Placido & Dimash have been judges/mentors at an event titled "Virtuosos", which is designed to encourage and promote young and upcoming new classical music "virtuosi". Interesting background on their getting together for this: Dimash, as we know, has had a very deep exposure and education in classical music and opera. He's noted in interviews that he watched a video of Maestro Placido when he was very young, and Domingo become one of his "idols". Maestro Domingo mentioned in a couple of interviews that he learned about Dimash from his grandson. This boy came running to his grandfather with his phone in his hand, saying: "Grandpa! You MUST listen to this man, Dimash!" From that moment, Maestro became a fan of Dimash and stated then that he really wanted to sing together with Dimash. So, this has been a dream come true for both artists! A passing of the torch to the next and upcoming generations. By the way, my favorite part of this duet is that final sustained note with their vibrati in perfect synch!
This was a dream come true for Dimash. He shared that, at the age of 5, he had a VHC of a concert of Maestro Domingo and dreamed from then to meet and work with him. I know Dimash appreciated the opportunity to be a judge at the Virtuoso contest, a program to support young classical artists, at the invitation of Maestro Domingo. It was an invitation by Maestro for them to sing this duet. Dimash had 1 day to prepare and they had only 1 rehearsal. We hope all Dimash's dreams come true and we will be here to support him on his journey.

This was recorded after only one day before for rehearsal, having met only two days before. Amazing coupling of two fabulous performers, Dimash so respectful to the senior artist and holding back his incredible voice to not overshadow his partner. A true young gentleman. Both voices blended so beautifully. I love this and it may shine a light on younger listeners to be more interested in opera……and maybe opera needs to bend a little to the needs of the young pop fans too. 😍👍

Plácido Domingo who was invited to Dimashs Talent by his son who found Dimash on UA-cam, meets Dimash at Budapest in the virtuoses Talent Show as a Juror and asked Dimash to do a duet with him. It‘s hilarious. This performance is a historic moment in the world of music. It’s like a bond between genres. Now what happens is that some reactors who never would have come in touch with opera become aware of the great art in classical music and the other side, opera fans become aware of the great art in Music in other genres because they now know of Dimash. I felt like the old master of tenors found in Dimash someone who is able and worthy to wear the crown of one of the best tenors in the world like a follower, the next generation to held up the big art of classical singing. ( hope I explained understandable what I mean, English is not my native tongue)

Great reaction, Arab Man. Yes, this event is truly historical and another dream come true for Dimash. You can see and hear the perfect harmony, the power and the show of respect between Placido and Dimash. Placido was one of the original 3 tenors. World famous. Dimash was invited to take part in judging the Virtuoso competition for young classical artists. Placido was so excited to meet Dimash in person, and Dimash, of course, was also awestruck and paid Placido respect in saying that it was a HUGE honor for Dimash to be in the presence of the maestro. Dimash said that when he was 5 years old, he had the VHS tape of the 3 tenors and said to Placido, "I come to music because of you..." Some of the Dears reported that Dimash was actually a bit sick with a cough, and yet he totally pull off and perfect performance. Dimash was offered a job at the Astana Opera right after he graduated from university, but he turned it down to pursue his own path, and like the saying goes, "The rest is history" Had Dimash took the job at Astana Opera, all of us Dears around the world wouldn't have a chance to know about him. He would only be known in opera arena, in Kazakhstan. God bless Dimash! Only love and respect for Dimash.

Appreciate your reaction! I've seen other reactions by people who don't know who Placido Domingo is, to which I can only laugh hysterically. Nice to see the respect and appreciation you have for Placido and Dimash, which I too feel very deeply. I can't listen to this duet without tearing up. I agree that this is a historic 'passing of the torch'. The fact that Placido initiated it is the greatest honor imaginable for Dimash, and like you say, Dimash just blows us away, like he does every time no matter the genre. He makes it look like he does opera with the likes of Placido Doming every day. That level of vocal talent was unimaginable before Dimash came along. What a gift to witness. And this also speaks to the generosity and amazing heart of Placido, to do this. This is a 'moment of the century' in music.

This was recorded after only one day before for rehearsal, having met only two days before. Amazing coupling of two fabulous performers, Dimash so respectful to the senior artist and holding back his incredible voice to not overshadow his partner. A true young gentleman. Both voices blended so beautifully. I love this and it may shine a light on younger listeners to be more interested in opera……and maybe opera needs to bend a little to the needs of the young pop fans too. 😍👍

It‘s hilarious.
This performance is a historic moment in the world of music.
It’s like a bond between genres. Now what happens is that some reactors who never would have come in touch with opera become aware of the great art in classical music and the other side, opera fans become aware of the great art in Music in other genres because they now know of Dimash.
I felt like the old master of tenors found in Dimash someone who is able and worthy to wear the crown of one of the best tenors in the world like a follower, the next generation to held up the big art of classical singing.

Great reaction, Arab Man. Yes, this event is truly historical and another dream come true for Dimash. You can see and hear the perfect harmony, the power and the show of respect between Placido and Dimash. Placido was one of the original 3 tenors. World famous. Dimash was invited to take part in judging the Virtuoso competition for young classical artists. Placido was so excited to meet Dimash in person, and Dimash, of course, was also awestruck and paid Placido respect in saying that it was a HUGE honor for Dimash to be in the presence of the maestro. Dimash said that when he was 5 years old, he had the VHS tape of the 3 tenors and said to Placido, "I come to music because of you..." Some of the Dears reported that Dimash was actually a bit sick with a cough, and yet he totally pull off and perfect performance. Dimash was offered a job at the Astana Opera right after he graduated from university, but he turned it down to pursue his own path, and like the saying goes, "The rest is history" Had Dimash took the job at Astana Opera, all of us Dears around the world wouldn't have a chance to know about him. He would only be known in opera arena, in Kazakhstan. God bless Dimash! Only love and respect for Dimash.

Il est vrai que dans SOS il mâche certains mots. Personnellement je trouve déjà fabuleux qu'il chante en français et on comprend quand même les paroles. La voix n en parlons pas, j ai beaucoup de respect pour ceux qui ont interprété cette chanson mais avec Dimash on est sur un tout autre niveau

I love your enthusiasm and expression :) Placido and Dimash were judges on the 'Virtuoso' show (there are 2 parts and they are well worth watching!), where young extremely talented people sing & play instruments with such expertise it is amazing. Appreciate your reaction! I've seen other reactions by people who don't know who Placido Domingo is, to which I can only laugh hysterically. Nice to see the respect and appreciation you have for Placido and Dimash, which I too feel very deeply. I can't listen to this duet without tearing up. I agree that this is a historic 'passing of the torch'. The fact that Placido initiated it is the greatest honor imaginable for Dimash, and like you say, Dimash just blows us away, like he does every time no matter the genre. He makes it look like he does opera with the likes of Placido Doming every day. That level of vocal talent was unimaginable before Dimash came along. What a gift to witness. And this also speaks to the generosity and amazing heart of Placido, to do this. This is a 'moment of the century' in music.
