Three songs I would strongly recommend from Slipknot, from 3 drastically different points in their creative process, are "Wait and Bleed", "Duality", and "Snuff". And if you do "Snuff" do yourself the service of watching the official music video, they turned it into a short film featuring Malcolm McDowell.

The stabbing of the two guys in the wheelchairs was their version of jumping in the new guys.. The original members have literally bled for the music and they needed to bleed for them to prove that they belonged.. of course it wasn't real.. but no one told them that during the filming. VMan has talked about seeing them all standing there with knives while they were tied up in the chairs unable to move and they all came after them and how terrifying it was until they started attacking and he felt the knives give way and it clicked in his head that they weren't actually trying to kill him, it was just a video.. still he might've bled a little bit because Clown, just not as much as the video makes it out. But then Clown is the guy that headbutted a sheetrock wall right before going on stage and split his forehead open and went on stage with it bleeding so.. he's not the most stable person. Oh and btw, Clown's the one that came up with this video and directed it.. he's the one that hung himself and lit himself on fire at the end.
The other symbolism in the imagery is also them killing off their old masks too, on top of facing their fears.

This was super powerful when I had first seen it, it hasnt lessened at all for me. This album was the first album to not have paul and Joey with them anymore. It broke my heart , RIP to them, this album was so emotional and helped me move on and digest a death of my closest childhood friend at the same time when it came out. I felt they had to kill their old selves, albeit in their own personal graphic carnage inducing selves, in order for them to move on from that point. New masks, new people moving on from the anguish and grief of what they all experienced. It is so crazy to watch, but from how I perceive it, it really makes me choke back tears thinking about that time. If you ever see this, could I suggest the song "goodbye" from these guys? It's from the grey chapter, same album the Devil in I is from, it's a song that I believe you could appreciate. Sending many many thank yous from Sacramento california 🖤💜🖤💜

In fact, maybe do part 1, then part 2 as it feels like the obvious course of action. I'm not sure if the Vermillions are about a break up or an unattainable idyllic version of a woman he wishes for, but in either case, it hits me right in the feels every time.

Love how you describe it as "machine gun sound"
Drummer here, that technique is literally called "machine gunning" because it yeah sounds like an automatic going off and its badass as fuck. We go to extreme lengths to get the perfect tone out of our bass drums. That perfect *click* where it lasts less than like half a second and cuts off perfectly. Cut holes in the skin, fill the drum will pillows and blankets. All the tricks.

This is a song that reflects them killing their former selves and things they feared (i.e. a fear of birds...and then crows peck your eyes out). Often the masks shown are those that the members wore previously (they change and update their masks constantly); and those were the versions of themselves they killed. I believe it was a catharsis following the death Paul Gray, a member of the band that was really a cornerstone and support to them all and the band at large.

You should react to Left Behind by Slipknot, you will like the song and the creepy video. Great reaction as well.

I read somewhere that the band members are living out their fears in this video. From being eaten alive, attacked by dogs/birds, and the new drummer being killed by the rest of the band...

If there is one consistancy with Slipknot, it's the video's they release for each single. Fans can be split on the discography, but the video's are normally pretty legit. You got some fun content ahead of you :)

Did you notice that most band members commit suicide in this video, except the bass player and the drummer. They get killed by all the other band members. Joey Jordison, former drummer of Slipknot, left the band in 2013 prior to the release of the album in 2014 (unfortunately he died in 2021). Paul Gray the original bass player died in 2010. That's why the Album which features this song is called "5: The Gray Chapter".

This is them facing some of their fears or whatever their "devil" is inside. The dude with the pinocchio mask is TERRIFIED of birds. He was freaking out so bad during the video shoot. It was also a nod towards their fallen bandmate, Paul Grey, who ODed. The devil he didnt conquer

I am also a huge tool fan and current subscriber if that gives my voice some credit lol

The drummer literally has an empty beer keg as part of his kit. Also, Corey Taylor is a F'ng legend.

Duality, Psychosocial , Spit It Out live & Nero Forte are great songs. My personal favorites are "Snuff" live acoustic and "Vermillion 2". Corey does have an amazing voice and can rap too!!!!

I know this is a few months old but I just got to your channel. Hopefully you see this. The song is a deep painful one for them. Their bassist passed away before this. The band always vowed never to be a band if all 9 members didn't come back. After a long grieving process they wrote this album and named it for their bassist. This song specifically was about having to kill off the parts of themselves that tortured them and wouldn't let go. They needed to let go and move on so they could keep doing what they loved.
The two characters that they stab to death in the video are the new bassist and drummer. They also kicked out the drummer for unspecified reasons during this time. Them killing them represented that the old them had to die as well so they could become a part of something new. The whole album and tour process for them was a long firm tryout to see if they could belong and they gave everything they should to the band the way they all have.
To that end the first single off the next album, they have their own masks and are a full member. You should check it out. It's called unsainted.

Best way to do it is to do the best song from each of their albums. I’ll list mine lol
    Self titled-(sic)
    Iowa (the heretic anthem)
    Vol. 3 (vermillion)
All hope is gone (psychosocial)-not technically my favorite but biggest hit
    .5 the gray chapter(devil in I)
We are not your kind (Nero Forte)
    The end, so far (Yen)
