This video has a lot of hidden meaning. This was written at a time of loss for the band. It's about them having to feel all the feelings that come with loss to move forward. The video represents them killing their old selves (the guys getting killed are all wearing their old masks) They are all dying to their worst fears. The first guy sid couldn't do his job without his hands so he eats his own hands. Mick is shy so he tears his face off. Pinhead is terrified of dogs, Chris is terrified of birds, Corey is scared of being forgotten and disappearing so he screws up lyrics and blows himself up. Jim is scared of being blown up, clown is scared of being hung and burning. The 2 people being stabbed ate the new band members being inducted into the band. I hope this helps.
Close interpretation, but missing some stuff and few incorrect hings. There is actually an interview with Clown that explains most of the deaths. So There is a ton of symbolism within this music video and the lyrics are them finding the devil within themselves, past things, becoming one with those things and then doing away with them. So here is just a list of bullet points for symbolism within the video. 1. Each band member was allowed to choose how they died. They all chose what they did for different reasons. 2. Sid's death (DJ) - As a DJ, his fingers are his tools and he cannot play without them and he doesn't want to lose that, so he chose to eat his fingers off. 3. Mick (guitarist)- Wanted to isolate himself and disappear so he rips himself apart 4. Jay and Vinnie (drummer/bassist)- The 2 newest members of the band are not seen playing instruments (they are the ones strapped in straight jackets/wheelchairs). Their deaths are that they are murdered/stabbed by the other band members as an acceptance in the band/family or their initiation. They are allowed to be seen playing instruments after their deaths. 5. Corey (lead singer) - He is the front man and it was only appropriate for his head to blow up. He chose it. 6. Craig (samples) - That's his actual dog that he personally owns and he loves that dog. He just wanted to die from his dog in a gory way. 7. Chris (percussionist) - Afraid of birds and couldn't think of a worse way to die. 8. Jim (guitarist) - Full body explosion (no reason given, just probably a gnarly death if you listen to some of his interviews) 9. Clown (percussionist) - Sets himself on fire and hangs himself. Pretty much a fuck it, I'm done, you can clean up the mess type message. 10. The people writhing in straight jackets in the background are a homage to their fans (Maggots). They say their fans bouncing around and jumping looks like a pile of maggots and wanted to include them in their video. 11. The 2 red cloaked people are the 2 band members that had left from the previous album (Paul former bassist who died of an overdose and Joey former drummer "RIP man, died in 2022" was removed from the band as he had a condition that made him lose function in his legs for a long time). Think that about covers it. It's a super deep song and an even deeper video. Just shows how creative they are with their craft.
i believe the point of the video is to destroy their old selves and start anew since this was the first album with a new drummer and bassist after a lot of interband drama and turmoil
@@eduardolucas4434 I always loved how they never actually showed them with the band until they were "killed" and then you see Jay on drums and V-Man on bass.
Actually Stone Sour was Corey Taylors first band, but most people know him from Slipknot of course. Slipknot guitarist Jim Root was also a member of Stone Sour for a long time until he got kicked out in late 2013. You should definitely check out some Stone Sour songs since it shows Coreys more melodic side in many of them. I'm more into their older stuff so some suggestions would be 'Through Glass', 'Bother' or 'Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero'.
The lead singer Corey Taylor is insanely talented and (like you mentioned) has his own band Stone Sour. His solo live performances are amazing as well. I’m not a big metal guy but I love slipknot. If you can get past the shock value stuff a lot their songs have deep meaning
It’s a hazing video. The ones being stabbed were the 2 new members. Usually SlipKnot changes masks each new album cycle. If you notice the masks are different at the beginning compared to the end. So this is them destroying their old selves, and showcasing their new masks. The new members came after a lot of inner turmoil in the band, with the classic line-up changing due to the bassist dying from overdose and the drummer departing. So the two new guys are in the wheelchairs and getting essentially “hazed” or “jumped” into the band by being stabbed. There is always meaning behind slipknots violence. It’s not just senseless shock violence.
Yeah, Corey Taylor is in slipknot has the band Stone Sour and does a few solo things. But Stone Sour is really good. My favorite album is of course the first album from cover to cover. It’s great.

Yes and Jay and V-Man only appear playing after being "killed" too, that would be the beginning of a new path for them too
The point is destroy our evil within...kill, cut, destroy the evil within
Agreed.

Very first Slipknot song I've ever listened to back in like 2015 or 2016 and got me into listening to more of their songs.

Slipknot - Solway Firth.
This one’s a banger, and I am sure Amanda will love the video to it 😜
I loved the reaction, She did not have dinner that day and he was enjoying it way too much the subtle smirk during the deaths was hilarious.
epic track from an epic band

You can tell the dude on the right was loving the song even without any reaction

Do nero forte by slipknot
Yeah, Corey Taylor is in slipknot has the band Stone Sour and does a few solo things. But Stone Sour is really good. My favorite album is of course the first album from cover to cover. It’s great.
The ‘why’ is to shock.
Like Alice, Ozzy, Marilyn…
As the decades pass, one must “up the ante”, if they wish to shock people.
Scares parents=$
You guys would have a blast if you reacted to Song #3 by Stone Sour.
