Using Obenauf's LP, I found it applies best when already wet/melted. Pre-heat the container a bit (indirectly, like near a stove) or point one of your vintage heated hair dryers at the open top to melt some of the product. Or rub your hands, heating them with the friction, and using your warm fingers to melt some of the product. Then apply the product to the leather while wet. It will eventually cool and return to protective waxy solid within the leather fibers and not just on the surface. Applying liberally while it's wet will also allow you to give the leather all it will take so that you can gauge when it's reached proper saturation and move on to another area.

i use lp on the boot oil on the edge of my boots. and i have wore them for hiking , fire, and even hiking in snow to cut a christmas tree for many years and they hold up well. on Whites Nicks and Franks both rough out and smooth out as well.

Obenaufs LP is a great product. Ive always preheated the leather with a heat gun to open the pours then apply. The only thing i can say you didn't mention is always give the stitching some live as well. Just found this channel and you have a new subscriber. Take care brother.

No idea why my first comment disappeared, so lets try again:
Glad to see you take good care of your boots.
This is what sustainability means to me: buying high quality items and taking care of them, so they will last a long time.
Not cheap plastic stuff that will inevitably end up in a landfill in a year or so.
    Merry Christmas from Germany

Great video really enjoyed seeing what you’re doing. The Nicks boots particularly are starting to look fantastic. The patina is unbelievable my idea of giving your boots some Lovin is burying my face in them. Could’ve done without seeing your Chelsea’s.

I am very happy for you reaching out +6K subscribers (well deserved!!).
I watch a lot “dry creek wrangler school” videos, I like a lot his message.
Regarding Boot conditioner, it’s coming home “Bick 4” that I will use in my 2 month old RW 1907.
    Well, Merry Christmas everybody!!!
    Cheers from Spain!

Chic as in "sheek" as in style.
    Those hairdryers are slick though
    Kil-tee 😊
Don't forget to mention that the day before, that these were cleaned and let dry for a day

    • @GentlemansJourney
      @GentlemansJourney  9 місяців тому

Yeah I try to mention that when I actually clean them, neither of these boots necessarily needed a cleaning on my estimation but certainly good practice! Many conditioners state that they are cleaner/conditioner which will suffice when boots are not terribly dirty. Cheers and Merry Christmas 🎅 🥾🥾

I've used it on leather jackets but never shoes. It absorbs well and has kept my jackets well conditioned for many years. It does change the color of leather, so I only use it on black leather.

Since my boots are leather lined i use the oil inside and wax outside.
Also i spend a lot of time in the rocky mountains and or fields. I use paracord for shoe laces.
Since i always carry extra paracord for use on just about anything if i ever break a lace (which hasnt happened yet) i have more with me.
    Great video thanks again!!
    Cheers

Use Kevlar laces. They are very very very tough

@@Tallnerdyguy i guess i should have been a little more specific. The paracord i use is the "high end" which i believe is along the same if not close.
