    I tried one today and love it! I'm more of a bluegrass guy, but I know some classical tunes that sound really great on this

    Nice little video. Thanks for posting. The mandolin sounds really crisp with great sustain. I've had a Seagull guitar for many years and still am in love with it. The neck on this mandolin is probably silver maple and the fret board looks like rosewood. Same as their guitars. Thanks!

    And also it is more compact for a traveling mandolin, and when riding a bicycle or recumbent - put in a pannier and off you go! Getting one as a traveling companion. Considering all of the other travel sized mandolins this is the better deal all around, and made in Canada.
    And you gave a great review. Unrehearsed shows one's integrity right there, honest and from the heart. Recording from a smartphone even, as most phones do not have the best microphones.

    I tried one today and was pretty much surprised. For the price it has quite a lovely sound and very easy action

    It's beautiful, I just ordered one. It's the first mandolin I've heard without all the weird resonating vibrations that I've hear even on expensive mandolins.

    Thanks. Interesting review. Seagull guitars are loud too. That’s a good sounding mandolin.

    Same thing here with the reason I bought it, I didn’t see it online first, I went to look for an Eastman, played it, sounded very similar to the epiphone I was renting, I saw the seagull, I picked it up cause I thought it was funny looking and fell in love lol

    I got it at a music store in Lebanon pa, but next time I went back they had already changed inventory, you should be able to call a local store or guitar center and they can prob get one in at least for you to try. I wouldn't recommend buying one online because I believe you have to set it up yourself

    Skook91 There's a new Gallatin F Soprano Mandolin which may be expensive but it's tuned a perfect fourth above a standard mandolin.

    It looks and sounds very interesting. Question, for the strings; hooks or string posts?

    • @Skook91
      @Skook91  8 років тому

    Thanks for the review. Is it made in Canada like their guitars?

    • @Skook91
      @Skook91  8 років тому

      yes; I took this to a luthier and he told me it was a decent bang for the buck

    Great review. Are you still happy with it? After seing this and looking for a mandolin I think I will give it a go...

      I still really like it however It has a very wide neck; and it is more rounded on the backside rather than v-shaped. (slows me down a bit) It has superior sound but i noticed that my hand does cramp up a little after playing for a while or playing chords. However; all other mandys I played in the price range are much more twangy sounding and don't have the body that it does. I noticed the price has dropped a significant amount since I bought it a year ago. I think you can probably land one for under $400

      Gos wo I also never played a mandolin that I found comfortable to play. This model I immediately found a lot easier functionally. Also sounded way better than a mandolin that was way more expensive.

    Cool video, Question please : just getting into Mandolin, I have a Seagull S8 too with a TUSQ removable insert in the fixed bridge, the high e's keep slipping at full tension, how can I stop this from happening please? thanks The action on mine was unplayable out of the box

    • @Skook91
      @Skook91  2 роки тому

      You mean you need to keep re-tuning or they are slipping out of the bridge? If slipping out of the bridge it could be because the slits they sit in are not quite deep enough, if slipping during tuning (or falling out of tune) it's possible they weren't installed properly and the knot is bad around the tuning post. I'm not a luthier but if you know anyone who plays a stringed instrument like a guitar they could probably easily identify your issue, and if they've ever put their own strings on before probably can fix it.

      Frederik Gravel There is an electric version. The S8 EQ. I believe there's a demo for it on UA-cam.
