The dock is nice enough, BUT- Major warning- do NOT try to build the long roof on one of the dock arms if the water in area you're building is noticably affected during storms. High waves will rock your boat wildly and smash the mast against that roof till something breaks. Its the same problem Vetlive's boathouse looks good but in practice has issues.... Either keep both roofs only covering the dock to just short of the ships mast or build somewhere that doesnt get waves, like a river or rivermouth. Strongly suggest checking a potential rivermouth site during a storm before beginning construction if you want to build there to see if its protected or not in the specific spot you're interested in.
This is probably solid advice - especially, if you are building next to deep water. I did think that the roof was quite close to the mast of the boat but I didn't personally have any issues!

So you used the shutters as a dock gate at the steps then mentioned wood beams to park. I had a bit of a time in rough or sideways winds. I used a 2m where you put the wood beams on the inside with shutters attached so when you want to release the boat, you release it from the inside and you can pull right out. Then as just as you coast into port, put it to 2 sail, and hop off the seat, run up to the front of the longboat, and lock her in with the same shutters. Has worked wonders. Great video. LOL, tell me you're building with the tooler mod without telling me. This is a resource-heavy build for sure. It's taken me three days to gather the rss for it.
It does require a good amount of resources but it's not ridiculous. The majority of the build relies purely on wood and stone. You can always utilise thatch roof and ordinary wood pieces until you have the resources for the higher-tier pieces!

You can use regular wood too. The only reason that I use darkwood is taht it is not damaged by water. It just means that you will either have to accept the degraded look of damaged regular wood beams, or repair them regularly.

Regarding your other point, I decided to use darkwood but a very similar looking building can be achieved using the regular wood beams and it will still look great. Thank you for your comments!
@@phinqs yeah i did a slightly modified version of this with regular wood as I don't have access to dark wood yet. But it is looking good 👍
@@ShaunSommer Very nice! I am glad to know that it all worked out. What did you use in the sections that have the darkwood dividers?
@@phinqs they are just open windows for now until i come up with something lol
have you thought about making an end game base design? iv been living in the starter house that you made like 10 days ago and it’s getting quite cramped since iv progressed so fast. my creativity is atrocious so i always use tutorials to make my bases
Yes, I have! Normally, I use the UA-cam community poll feature to allow people to vote for my next build. The “advanced house” came second to the boat dock last time around. Therefore, I think an advanced house may be my next video! Thanks a lot for your suggestion and support!
@@phinqs awesome! i can’t wait to see it.
@@lilbibba3337 Thank you! Hopefully, I can come up with something slightly different from what we usually see!
Looks awesome..but I have to be able to steer the dumb boat:( lol
This dock build does everything for you… except steer the boat! Thanks for your comment.
Too bad where I decided to build is a steep cliff 😂. Idk how I’ll ever get this done but ima do my best
You can ride your boat down the cliff, haha!
Nice DOCK
Thank you very much. I am glad you like my dock!
Is that really possible for the boat to float away while you’re not in it? That’s never happened to me
Happened to me once
Yes, it definitely can. It typically only happens in deeper water because of the waves though. Although, normally it doesn’t go too far!
@@phinqs I just had a video idea!
A trophy/biome room ?
I’ve got All these trophy’s/weapons/items from these different biomes. I was thinking a dedicated building divided up into different biome rooms with their heads/drops/and craftable items from their areas
Just park boat and place wooden gate to keep boat inside? Sample 👌🏻
@@devwinkle I really like this idea. I've thought about doing it in the past and think it could work well. However, I really wish I had more terraforming/landscaping options to make it as good as it can be. For example, changing the ground to Plains, and capturing some Fulings.
I’ve not unlocked dark wood yet.
You can use regular wood too. The only reason that I use darkwood is taht it is not damaged by water. It just means that you will either have to accept the degraded look of damaged regular wood beams, or repair them regularly.
Have you found it yet?
PC Makes this look so easy
I can imagine that building on controller may not be as easy. However, I also have hundred of hours worth of building in this game which definitely helps.
@@phinqs Stroking your ego over a comment about controllers vs KB&M 😅
@@asmith9554 Interesting take.
Goodness SO MANY CUTS
Really? Do you think there’s a lot of cuts? I really thought I explained this well, without cuts. What parts do you think I skipped?
Don't listen to this phinqs not all comments are going to be helpful. There will always be some haters, just skip by brother. Cuts or whatever you did is the only way to make such a great informational video like this. It's literally a step by step guide wtf else is this possible without being a 2-3 hour long video lol
@@Ashborne117 Thank you. I appreciate that. I think we are on the same page. I included everything that was important and cut the rest!
Tick tock brought me here
It’s good to have you! Welcome in!
What breed of English is this?
I am Scottish!
Ima build this amazing boat dock next to my village
It's always cool to hear about people building my designs. Thanks for your support!
