Thank you for your reaction. Dimash was offered a position with the Astana Opera and turned it down. He did not want to be boxed into one genre. We are blessed for it.
Poor Dimash had less than 24 hours to throw 8 years of vocal freedom out of the window and reach deep back into his Bel Canto roots after Placido sprung on him that he wanted to sing a duet as Dimash arrived in Budapest thinking that he was just going to be judging for the Virtuosos TV show. They literally had the one evening to rehearse after the first days filming was done. Placido explained to Dimash that he would have to take the baritone and Dimash the tenor as Placido can no longer sing in a tenor range. Add to that Dimash's hacking cough that he'd had for the past week and I hope that we can forgive him any little errors 🤣
🤣Yes, he is human (not) in barely slipping once after one rehearsal with Placido. 🤣🤣(Placido having sung this song for thousands of hours and Dimash once with a cold!) Can you imagine if Dimash had two days to rehearse instead of one afternoon? 😳😍

Many bel canto teachers have verified that Dimash brings a cross interpretation between rigid classical singing (which must follow norms and exactly as the author of the piece wrote, from the notes and durations, the portamentos, the expressiveness... Everything) and much more popular flexibility. For purists, let's remember that Dimash had the dream of singing with Plácido Domingos since he was a child and it was the Maestro himself, Don Domingos, who suggested the duet (he knew that even with classical training, Dimash would sing as a cross between classical and pop )! Dimash only had one day to remember the work and make the recording, as this moment is part of the competition (like a talent show) for children with musical talent: The “Virtuosos”! Dimash, as well as Placido Domingos, were part of the Jury, accompanied by Erika Miklósa (opera singer), Adrás Keller (violinist, conductor and musical director of the Budapest Concert), Hauser (cellist), Plácido Domingos Jr. (singer and composer), Pablo Sanz Villegas (classical guitarist), Gabriela Rachid (cultural director) and Harvey Goldsmith (music promoter)! The show was in Budapest (Hungary) from January 16th to 26th this year, 2024!
The look of pure pleasure on Placido's face said it all! Dimash is just something special! Sort of a handing over of the baton was this performance. Greetings from Cape Town South Africa
There was no warning or hours of rehearsal. Placido asked him to sing the duet with about 24 hours notice. Dimash also had a bad cough he was struggling with. Their meeting as Dimash arrived in Budapest and was asked, along with the coughing, was all caught on film. The man is just an astoundingly good singer!
I love your reaction and analysis. Dimash has less than 24 hours of rehearsal and with a cold. They both blended beautifully. I love this duet very much. I have been a fan of Placido Domingo‘s since the early 80‘s. To have Dimash singing with him is just beyond words. Bravo Dimash and Placido Domingo. ❤❤❤❤
Dimash started training in classical\opera 25 years ago at age 5. They are his strongest suits and uses it all when he blends genres throughout many songs. He sings “Opera 2” and it’s like this one, and fully performed in classical style. 😊 I would recommend it if you’d like.

You have a lot to catch up on, there are soooo many performances waiting for you. Good luck getting caught up!
Will, it was pure pleasure listening to you making an assessment from your professional standing. One other coach has been a bit more nitpicky. However, he too had to admit that it was a touch of genius in this classical setting. It was pure joy today for me to hear it again and to hear what you had to contribute to this conversation about this beautiful and historic performance. 😊 Many thanks! 🙏
It was a dream of Dimash’s to sing with Placido Domingo since childhood. It was also a dream for me as I have seen both artists several times as they are my favourites. I love this performance. Plymouth UK 🇬🇧
After about 30 watches, it is still as fresh as new. And for someone who does not watch much operatic content, i still cannot get enough of it. Dimash and Placido should do a concert or at least a segment.
🇲🇽❤️💕🇲🇽❤️💕🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Dimash had one day to prepare for this duet, and he was ill with a cough. Given these constraints, he is amazing. Maestro Placido is a dear. His grandson introduced him to Dimash.
