If you haven't done it already, I would love to see a tier list of Pots and Pans sets along with some consumer advice on what to look for when buying a set? Could range from the cheapest up to the One Pan featured today, pros and cons and such.
You might take a look at "Chefs Recommend Kitchen Equipment Vol. 2", they compare a cheap pan with a more expensive pan and talk about what criteria they look for when purchasing, I found it helpful
I have always found pan sets to be department store traps. Knife sets are even worse traps. I only buy both of those things a la carte. That way you actually get what you need and not extra crap you don't. More expensive for sure. I spent roughly $1000ish dollars over the space of 5 years (last one excepting the 2 nonstick pans I have had and replaced was bought about 6 years ago) on pots and pans, some specialty ones.
Helen Rennie (on UA-cam) has some good educational videos about tradeoffs when choosing pans of different types. As someone else noted, pan sets are often a way to sell you things you don't need. The best choices for your stock pot and your frying pan might be entirely different materials that won't be sold together. If you need something quick and cheap, a Mr-Right-Now of pans, an inexpensive set can be a good choice to get you started. But for most cases, I think two pans gets you really far: one skillet/frying pan and one pot to boil your pasta/rice/soup, sized to how many portions you like to cook at once. As you figure out what you use most, what you like about those pieces, which ones are the wrong size, if you need something more sturdy or more light ... that will guide what you give away and what you invest in more long-term.
I love Sorted. The group is amazing. The recipes, the cheats and hacks, the interaction between everyone, everything is wonderful. The thing I love the most is the fact that they have been friends for 20+ years. You don't see that too often. At the risk of sounding emotional, it's beautiful to see. But gents, gyoza are traditionally stacked together horizontally, pan seared on the bottom before adding liquid directly into the pan and covering. Loved seeing James the sarcastic ginger with his rolling eyes 😂 and can you please tell Jamie never do that movement with his tongue on camera ever again my eyes my eyes 👁️👁️😂😂
Love having James back for this episode. Then we give him a pepper grinder to review and all I can think of is 7 years ago Alton Brown showed us how to attach a pepper grinder to a power drill. I think that still grinds faster than this cannon.
That grinder is also designed to be more consistent with size of grains produced each twist. Basically think of it like a great coffee grinder. You don't want a whole bunch of fines and course grounds. You want consistency
@@JonathanJE3 it is absolutely a coffee hand grinder. Thing is, even the really really good expensive handgrinders are less expensive. I actually use an old hand grinder for my pepper. It grinds basically as fast as this. The JX Pro I use for espresso was $180.
@@alexandraengland3274 I think it's a matter of people not realizing that an adjustable coffee grinder is the same thing. There is no reason you couldn't put spices in your coffee grinder. That's why I only have one hand grinder. I use it for everything
Garlic scapes are the flower from the garlic BULB. THEY ARE SNAPPEDOFF SO THAT all the the plant energy goes into the bulb making nice bulbous cloves. The flower is perfect to flavors soups and stews.
James is the best for this sort of thing. His reactions! I've missed him. Happy to see him make a guest appearance. Glad to hear he's doing well and is happy.
I'm so happy to see someone review the "Our Place" pan! It's all over my Instagram and I've always wondered if it's good. Also, happy to see you again James!
Yay! James! I know it was a guest appearance, but I was very happy. About the products: I'm in the USA, so this is my opinion for USA dollar amounts. The pepper grinder= I'd pay $30, a good chunk of my budget. The alarm clock/brewing station= not in my life. The pan= considering I have a very tiny kitchen and could get rid of a lot of stuff taking up space and just have that ONE pan do almost everything= I would pay $100, but would have to save up for it. So, out of all that, if the pan makes it to the USA, that would probably be all I would buy. I like the pepper grinder, but not enough to spend more on it than I spend on food in a month.
James's little smile when the smoke alarm goes off is everything. He looks absolutely, absurdly pleased.
"This is great, love this."

Happy: Realizes is a new video, clicks instantly because missed James!
Omg yes!!!! Our favourite judgemental chef is back 😻 we’ve all missed you!!!!
We've missed the King of Sass too!
@@SortedFood I bet Janice missed him the most!
Good to see James again (even if it is only for at short visit) as he is missed. Also good to hear that he is happy
So GOOD to see James! And happy that he brought the sass & the mayhem! 💕
3:22 is the shot. My mouth started watering immediately!
So glad to see James again. He's the only one that is honest in the reviews lol.
oh wow, i really love this james guy. I think he should stay on sorted and NEVER leave.
trouble is. he already left.
I know we all missed James, but the real question is: did Janice miss James? what was her reaction to him being back? I hope things have smoothened out between them.
Perhaps we will hear about it in the next pass it on 👀
a much needed video today. Great to see James back and as sassy as ever. Hope he never changes!
More James! More James! More James! This was SO awesome! Would love to see him in more videos!
Loved seeing James the sarcastic ginger with his rolling eyes 😂 and can you please tell Jamie never do that movement with his tongue on camera ever again my eyes my eyes 👁️👁️😂😂
"A fool and his money are soon parted." Never before has an episode of Sorted so clearly demonstrated the truth of this proverb.
I saw James in the thumbnail and i clicked so fast. I didn't realise quite how much i've missed him until i saw him again.
I've been loving the guests you've had on recently, you should definitely get this guy back on soon
he used to be a regular previously, you can check out old pass it on vids with all 5 of tjem in :)
Jamie's sense of humour and reactions crack me up
Was waiting for his first guest spot. Great to have you back for a spell, mate.
Genuine happiness in James' eyes. Tremendous
@@JonathanJE3 the need for consistent sized coffee grounds is far greater than just pepper
@@JonathanJE3 it is absolutely a coffee hand grinder. Thing is, even the really really good expensive handgrinders are less expensive. I actually use an old hand grinder for my pepper. It grinds basically as fast as this. The JX Pro I use for espresso was $180.
@@7792pnaurfrwhy? I'm not a coffee person so I'm just wondering what's the problem if the grounds are different sizes.
For James: garlic scapes are the stem of the garlic plant that grows above the ground, typically harvested in late spring.

“You could’ve dropped the ginger”
“Well then it would’ve been a lie”
Lmaooo I love these guys
James is the best for this sort of thing. His reactions! I've missed him. Happy to see him make a guest appearance. Glad to hear he's doing well and is happy.
That was good fun. I would love to see James a few times a years, it's nice to have him.
Also, why not a new format where james talk about what he discovered in his real job ? i'm down to mess with some new ingredient.
I'm so happy to see someone review the "Our Place" pan! It's all over my Instagram and I've always wondered if it's good. Also, happy to see you again James!
I have it. Bought it more than a year ago. It’s my go to.
Yay!
