As everyone else mentioned, Would I Lie To You is a great song and has a different dimension to it that might help you better understand her fantastic vocal and artistic range.
They had many hits! They are awesome! Annie had a very successful solo career too! One of my favorite songs she did was a duet with Al Green “Put a Little Love in Your Heart” I think you would like it! ❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
"Dont Ask Me Why", "Who's That Girl", "Here Comes the Rain Again", "Sweet Dreams", "Would I Lie to You?".... so, so good. Make sure you hit "Don't Ask Me Why". People overlook that to their loss. "Would I lie to you? Would I tell you something that wasn't true? I'm asking you, Sugar, would I lie to you?" -------------------- Ps: Glad you agree... I always found her appearance very beautiful and striking.
Eurythmics have sold an estimated 75 million records worldwide. Their awards include the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist in 1984, the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal in 1987, and the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 1999. They were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2020, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022. Eurythmics were a British pop duo formed in 1980, consisting of Scottish vocalist Annie Lennox and English musician and producer Dave Stewart. Peace out
So many hits to discover... Why, Don't Ask Me Why, Would I Lie to You, Thorn In My Side, Who's That Girl, I Need a Man, There Must Be an Angel, The Miracle of Love... and many more... No one hit wonder here.
Annie Lennox is absolutely incredible. She had a number of hits as a solo artist, including "Into the West" which was the theme song for Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Her voice is phenomenal. Also, no idea if exploring holiday-themed songs by contemporary artists is remotely on your agenda, but even if not, I strongly recommend "The Holly and The Ivy" sung by Annie Lennox. It is a very old English folk Christmas carol with incredible lyrics, and as she sings it, well, trust me, you will be moved to tears. Look for the live version Annie performed in 2010 (here on UA-cam).
That song was part of the Annie Lennox Christmas album, “A Christmas Cornucopia”. Note: Annie Lennox is an Agnostic, and she was born on Christmas Day.
Annie Lennox spent 20 years cracking the world as half of the Eurythmics with hit after hit, then she went solo and spent the next 20 years doing it all over again on her own terms. I'd recommend you give her solo material a listen as well. So many classics. You'll be surprised by how many you've at least heard the hook from.
Yeah, 'Thorn in my side', 'There must be an Angel' & 'I Need A Man'. Her solo hits to check are 'Walking on Broken Glass' , 'Sisters are doing it for themselves', Love song for a vampire'
Yes, the Eurythmics dropped hit after hit. Annie's voice is so strong and versatile, very powerful. I don't know a song I don't like from them. She pulled off the bald looked as well.
Definitely one of the best British female vocalists and Duos with Dave Stewart and I remember them when they were in 'The Tourists' -also some punchy pop songs. They did a cover called 'I only want to be with you' which went to number one I think. 1980 -ish?
There were so many good bands in the 80's you couldn't even keep up with all of them, and concerts were on fire, good clean fun, zero ref raff. Everyone bites off of the old hits.
It just blows my mind, how many bands I saw for under $5.00. I think Aerosmith was $2.00, Rush $2.50, Cheap Trick $3.00, and Blue Oyster Cult $4.00. I'm spoiled.
That's actually a cover written and performed by a band called The Lover Speaks who actually toured with the Eurythmics about 1985 she loved the song ,listen to the original think you will love it too
"Thorn in my side" is my favourite, but they did so many great songs... I am grateful that I was a teenager during the Eurythmics mania in the late 1980s early 1990s. Eurythmics and Roxette had a little "feud" back then.
Never gonna cry again 1981: first time they appeared on my radar. Still think its one of their best. Couldn't foresee the long string of hits that followed. And Lennox is such a charismatic, as you noticed;-)
You can’t beat the Eurythmics for fantastic music and lyrics. She has some of the best singing technique you’ll see - I use her as an example when I’m teaching people. And she’s hot as hell (and I’m not into women but hell…). She and Dave Stewart were a music marriage made in heaven…
Annie Lennox is one of the best female vocalists in pop music. The Eurythmics were huge and part of the New Wave era. I love this song released in 1983. The eighties was the best decade for pop music and New Wave was among my favorite. Those bands that came over from England were the soundtrack to my teenage years. My favorite band was (and still is) Duran Duran...check out their hits; "Hungry Like the Wolf", "Rio", "Girls on Film", "Wild Boys", "Notorious" (sampled by Biggie Smalls), "The Reflex", "Save A Prayer", and many, many more hits!! #DuranieForever💖💖
