developers didn’t actually make a lore reason for this in writing.. as they did to explain it away in the later games after morrowind.

    • @toytacambery9427
      @toytacambery9427 Рік тому

      @@TheVioletBunny you just said it yourself. There wouldn't be much written about it if it's not been advanced past it's basic uses. You have to remember that Tamriel is much larger in the lore than it is in game. Our player characters can interact with what the devs put into the game, but there could be writings about it (in lore), that we don't have access to in game.

    • @TheVioletBunny
      @TheVioletBunny Рік тому

      @@toytacambery9427 I mean they could literally have a book from a mage in game that explains their story how magic is being developed etc etc it’s in its beginning staged just something to remind the player head canon is neat and all but that’s not actually canon to make the world more realistic the more the devs add to the world building the greater the world becomes.

    • @toytacambery9427
      @toytacambery9427 Рік тому

      @@TheVioletBunny I'm not stating head canon. They have said themselves that the game worlds are scaled down from the lore. So, you aren't going to be able to interact with every character, location, or book if the world is scaled down. Things are going to be left out.
      There are some places and things the player character never gets to explore or interact with simply because they dont appear in the game. You're just going to have to accept that.