Plácido Domingo was singing something else because he was expressing the thoughts of the other character in the piece. Two friends in love with the same woman. Beautiful!!! Thanks for your reaction. ❤️☮️
This duet was very beautiful 💖 it's my favorite from Dimash, as it's gratifying to watch two talented generations singing so beautifully together. Thank you for your professional analysis, greetings from Brazil.♥️🌹♥️🇧🇷
A human and sick Dimash who had minimal time to learn this song… possibly a bit star struck as well since he has acknowledged his early admiration of Placido Domingo. I am awed by Maestro Domingo’s ongoing skill. Admirable for anyone, let alone a senior! Cheers from Canada!🇨🇦
Orquestra maravilhosa! 👏🏽👏👏🏿👏🏼👏🏾👏🏻🎶♥️♥️🇧🇷🇧🇷🕊🕊
Placido Domingo, born Jan. 21, 1941 and Dimash, born May 24, 1994 singing this classic duet on December 10, 2023. So there's 53 years between them, let that sink in for a moment. Placido's voice is still wonderful at age 82 in this clip. Maestro Placido Domingo was of course 1 of the Three Tenors (with Luciano Pavarotti and Jose Carreras). Here's a clip of him from Dimash's year of birth 1994, when he was 53: ua-cam.com/video/nR6CIYgEJbE/v-deo.html and an undated one ua-cam.com/video/5-AF1T4OehM/v-deo.html Puccini: Tosca, "E lucevan le stelle"
Dimash had that great privilege of (at great expense to his paternal grandparents) to begin his classical training before turning 5. Now 30, he is still constantly training classically which gives him over 25 years of classical training. To get an idea of his parentage, here is a video of his parents, long time vocal coach to both Sveta (His mother) and Kanat,(his father) and a couple of friends who studied music with them in University. First singer is the mother of Dimash. Second vocalist is his father. Kanat, his father, composed this song. ua-cam.com/video/Nzt8uLsswTg/v-deo.html
Dimash actually mostly played the piano as a youngster. He only sang in a choir during primary school. He didn't have any serious vocal traing at that time. It was only when he went to college around 14 and started training with Marat Aitimov that he started his formal, serious vocal training. (I got this info from Marat himself)
Please check out “ Ti Amo Cosi” Dimash, LaraFabian. A. Garifulina breathtakingly beautiful opera/classical.You must check this one out! I also love opera
No, he has not yet finished defending his Phd. He said that he would do it towards the end of this year, but it depends on his schedule, I guess. He finished his Degree in contemporary and jazz vocal, and his Masters in Composition. I'll see if I can get an update on this. Please be careful not to give incorrect information Dear.
@@grieverproductions2022she gave slightly incorrect info. He did his degree in Contemporary and Jazz, his Masters in Composition. He said he will defend his PhD at the end of 2024, but I'm not sure when he will manage it with his schedule. As far as we know it is in musicology, but he hasn't said much about it.
@@JustMyOpinion1010 I know what you mean, he's been horrendously busy this year and back to back concerts this weekend, then he flew immediately to some big award ceremony in Dubai and he's supposed to be filming Virtuosos again in December. His PR company has also mentioned a surprise visit to the US before the New Year too. I can't see how he's going to find the time.
Thank you. Dimash is always incredible when singing with anyone else in any language and any genre. They only had a day to rehearse this. Dimash was invited into the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down to be free to do all genres and his 'neo classical' style. He has branched out further since saying that. You might really enjoy his trio performance with Lara Fabian, Aida Garifullina singing Ti amo cosi ! It is glorious! ua-cam.com/video/XaQFfqC3lnU/v-deo.html
We don't know how much work he put into this. We are, as always, reaching our own conclusions based on the snippets of info we gathered from videos and comments made by others. So we should perhaps be a little careful to claim to know.
