    Who Am I?
I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands and makers as well as the collectors!
In this channel, I will give information found in my research about the brand, the construction, and the materials, but I will express my personal opinions about how I feel about the boots reviewed.

I keep coming back to your channel. I really like your reviews and feel that my taste in boots runs very similarly to yours. Between you reviewing them and Rose Anvil sawing them in half, I feel very well informed. Keep it up, I appreciate what you do!

Ordered a Fortis Military Chukka, waiting on it to be produced and shipped, based on your excellent information. Just the best, most useful boot information on UA-cam. Thank you.

Thank you Teik for the thorough review. Not a lot of people highlighting the quality of local Indonesian leather so it's usually overshadowed by the imported ones.

Thanks to your original video, I've gotten two MTO boots from Sany and Fortis and have been very happy with them. The local crazy horse leather is excellent especially for those into patina.

Lovely review Teik. Thanks to you introducing me to the brand Sany is actually working on my third pair of Fortis now. Very nice quality and great value. I also asked him to modify the last to reduce the room in the forefoot.

I highly recommend you build up a collection of insoles the same way you have built up a boot collection. It really does make getting boots to fit much easier (assuming they are not too tight).
Over decades I have purchased literally dozens of different off the shelf insoles that offer more arch support or more cushioning or are heat mouldable or are very thin to take up a little volume (or to replace a thicker insole). Various models from brands such as Superfeet and Healthy Step (who supply to the medical profession in the UK) and many other brands .
I even have saved some of the better insoles from long gone running shoes.
Often insoles fit very comfortably at the heel and mid-foot but are too thick at the toes and I have ones with varying toe thickness as well as arch support
This might be because thirty years ago I needed custom orthotics (though have since moved away from them) and have somewhat challenging bony, narrow but long feet
Now, if I purchase a boot and it does not fit well after a few wears ( a wear usually being a walk of a few miles) I can usually adjust the fit to be much more comfortable.
I do usually err on the side of larger size rather than smaller but coming from a hiking background and knowing what long descents can do to your toe nails, I think this a sensible approach.
I think it might be worthwhile doing a video on fit and the different factors that can make a boot fit poorly as it is surprising how many people don't really know their feet.
They might know a couple of measurements but factors such as the height of the big toe (does it raise up when you walk), depth of the ball of the foot, how much padding your soles have, how much your feet swell in hot weather and at the end of the day, can all affect the comfort significantly.
I get the impression people buy boots that fit like dress shoes which is why you get a lot of complaints.
TLDR : I'm a martyr to my feet but have learned how to compensate for this.

I feel you about the poor stock rotation. My collection is minute compared to yours but having similar dilemma. I love my chelsea but its very hard to get the right fit on the vamp area when I skinny/bony feet

Hi, Tek! Great review from a beautiful part of WA. I visited the Margaret River a few years ago on a wine tasting tour and really enjoyed the wineries.
You wore a very nice jacket in the introductory part of the video - would you mind sharing who made it? Also, you described the leather as "Crazy Horse". What type of leather cleaner or protector for this type of leather?

    • @Bootlosophy
      @Bootlosophy  11 місяців тому

The jacket’s from R M Williams - see the review on my channel a few weeks ago. I mentioned in the video conditioning with Bick 4

What boot conditioner do use on crash horse leather? I would like to try Bick 4 to not darken the leather.
