You and your fellow railroaders are the lifeblood of your railroad, just like it is the lifeblood of the communities it serves. Switch cars at industries. Keep people moving while running local passenger trains. Run trains with a purpose in transition era Appalachia - in Railroader!
In my rookie case, I need more water columns spread out along the route or some kind of siren when I get below 700 gallons! (lol)
Double ended observation car, and then turn just the engine at Alarka and used to at Whitter. When you buy Sylva, you also can build an engine service at Dilsboro, which I recommend as it a) provides a turntable to turn engines, b) provides a helpful second water column near to Sylva, and c) adds a Coaling tower at that end of the line, which is much needed.
The dip in the yard is called a bowl, It's a bowl yard!!! LoL It's used to switch and helps prevent cars from rolling out n stuff. Also, I just run around my train at each end in the siding, I have two obs cars one on each end. Works for me.
Another option, back out of Alarka and turn the entire train at the Wye at Alarka Junction. Saves you from coupling/uncoupling, running around, etc.
I’m still working to unlock the bridge out of Bryson to Alarka Jct. I used to turn the train around, but once I bought the line to Sylva, I gave up and just shove it all the way back.
I was gonna say, probably use the wye to reverse into alarka
You'll have to build the turntable at Dillsboro. It's part of the engine service facility milestone. My passengers have just been rolling along. Love the series and the game!
Glad to see I'm not the only one that makes goofy mistakes like that! I ran my engine down to 36 gal of water and just made it to the water column. Love the content! ✌
Personally, I always turn my passenger trains. I like running my trains fairly prototypically, so I always have cabooses at the end and everything facing the right way. It just feels wrong for me not to do so 😂
how do you actually turn the engine around so that it's always at the front to make that possible?
@@gregwhitworth I use the turntables at either end. For the passenger train that ends at Alarka, I back the whole train to Alarka Junction to turn the entire train
The other option, of course, is to get another observation car for the other end of the train.
There is a buildable turntable and shed at Dillsboro, so not quite Silva but close
On "sloppiness", there are quite a few actual railroaders by trade that don't play the game nearly as realistically as you are. I think you're fine however you want to do it.
I have three passenger trains a sylva-Bryson line, a andrews-Bryson line, and Alarka Depot-Alarka Jct line. Passengers switch trains at alarka jct and at Bryson. It’s kind of complicated but works for me. I haven’t opened Andrews yet so the Andrews line starts at Nantahala.
"Hook up the reverser, it'll make your train go faster, and let it out when you're on the uphill for more traction." It's a game, and hasn't gotten 100% accurate steam simulation like Derail Valley does yet. still making me want to get this game...between you, Hyce, and other youtubers playing this game...to see if I can do any better/worse
Glad to see the new content, and can't wait for the next one.
It does make it go faster, but I’m not sure about the power
there is a turn table at Dinsboro. Should put a wye at Sylvia, would be a lot better.
I have turned the passenger train engine and 3 cars in alarka bryson and wittiner. Still fun to watch u work the trains too
How did you turn an engine and 3 cars in Alarka? The engine and one car was pretty tight
I’m sorry. I meant alarka junction not alarka. I have not made it there yet.
You can use the observation car's light by using console commands. Switch to sandbox temporarily (/mode sandbox) then in command box type /set CarID headlight 1 (dim) or 2 (bright) then when you're done and satisfied change back to company mode by putting /mode company in the console command box. This doesn't affect the company gameplay at all either.
I've heard on the Discord of switching modes causing issues for some people so I think I'll just leave the light off for now. Good to know though
@@KerboOnYT fair enough, I've done it in my company Gane without issues. I also save right before doing the switch, just incase something goes wacky
I want a wye at silva. At this point (well just before todays patch) the Dillsboro turntable wouldn't turn with the P43 Pacific on it - I needed the Pacific to haul a passenger train over the grade to Andrew's, I found the Atlantic got water starved trying to a haul 3-car passenger to Andrew's (using the facilities at Nantahala), the Pacific can easily haul a 4-car train.
It would be a nice addition
I wish they would make the cameras LESS withless quick movements!
sylvia doesnt get a turn around you have to build yard and fuel station at dillsburro do not pass dillsburro and not get water lots of switching jobs there in sylvia you need to get the pulpwood cars after you get sylvia and assign the cars job there. i personall just go up and down the line with pasenger cars only stops other than stations for fuel and water
If you put a one viewing car at the back and one viewing car in the front of the train and only use the last one, if you go forward and turn only the loco around, will it work?
Possibly, but that would be equally as silly as running the train backward, in my opinion
I aint changing nothing with the passenger train. Turns take too long. As is, I'm not even serving every industry on the east end at Byron. Mostly cuz I don't wanna take on debt.
You can buy a turn tabel and workshop at salva
There's a turntable in Dillsboro.
Good to know
I'm still playing Railroads Online and what I do with passenger trains there is completely ignoring them, because they're still just as useless as the day the cars got added. 👍
Haha

I have two observation Car on my Train. So i can easy runaround at the terminnus
for some reason i cant turn my pacific on any turntables my brother can when we are in multiplayer but i cant at all
That's really strange. You might try asking over on the Railroader Discord. The link is in the description
I run my trains in reverse using the caboose in the lead (my whole train is running backward) when I do reverse movements. I’m not far enough along in-game tho, so I’ll have to see what I’ll do once my railroad line gets extended-I’m just about ready to open Bryson. I may still run them in reverse, and turn at the wyes when able, but use smaller train consists since the wyes aren’t too big.