Hola buenísimo Análisis. Bravo por Domingo y Dimash. Excelente duo. Saludos
@@grieverproductions2022 Dimash arrived at practically the last minute because he was in Serbia receiving their equivalent of the Nobel Prize and doing a radio interview.

Hola. Saludos 🇨🇷❤️🇰🇿
It was Placido grabdsom who suggested he listened to Dimash and then Placido invited Dimash to be on the panel of judges for this Young Virtuoso competition, Then he asked to sing with Dimash. Placido isn’t able to sing the tenor role nowadays so Dimash sang that. I heard that Dimash had a cough too.
Placido Dimingo definitely forgot the lyrics, which is what you noticed. Luckily Dimash remembered them - he is notoriously bad with lyrics but who can blame him with the wild mix of languages?
Considering how many times Dimash forgets his own lyrics that is wild that he remembered them and Placido forgot 🤣 Dimash did it again on Friday and Sunday nights, he messed up the lyrics for WIGY and even forgot the lyrics for Give Me Your Love, but as per usual he just laughed, sang I forget the lyrics and moved on. 🤣🤣
Always a great reaction !!! Time to react to: IKANAIDE (Japanese), OLIMPICO (italian), STRANGER (english), LOVE IS LIKE A DREAM (russian), WAR AND PEACE (chinese), LOVE OF TIRED SWANS (russian), AVE MARIA, MADEMOISELLE HYDE (english), TI AMO COSI (italian), and so many more!!!
There is a point where they have to sing different words to each other. Is that where you thought there was a problem with the wording? It always sounds odd to me, but I guess that's just how the song is.
Nah not that, if you look closely it looks like Placido's lips aren't moving in the right way to pronounce the words he is saying xD. Was a really weird thing to see but if you can zoom in somehow you may see what I mean :)
@@grieverproductions2022other people also noticed. It seems that he just forgot the lyrics for a few moments. Luckily Dimash sang them clearly so apart from the visual cue, it wasn't noticeable.
@@JustMyOpinion1010 An opera singer reactor said the words were different so I assumed that was the case. So they are supposed to sing the same words? In that case I have missed something. It's sort of unlikely Placido forgot the lyrics as he has probably sung it hundreds of times whereas Dimash hasn't and had to learn it at the last minute. However when you read the lyrics and watch them sing, Placido and Dimash do not sing the words in the last verse synchronously. On the lines 'En ce jour qui vient nous unir' and 'Qui vient en ce jour nous unir !' Placido stretches the notes out further on the first words in the phrases and almost swallows the final words, whereas Dimash sings all the words in both phrases clearly and steadily. I've been watching it over and over with French subtitles on trying to work it out and I think this is what happens. It does sound odd every time. I might be wrong though!
It looks like Dimash is trying to keep his movements to a minimum, unlike his usual style where his arms are always motioning all that he is feeling while he sings. I think this performance had him a bit more contained than he is comfortable with. It may have affected his singing a bit. I believe had he been performing this solo he would have gone all out. I think his respect for the genre and for Placido as well had him taking a step back from what he would naturally be capable of. Not that I don’t think he was superb, but I think he would have given a more vibrant performance had he been alone, as when he performs Olympico.

Liebe Grüße von einem Dear aus Deutschland
Will, it was pure pleasure listening to you making an assessment from your professional standing. One other coach has been a bit more nitpicky. However, he too had to admit that it was a touch of genius in this classical setting. It was pure joy today for me to hear it again and to hear what you had to contribute to this conversation about this beautiful and historic performance. 😊 Many thanks! 🙏
It was a dream of Dimash’s to sing with Placido Domingo since childhood. It was also a dream for me as I have seen both artists several times as they are my favourites. I love this performance. Plymouth UK 🇬🇧
Oh man. Dream come true for sure!
After about 30 watches, it is still as fresh as new.
And for someone who does not watch much operatic content, i still cannot get enough of it.
