- Lance Gillies, founder of Earth Cruiser, brings us his very own Earth Cruiser EXP. This beast of a rig uses the Mitsubishi Fuso as the platform to carry the EXP living quarters. Lance shows us all of the features that make this combo a great option for traveling the world.

Lance didn't mention that this particular model is also designed to easy fit inside a shipping container to send your mobile home anywhere in the world 🌎
Aussie Lance, Aussie EarthCruiser, love the Aussie stuff right down to the ECB bullbar (bumper) !
Love the consideration for exterior size. Keeping everything the same height and width as the cab means you can actually fit down most roads opposed to many other comfortable overland rigs that just seem too big to be practical in tight village streets or overgrown jungle tracks.
I would have liked to see him separate the cab and camper to access the engine and then put it back together. I've always wondered how easy/difficult that operation is with these trucks.
I'd asssume you just tilt the bumper and tilt the cab like any other cab over truck.
I suspect your right about the bumper. I was more interested in the seal between the cab and the camper, in the cab-through area. It must need to be detached to tilt the cab. Then reattached in a way that creates a water tight seal once you're done.
The Traveling Together Journal I'm not exactly how they do it on this truck, but our walk through fire trucks just have an accordion looking rubber seal around the door/window.
Nice Video as always!
However one suggestion for the future episode that can demonstrate these vehicles while they are in motion or their off road capability. Since you guys have a big parking area outside of the building, may be you can turn that area into a little off road park. For example: Like those Land Rover Dealership outside their parking lot, they have those off road path to show off their off-road capability.
i agree, to see them in action would be cool and they could continue the conversation in the cockpit. also if they have a lift it would be cool to see underneath the vehicles, maybe show the duel 80gal tanks and how they were secured, any upgrades to the suspension, axles or aftermarket armor could be cool to see from a different view.
Cool, but what's the Dougscore?
I also want to know the doug score
I would give anything to see him drive and try to do 0-60....I doubt Doug's face would show joy after that long getting to 60...
Hell, I’d love to see the “quirks” that he would show haha
Nice and earthy
The want is strong with this one!
Dream car😍
Reminds me of the wild thorn berrys "comvee"
Now that is a cool vehicle!
I want the Fuso 4-door version
With the pop up I wonder about insulation in the cold/hot.
I would prefer permanent insulated standing room. But good for tight spots while driving I guess
This thing looks awesome, saw it in Bend recently
Awesome rig I would love too have one.
I met Lance at the BC Overland Rally this year! Awesome rig!
Wanna see an Earthroamer, although, prepare be trolled on price...looks-wise the ford F550, w/ 41" military tires, yes please, since we're betting on powerball !
Tried to get a replacement DOMETIC window for my Camplite Camper, and could not find anyone to sell me one, I was not able to find the model I had, and it appeared they had changed the model numbers within 3 years, I had to go with a Motion Window, I think they are good for the connected Manufacturer, but even the 15 or so RV Dealer Parts departments, were not able to source the window for me. Not able to easily get here in Ohio, One person did get back with me, He gave me a quote of $650 and $125 shipping. For a 18x24 approximate size window
How would something like this do on the trips that you have taken so far? I would live to have on but I wonder will it be too big for a lot go the off road places people go?
I've been overlanding Mexico/Central America for over a year and While I don't have any experience with these trucks I have met folks in all kinds of vehicles including some similar to this and I have researched the Fuso Canters a bit as a project platform. If you get the models with the mechanically engaged 4x4 I've heard very good things. The size would be OK, though smaller is always better for driving(and worse for living space). The thing to consider in my opinion is turning circle. It's not impresive, but it depends on what you're comparing it to I guess. Something else to consider is that they will often be classified as a "truck" instead of a "pickup" and therefore cost more on toll roads, ferries, and the like. It's still on my list of possible platforms for my future, global build, but if I can stay smaller and add the comfort I want, I will.
Lance drove the Earthcruiser through West Africa in the beginning of 2018 as a participant of the Budapest Bamako Rally. We were participants too, in our Landcruiser. Let me assure you that this thing is very capable - enough to take on ex-ParisDakar stages in Mauritania amongst other very tough terrain. Lance is a fantastic guy as well!
I think you mean Mitsubishi Fuso in the description, not Isuzu, right?
You are correct! Thanks for catching that.
I want one 👊🏻😊👍🏻
For when I win the powerball!!!
I wonder if that also comes without pink bedding
garage tour nexttime please
Ant expedition coming up?
ouwright maayyyyyte
Love xoverland but honestly this is pretty under whelming for what I can assume is an astronomical price tag
They wont publish prices so it must be realky yhigh
Did I hear that right? 80 gallon fuel tank covering about 800 mile? That's only 10MPG!!!!! Jeez we have 40 ton HGVs in the UK that do more than that! You'd some cash to travel anywhere in that!
Strongly disagree about being able to get the Dometic windows, they change there models so quickly, that you cannot easily order a replacement, and they do not sell directly, also most dealers, and I mean most, tried 5, cannot figure out how to order them. Dometic windows , bought individually are very expensive, with shipping and window a small window costs $375. Also they do not last, I have had to replace two, because the UV properties of the windows are not very good. They are lightweight, easy to install, and cheap when bought in bulk, and that is why the industry has pushed them. But preferable, just not the case
Price range?
$200,000 give or take
I noticed that you didn't give a price!
Is that because your far to "Ashamed
of how much it cost!!!!!!!".
That could ONLY be because you consider it to be a RIP OFF!!!!!
Let me guess!!!!!
MORE THAN 200 Thousand!!!!.
I could not get a dometic Seitz window here in the USA, to save my life, so think again about getting replacements easily, they make it impossible to source, and you can only go through dealers, and the dealers have no clue on how to order them, and they just want you to bring your vehicle in and do the work, and charge you a arm and a leg, and the windows are super easy to install. So I strongly disagree when you say you can get them easily.
For how much?
I don't know, but I'll make a guess: $230k
starts at 223k
Eric Hagen thanks for info
And he is Aussie? I thought it was a US brand...?
It is. Built in Bend Oregon.
Strings and Things although, this is 1 year ago,
XXXX WRONG Lance XXXX Daimler AG owns Fuso and is the parent company-not the brand Mercedes.
Virtually no drivetrain and suspension info. Disappointing.
your spot on, bit of a longer video but all that stuff would have been great to add in. even what is kept in the outside lockers
Want...
Looks like a bunch of overpriced junk.
Do you care to expand on your perspective and perhaps share your experience of extended, overland, global travel in the EarthCruiser or a similar platform? EarthCruiser may not be an option for everyone, but they have spent valuable time investing in every detail that is very useful and the perfect product for many overlanders.
Expensive? Yes
Limited purpose (no good for family etc)? Yes
Overpriced? Not really (check RV prices out)
Junk? Definetly fucking not!
If I had the money this is almost my perfect vehicle, just need a 3rd seat for my daughter.
