  • Finding and fshing from shore with a WEIRD bait that is hidden in the sand at the beach.. Does it actually work?? Is it any good? Can we catch some fish with this thing? We head out to go saltwater fishing at the beach in north Florida with a mission - catch whatever bites! What kind of fish would be around the beach this time of year? We build a ghost shrimp pump to try and find some of these weird things.. and then see if fish will eat them and our hook. I did not expect for this to happen..

Out here in South Africa we call em sand prawns. Excellent bait. If you can build a handle on the pump to give you more leverage, it would make it way easier to use. It's pretty common to get many from one hole, as there is a network of channels in the sand.

We call them bait pumps in the uk and they’re normally welded stainless steel and retail for around £75. Used for pumping black lugworm which I think you call bloodworms. You need a handle on the shaft too btw.

You need to push down hard into the sand with the pump and pull the pump up fast. Even in wet sand, it should come up as a long collum of sand. You need a better seal or you're not pulling up fast enough. You should be getting at least 10 shrimp per pull.

We call these Yabbies/Nippers in Australia, fantastic bait and catch a very large range of fish. They live on inshore beaches here in big colonies of thousands/tens of thousands (groups of holes all together), they're orange/pinkish here. Most bait shops here sell those pumps but its pretty cool you made your own

After hearing you talk about your fishing cart idea...it made me think 🤔...you should just get a wagon with the really big pneumatic tires that can (hopefully) handle the sand. And then tow it behind your electric bike. Maybe you will be able to just take your bike seatpost off the bike, add some pipe insulation to the handle of the wagon. Put the wagon handle over the seat post receiver end, where your seatpost slips into the bike. And then just put your seat post back in and that should attach the wagon to your Bike so you can tow it behind the bike. I think the issue will be, that you will need extra padding on the sides of the wagon handle so it can't move left to right as much.
