    I was impressed that the man not only showed pride in his work, but also seemed to have a genuine care for humanity. Thank you Joe & Kait for introducing us to Earth Cruiser.

    I have been following Earthcruiser since 2007-8, their iterative design process since then is impressive. You can follow the decisions they make based on their experience and the experience of their owners, they keep what works and change what needs to be changed. Their choices of materials and equipment, from the foam core house lay-up to the fridge, awning and shocks are the best available ( I am 61 and have been working on RVs and sailboats my whole life) in my opinion. The construction, electrical, plumbing are some of the best workmanship I have seen. All systems can be accessed, often with the removal of just 4 fasteners. As for size, it has about the same footpring of a full size pickup (somewhat narrower) it is not light (about ll,000-12,000lbs wet and full of supplies) but the Fuso has a 14,700lb gvw so the truck is well short of overloaded (important when offroad for extended travel). I like what they do so much that I have sold most of what I own and am moving into one with my wife and dog in November and will spend the winter skiing all of Vail Resorts properties from Stowe to Whistler Blackcomb and then, who knows! Their treatment of their staff and the work environment they have created make me happy to be spending my money with them! Oh and the difficulty that some are having with the shower/toilet being in the entrance.......just stay home!
    Happy Trails, Glenn C.

    Now this is a vehicle that B.A. Baracus would be proud of lol. Really impressed by this and the use of space inside. It looks very well thought out. I think what impressed us the most was its insulation capability, especially for having the pop top style roof. Really Nice Vehicle. Thanks for the tour, its always nice to see something different from everything else out there even if it may not be for us. Take care guys and safe travels.

    I'm loving this thing. It is really impressive. Most of the travels Lance mentioned were to warm places, so I was really curious how the EarthCruiser would handle winter conditions since it has soft sides on top. Glad this was covered at 10:12. It is so spacious, no getting claustrophobic in that thing. Well done, G'day, mates ;)

      I am sitting in my Earthcruiser at Breckenridge CO, it is 10:30pm and the outside temp is 22F inside it is 72F. My wife and I have been living in ours for more than 1/2 the time for the last 4 months chasing skiing from Colorado to BC Canada. We have spent a week in Yellowstone this winter and it never got to 20F and was as low as -10F and still 72F inside, the water system is inside the house and never froze. We love it and it is quite capable off road for something that tips the scales at 12,000lbs.

    In my books, this is one of the very the best all terrain RVs. Very pricy, but well thought out executed. Myself, I will just have to humbly role around in our 4x4 Class B. I am not selling my house to buy this, although that's not as crazy as it first appears.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  7 років тому

      Hey we sold our house and got on the road ;) You're right this is an awesome rig. We are a bit jealous though that your van has 4x4 ;)

    • @vanoramarv4193
      @vanoramarv4193 7 років тому

      Yes, 4x4 in a van is rare. But what I find even more important is the honest 16" of clearance T-Rex has. I mostly drive in 2 wheel, while the clearance allows for greater options, and the 4x4 option is for self tow truck duties.

  • @TheTravelingTogetherJournal
    @TheTravelingTogetherJournal 7 років тому

    I appreciate lance's honesty about it not being the baddest 4x4, but rather a reliable travel vehicle that can get you most places.
    I have watched many similar videos and always wish to see how you access the engine. I realize that the cab tilts forward, but there must be some kind of seal around the pass through attached to the camper. Just curious about the process involved with taking a look at your engine compartment and then getting back on the road.

    • @capachin
      @capachin 6 років тому

      It takes about 10 minutes to undo the cab to house bellows and the same to re-attach, not a big deal. You can check the oil and coolant without touching the cab, it only needs to be tilted for service. I have had mine for 4 months now and have 15,000 miles on it and love it. Glenn C.

    You know, theres one thing I do on every video you guys make (you & Kait are unaware of this), and thats to look for anything I hate about the video! Well, I have yet to find that out...this video turns me on! That vehicle is kinda like a Jeep Wrangler, thats undergone a hyped up transformation, into a Super Duper Uber Class B...that fits into a container! Fuso Box Trucks are all over Nyc as light load transports, so their dependability is a matter of record! No, I can't find A THING WRONG with this Earth Cruiser! This video is in a weird way, is kinda like a homage to your "Wrangler Roots" man! (Devils Stairs Joe ;)

    Breaking NEWS! Mercedes has now bought Mitsubishi or they own Fuso where he comes from, as it's a Mitsubishi product in the Western Hemisphere. This is thing is awesome! Small market for sure but it seems like they have nailed a go anywhere camper. Obviously not great if your camping next to an Interstate though but most people are going to use it far from any i numbered highway.

    Hi Joe and Madam. In South Africa unfortunately, as lovely as this vehicle is, it will not be allowed in off road conditions in any of our national parks, as the wheel track width is too wide. It disturbs the normal track width set by standard 4X4 vehicles, and as such tramples the soil from the outside to the centre. FUSO is also completely unknown here.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  7 років тому

      Well this vehicle has the same wheel track width of a Landcruiser so it shouldn't have a problem.

    • @MarkRose1337
      @MarkRose1337 6 років тому +1

      The bars next to the windshield are to stop branches from breaking the glass in the bush. As far as competence on dry terrain, try this 87 minute video taking an "impassable" track: ua-cam.com/video/RXr_lpZ0RZQ/v-deo.html
      Or 7 minutes on a steep hill with loose surface: ua-cam.com/video/ozQjRHT5AWY/v-deo.html
      Or 1 minute in the mud: ua-cam.com/video/FQcLQyvUDLo/v-deo.html
      Obviously they're not meant to go rock crawling or mud bogging, but with fifty-fifty weight balance and 4 wheel drive, they are pretty capable machines.

      Around $260.000.00 ( total waste of money) considering they lose 30% value every 53 weeks, cost an arm and a leg to service and get repairs, insurance and rego, plus fuel etc. Just buy an old 4x4 for about $10,000 and put a fridge and stove and a mattress in it, it's exactly same feeling when you are fast asleep, lol.

    • @herranton
      @herranton 7 років тому +1

      We're the Russos I wouldn't go near one of these things. I like stealth. This thing screams money. Everyone looking at you will think you are rich, and while that is fine in the USA or Europe, it makes you a huge target in less wealthy areas. Furthermore, it isn't that capable off road. A 4x4 sprinter will get into _most_ of the same places, and would be much more stealth. If you need even more off-road, you would be better off with a Hilux (or similar) and a rooftop tent, there are no really good off-road RVs.
      There are very few places in the world where this thing would work. The infrastructure in the USA makes it worthless, except maybe Alaska, but for true offroading, it is way too big. There is a great series here on yt where a few overlanders went through ak and the northwest territory, and they kept getting stuck on trails in a consiterably smaller vehicle.
      I typed out a long list of places where this thing wouldn't work, but suffice to say, it boiled down to either being pointless (or a hindrance) because of infrastructure or you will get robbed because you are basically flaunting your wealth. (Except India where I noted that tigers could get through the canvas, lol...)
      It is from Australia for good reason, it is the perfect vehicle for the outback. So unless I was going there, nope, I wouldn't consider it.