One of the most iconic bands of the 80's. They introduced America to a style of music and look that we had not really seen. MTV promoted this band heavily on their channel. So we got to see the beautiful Annie Lennox and amazingly talented Dave Stewart create these amazing songs & videos. The Eurythmics have a lot of hits - check out some of these: - "Sisters are Doin it For Themselves" duet with Aretha Franklin - "Love is a Stranger" - "Missionary Man" is a banger!!! - "Would I Lie to You" is a banger!!! - "Thorn in My Side" - "Beethoven"
My favourite band of the 80s. Some if their best songs are album tracks. "I need you" " better to have lost in love" My fav song is "its alright babys coming back" 😊
No one has mentioned her song Money Can't Buy It... Demi Moore danced to it in the movie Striptease. Love love Annie... Would I Lie To You... so many awesome songs!! Be Safe & Blessings EVERYONE ❣️
Annie and Dave Stewart were in a group called “The Tourists” years before they split to form the Eurythmics, check them out, they were great as well, tracks like “ The loneliest Man in the World”
IMHO, Eurythmics are the greatest band of the 80 and 90... oh my goodness... listen the "The Miracle of Love" Annie Lennox is stunning in looks and voice. I GUARANTEE The Miracle of Love will go on your play list.
My favourite Eurythmics album is actually “Savage,” which was the album they did to get back to their core philosophies after greater and greater success. There’s actually a full video album of it that sort of tells a single story, but you don’t need to approach it that way. Check out “I Need a Man,” “Shame,” and “(I Love to Listen to) Beethoven.”
So many incredible hits. A very sultry deep cut used in the movie 8 1/2 weeks is This City Never Sleeps. Her duet with Arethra Franklin Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves is FIRE.
Annie Lennox is so in control of her voice. You can tell she could belt out the notes but she holds it in so well. Dave Stewart is phenomenal as well in writing, production, concept etc.
She was and still is a teacher in Scotland. You wouldn't recognise her in the street. She was quite a bit older than most at the time. She's kept it apart. Amazing singer, her range is extraordinary. ❤ the eurythmics
I remember when this song first released and it STILL gives me goosebumps to this day. Whenever it rains or is cloudy and overcast I play this song and just soak up the atmosphere.
You can’t beat the Eurythmics for fantastic music and lyrics. She has some of the best singing technique you’ll see - I use her as an example when I’m teaching people. And she’s hot as hell (and I’m not into women but hell…). She and Dave Stewart were a music marriage made in heaven… ‘It’s alright… baby’s coming back’ is one of my all time fave songs (lesser known of there’s but I just love it)
Eurythmics were just so different at the time. There was a lot of artistic expression and experimentation in the early 90s UK but often with more enthusiasm than musical talent! Annie was classically trained and could sing most anything, Dave Stewart is still a very talented musician and producer, both true artists.
I haven't heard this in a long time...I always liked this better than the dreams one...why does it make me think of the movie "The Labrynth? lol...guess it just was out around then...this sounds so good, got my headphones on...thanks for doing this one. Have you ever listened to "Break My Stride," by Matthew Wilder? You may have heard it thru the years if you haven't tho.
Annie Lennox comes from Aberdeen, Scotland. Her Auntie taught me Spanish at school. What a voice, love the Eurythmics She was in a band called The Tourists first
One hit wonders! They were one of the biggest bands in the 80's! Try Love is a Stranger, Thorn in my Side, Sexcrime 1984, Sisters are Doing It for Themselves, Would I lie to You, Beethoven, King and Queen of America ......... the list is endless.............
Annie is such a great vocalist and Dave Stewart a genius. So many amazing songs, Thorn in My Side, Love is a Stranger, Beethoven, Sex Crime (1984), You Have Placed a Chill in My Heart etc. The Gift album from Annie is brilliant. No More I Love Yous cover of The Lover Speaks so good 🧡
Annie Lennox was incredible!!! Her vocal range was crazy!! Enjoy this deep dive! “Would I Lie to You” and “ I Need A Man” were and are incredible songs!!

One of my favorite bands. Dave Stewart did the arrangements and they really complimented each other well. A lot of her solo work is beautiful, but I felt like it misses a little something that they had as a band. Love is a Stranger is a great video worth checking out. And Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves, with Aretha, is amazing.
FOUR Octave range- one of the best female singers of the past 50- years
She is up there with one of the best female vocals I have ever heard.
She’s still got a beautiful voice ❤
One of their better ones to me.
Absolutely!
My favorite female singer!

Next Eurythmics song should be "Would I Lie To You". Yes, they consistently had hits and then Annie Lennox went on to have an incredible solo career. Hits after hits with this one.

A bit different from the rest of the Eurythmics/Annie Lennox sound, but still my absolute favorite.
