I have a 2004 350z. The coil pack on cylinder #3 went bad two months ago so I bought two new Hitachi coil packs on Rockauto. Yesterday, I replaced a bad coil pack on cylinder #2. I guess these coil packs go bad quite often because I see a a lot of videos and information online about them failing. I inherited my car 3 years ago and it only has 59k miles on it. I will order four more coil packs and replace the rest when I get time.
Mine was doing that. But strange thing is....i shut off engine, pull key, restart car and misfire stops. Next time I start it. It runs fine for 5-10mins then starts misfiring again. I repleat the shut off and restart process and it's fine for another 10mins. This is very annoying too
@@elguapo9567 yeah, it was the solder inside the ECU. The individual fuel injector pulsator for the number 4 cylinder solder had cracked. I sent the ECU to Z1motorsports and had to buy a new ECU from them. It cost $760 to replace and it was worth it
Yoo ty for responding. and its weird that everytime i disconnect the battery and plug it back on the car works fine for a little bet i turn the car off and after 10m the car gives a hardstart i have to crank it 3 times in order to turn it on then the random misfired code pops on i have a little smells of gas im guessing is because i crank it to much. after that i went and disconnect the battery again and the car works fine for a little bet did you have those symptoms back then?
@@elguapo9567 no...mine started just fine. It would idle just like new. Hit a hard bump and the misfiring on cylinder 4 started. Im sorry I can't diagnose your Z but if you have random misfiring. It could be a bad injector harness. Is the P0300 the only code it's throwing?
I have a p302 cylinder 2 misfire code but only a slight pop audible from the exhaust at idle car still runs fine and has power. I have swapped the coil pack and spark plug between cylinders 2 and 4 and the code stayed on cylinder 2. Is this more likely to be the intake gasket or injector? I only use 91 octane Mobil gas and the check engine light never blinks only comes on after a few days of driving.
@@z33tanner that's what I thought to and still cant find a leak even changed plenum gaskets so might do coil packs cuz already did spark plugs nothing cleaned maf nothing
Have a question, I was driving fast , I took off fast at a stop light ..then this car jump off in front of me I had to slam on brake...now Everytime I try to go fast feel like on the right side of the rear something holding it back....do anybody know what that means??? Ik my brakes not lock up
Your break calliper may be stuck shut I had slammed on the breaks once hard and then my break calliper stayed clamped shut happend a lot of u don’t service the callipers and slam on the breaks hard
william rice look on z1 Motorsports (other websites will have it too) and search for the knock sensor sub harness-- basically the wiring for the sensor that hooks to the wiring harness.
I'm also having this problem. First threw a code for camshaft positioning sensors. Changed those, and it fixed it for about a month, then started doing the same thing. So, I hooked it up again and it said it was the knock sensor (which is way more work than changing any sensor should ever be...) Regardless, I pulled the plenum apart and replaced the knock sensor, put it all back together, torqued it correctly, and did an ECU reset. My car is still doing the exact same thing. Any advice? I probably should have changed the harness while I was doing this but, the guy at the parts store told me it was only throwing a code for the sensor. I was starting to think it was a bad injectors or something till I saw this video and read this comment. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
I’m having this same exact problem rn

Maan I thought mine were going early at 94k. My G35 needed them at 184k
Lmao I have a 04 as well I ended up ordering all 6 of them cuz my cylinder 3 was throwing a code hopefully that fixes the noise
Did that fix the noise?
Did u fix the cylinder 3 misfire ?
No need to take the oil thing off
Did it start banging off 3000k rpm??
Ayo did you figure this out ?
You would have alot more room if you remove your torsion bar
Lol
Did this end up being a vacuum leak at the plenum?
Waffeey yes it’s the gaskets

@@Gabriel-xh6hg Yes I did, mine was a leaking intake plenum gasket.

I replaced my knock sensor and sub harness, and that fixed the issue! I have another video of it, if you want to check it out.