Dimash and Placido should do a concert or at least a segment.
That is a concert I would pay good money to see!
I’m sure Dimash was in awe of his idol and didn’t want to outshine him in any way.
You can see in the video how full of cold he is :(
This duet was very beautiful 💖 it's my favorite from Dimash, as it's gratifying to watch two talented generations singing so beautifully together. Thank you for your professional analysis, greetings from Brazil.♥️🌹♥️🇧🇷
Thank you for a wonderful reaction! ❤
Thank you for viewing! 😊
Thanks! This song is so lovely!
❤❤❤Loved your review! Thanks!
Now it’s time for you to react to Dimash with Li YuGang in the Drunken Concubine. 😊 Thank you for taking time to do Dimash reactions and analyses. ❤
Added to the list! You're very welcome. I always love to react to this absolute legend!
Loved your reaction and comments.
Puedes escuchar canciones clásicas como Olímpico, Ave María, Ti amo cosí, Mademoiselle Hyde, etc
Great reaction thanks❤❤
Here's a clip of him from Dimash's year of birth 1994, when he was 53: ua-cam.com/video/nR6CIYgEJbE/v-deo.html and an undated one ua-cam.com/video/5-AF1T4OehM/v-deo.html Puccini: Tosca, "E lucevan le stelle"
he has done many duets with men!

Oh very nice I will add this to the list for sure!
Also, Dimash is now Dr. Qudaibergen.
He completed his doctoral studies in the spring of 2023.
Oh that is fantastic! Great to know!!
Dimash didn’t know the song, they only had one rehearsal.
😊❤
After One full rehearsal with the orchestra. They did Not practice this "quite a lot."
We don't know how much work he put into this. We are, as always, reaching our own conclusions based on the snippets of info we gathered from videos and comments made by others. So we should perhaps be a little careful to claim to know.
Outstanding!
You will enjoy Dimash’s duet “Ulisse”
It is 100% on my list! It's getting much longer at this point haha
Saludos
❤❤❤
You have a lot of classical peace’s to watch
“Ulysses” “Ti amo cosí” “Bruglua la Terra” and others…
Hi they have only one day to practice
@@SissiSnow-v9h it was actually less than a day because of filming the show and also rehearsing Heal The World.
That's insane to me!!
@@grieverproductions2022 Dimash arrived at practically the last minute because he was in Serbia receiving their equivalent of the Nobel Prize and doing a radio interview.
Thank you so much 😊
❤ классика : please next: EL AMOR EN TI, TI AMO COSI, ULISSE, PASSIONE, OLIMPIKO, AVE MARIA!!❤🎉🎉🎉
Placido Dimingo definitely forgot the lyrics, which is what you noticed. Luckily Dimash remembered them - he is notoriously bad with lyrics but who can blame him with the wild mix of languages?
Considering how many times Dimash forgets his own lyrics that is wild that he remembered them and Placido forgot 🤣
Dimash did it again on Friday and Sunday nights, he messed up the lyrics for WIGY and even forgot the lyrics for Give Me Your Love, but as per usual he just laughed, sang I forget the lyrics and moved on. 🤣🤣
El tiene formación clásica en sus estudios
❤
There is a video where Dimash and Andrea Bochelli sing together....👍
Always a great reaction !!! Time to react to: IKANAIDE (Japanese), OLIMPICO (italian), STRANGER (english), LOVE IS LIKE A DREAM (russian), WAR AND PEACE (chinese), LOVE OF TIRED SWANS (russian), AVE MARIA, MADEMOISELLE HYDE (english), TI AMO COSI (italian), and so many more!!!
I have put them all on my list! Thank you so much for the suggestions!
No, Placido forgot the lyrics. They're not meant to sing different lyrics.
Great reaction. Do you know he also rap.?
I did not and at this point, I am not even surprised hahaha
Classical? Olympico & Ti Amo Cosi.
The tenor and baritone parts aren’t written the same.
